1989 Chevy Caprice Brougham Original Survivor on 2040-cars
Shelby, Iowa, United States
I have up for auction another prime example of a well maintained original caprice. This car was owned by an elderly couple since new in 1989. This car has 82,000 miles on it and none of them were in the winter. Car was always garaged and kept out of the Midwest weather. The car runs and drives like the day it was purchased. This is not a 305 car. It has a 350 chevy engine in it from the factory and this was rare in these years. Runs great. Under the hood is very very clean. No leaks of any kind. The body of the car is in excellent shape with no rust. The paint has a few tiny nicks in it but otherwise is amazing. The vinyl top is still soft and no rips or cracks in it. And did I say no rust!!!!! The under side of the chassis is very very clean also with just surface rust on rearend housing and exhaust. The front bumper filler is cracked on this car wich was a problem with these when they age. The back bumper filler is perfect. The interior is very clean. All power options and everything works as it should. No rips, tears, or stains. The only thing I found were a couple little cigarette ash burns on the drivers seat. Car does not smell of smoke so I don't think smoking in the car was something that happened very often. As I usually do I will let the pictures speak for themselves and if any of you want any other pictures just ask and I will post them. This car is a very clean original that runs perfectly. Don't miss out. Car is sold as is no warranty and buyer is responsible for shipping but I will help if need be. Thanks and bid to win. You wont be disappointed.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch
Mon, 04 Feb 2013According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]
Tue, 19 Mar 2013This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...
