Step back into 1987 and go down to the local Chevy dealership and pick out this Yellow Beige Caprice Classic Brougham. That is what it feels like you are doing when you see this car. This GM classic is an absolute TIME CAPSULE! It is a 2 owner North Carolina car its entire life. Garaged, preserved, and pampered! Let me tell you the story about this beautiful Caprice. I am a diehard Cadillac fanatic, with a passion for the full sized Fleetwood Broughams and Eldorado's. Owning a few classics, I can appreciate this low mileage Caprice. My relationship with this car began about a month ago. I was traveling from Massachusetts delivering a vehicle my sister (who lives in NC) purchased from me. (I am a car dealer by day) I planned to drive down, and rent a cheap car and drive home. Planned being the key word. Before the trip started I found out this Caprice was just traded in at Bob Murray Chevy in Raleigh NC for a new Chevy, and was going to wholesale auction with all the other dealer trades. While I was down in NC I attended this dealer only auction, to check this dream machine out. It was like a rose in a garden of weeds, waiting to be plucked, taken home and cared for just as the first two owners have done. Since you are reading this, you know I couldn't resist. I purchased it, and drove it home to Massachusetts almost 800 miles! All trouble free driving, smooth, strong and comfortable! She ran like a top!! And got almost 24MPG!! Well since I have a 2 car garage, and have to rent space for my other cars, as soon as my soon to be wife saw this one she said "It or me!" So here we are. I need to find this sweetheart a new home. (the car, not my fiance) This Caprice would make a car guy like me a great Sunday cruiser, collectors car, or investment. The car starts, runs, drives like new. It looks amazing in its rare color combination, and is LOADED with options! They include AG2-SIX WAY POWER PASSENGER SEAT AG9-SIX WAY POWER DRIVERS SEAT AM6-SADDLE CLOTH 55/45 SPLIT AU3-POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM A01-TINTED GLASS A31-POWER WINDOWS A90-POWER TRUNK OPENER B34-FRONT FLOOR MATS B35-REAR FLOOR MATS B48-DELUXE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM B84-BODY SIDE MOUDLINGS B93-DOOR EDGE GUARDS CD4-INTERMITTENT WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM C49-ELECTRIC REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER C60-AIR CONDITIONING D64-ILLUMINTATED RH VISOR MIRROR D68-TWIN REMOTE SPORT MIRRORS F41-SPORT SUSPENSION K34-ELEC. It was owned by its first owner up until 2005 with 28k accumulated miles in High Point NC. It was then owned by the last owner, from 05 until traded at Bobby Murray Chevy this Feburary with 46k miles. I purchased this car under my dealership, and the new owner will be the 3rd owner. I have a clean and clear North Carolina title. The car comes with 2 original GM sets of keys, factory floor mats (great shape), owners manual, wire wheel lock key, and the orignal window sticker. It is completely rust free! The pictures will tell the story. No rust under door edges, trunk edges or on the chassis. The vinyl top is crisp and soft, and still retains its true color, showing it has been garaged. The chrome and bright work is just that, BRIGHT. The seats and carpets still have that thick pile to them. I do not believe they have ever been shampooed. There are some minor defects I will list. Power antenna stoped working when I shut it off after my 800 mile trip. It worked fine before. It is in the up position. some light stone chips on the mirrors (pictured), small crack in dash pad on the drivers side top corner point (under 1 inch, see photos), silver trim in the horn pad has a small section missing (see photos), some paint wearing off the dash under the radio and on the shifter column band (see photos), some small pits in the top face of the rear bumper. Not rust, just little dots in the chrome. Tires are a matched set of Michelin's with 80% tread, they are older tires and have some dry cracking in the tread. This did not concern me driving 800 miles home. I replaced the 10 year old battery with a brand new one. Radiator hoses look newer. This was a non smokers car. The defects I listed are me being over critical. This is a used car, a 1987 model year. Check out the photos, I took close to 140 pictures, including the undercarriage. Any questions feel free to email me, or you can call me. Anthony, at 978-930-1004. Please keep in mind I am in the EASTERN time zone. I will not like you much if you call me at 1 am, please keep calls from 8am-10pm EST. The car will be selling to the highest bidder, no reserve. I do not have a set price in mind. A $500 deposit via paypal within 48 hours, remaining Payment to be cash in person, or wire transfer. Car will not leave until payment is clear. I will export this car, and help in any transport to do so (Paid for by you). I will also help arrange shipping within the USA. If you want to fly in, and take another road trip in this car, I will pick you up at Boston Logan Int air port and get you on the road. Massachusetts does NOT issue temp plates, 20 day plates, or any other plate to put on the car to drive it home to wherever you may live. You must bring some sort of plate with you if you plan on driving home. The mileage may increase slightly as we welcome test drives. Dont make the same mistake I did, make sure the wife will allow you to have this car, make sure the bank you keep your money in has the funds to pay for it too! No reserve, last bidder wins! The car is located in Billerica MA, and has only been here for a few weeks. The car has not been driven to preserve its salt free history. photo 87caprice2001_zps5c55451f.jpg photo 87caprice2002_zpsa1b30985.jpg photo 87caprice2003_zps72f30a8d.jpg photo GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? GM files for Z71 Trail Boss trademark

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Try as they might to keep their plans a secret, automakers have their hands tipped through a variety of methods – be they through loose lips, spy shots or patent and trademark applications. That's how we know, in this instance, that General Motors is working on (or at least considering) an off-road machine wearing the name Z71 Trail Boss – the name which our compatriots at AutoGuide.com tell us that GM has registered for use on light-duty trucks. Now if that alphanumeric designator sounds familiar, it should. GM has long used it to designate the off-road packages on many of its body-on-frame trucks from Chevy and GMC. These days you can order a Z71 package on the Chevy Colorado, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban and on the GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon. The package typically includes components like a beefed-up suspension bits, high-capacity air cleaner and underbody protection plates. The Trail Boss designator would seem to suggest something further reaching than a suspension package, though. Just what it would entail we don't know; minds immediately start running toward Chevy or GMC going after the Ford F-150 Raptor, but we'll likely be looking at something closer to the Trailhawk packages Jeep offers on the likes of the Renegade and Cherokee. Weekly Recap: BMW rolls out ambitious plug-in hybrid electric plan

Sat, Dec 6 2014

"We believe that for the United States, this is going to be very important." – Julian Arguelles Let there be no doubt, BMW is serious about electric vehicles. The German automaker said this week it will make plug-in hybrid versions of all of its core models, an aggressive move that demonstrates its commitment to electric propulsion systems. BMW did not specify which vehicles will get the plug-in systems or provide a timeline for when they will arrive. But the announcement is clearly more than blustering, and the company revealed a 3 Series plug-in prototype this week at an event in France. BMW said the 3 Series uses a version of its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (240 horsepower, 300 pound feet of torque) with an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission in place of the torque converter. It has an all-electric range of 22 miles. A plug-in X5 with the same powertrain was also displayed alongside the 3 Series, though the X5 has been on the auto-show circuit for more than a year, including a recent stop in Los Angeles. Those two vehicles use "eDrive," and BMW's plans represent the first widespread transfer of its technology from development of the i3 and i8 models to more mainstream products. BMW said it's developing electric powertrains so they can be deployed rapidly across its range, and they are flexible enough to be used with fuel cells in future products. Enticingly, BMW is also working on a "Power eDrive" system, which debuted in a 5 Series GT concept at the event in France. This setup has two electric motors powered by a 20-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and when teamed with a four-cylinder turbo, pump out about 670 hp. Reinforcing BMW's commitment, the company will add more than 200 jobs at its factory in Dingolfing, Germany, to support electric-vehicle development. The moves come as BMW and other automakers diversify their portfolios while fuel economy and emissions regulations are getting tighter around the world. The United States has set a 54.5-mpg CAFE requirement for the 2025 model year. BMW said the electric vehicles were developed with an eye toward the US market, its government policies and its wide-ranging commuting styles. "We believe that for the United States, this is going to be very important," spokesman Julian Arguelles said. Ben Scott, a senior analyst in London with automotive research firm IHS, said BMW's moves are expensive – but necessary – to keep pace with the market.
