1986 Chevy Capriceclassic Coupe on 2040-cars
Erie, Pennsylvania, United States
Rare Caprice Coupe with low miles for the year. Repainted in original color last year. Four new coil springs and front shocks. New stabilizer links and center link, along with front end alignment. Car sits as good as the day it left the factory. It's ready for upgraded larger rims or keep the original old school look with the brand new Vintiques 15" wheels from Summit Racing, on Cooper tires, with excellent tread. All manuals included along with service records from myself and the previous owner, a retired gentlemen, and previous owner of the car. He had new wires, plugs, fuel tank and fuel pump done shortly before I purchased the car. This car has been very well maintained and is reliable. The 305 V8 runs smooth and the choke works properly at startup. Transmission shifts excellent with no issues. :Cruise down the highway in style and enjoy the ultra smooth ride! The interior has no rips or tears and shows minimal signs of wear. The top of the rear seats have a bit of fading from the sun as well as the driver's side front seat on the side facing the door. The headliner does not sag. Carpet is clean and has almost no wear. No cracks in the dash, has some sun fading. Steering wheel is perfect, and all interior trim is in near mint condition. There is an aftermarket radio with a CD player and thumb drive. Chrome is excellent. This coupe has the rare Landau vinyl roof which is in mint condition and shows no wear at all. No rust around the rear windows or roof line. Trunk has new gasket seal and there is no rust in the trunk. Window gaskets are original and are in good condition. Car passed stringent PA state inspection last month. There is a small spot of bubbling around the top of the driver's side wheel well. This is the result the body shop not sanding that area properly. (See photo) There is no bondo on the car, with the exception of this area and a small repair on the pass. quarter panel. There is some rust on the bottom inside panel of the driver's door which has been treated with POR 15, an undercarriage treatment. ( See photo.) The floor pans are rust free; the undercarriage is in good condition and was recently rust proofed. This car was driven as a daily driver over the years and some scaling is present on the upper and lower control arms and other underbody components. AC is 112 and needs to be changed over to 134A to blow cold. Contact me with any questions. This is a very nice car and I have given a very honest description of it. You will not be disappointed! Thanks. |

Chevy Volt 'acceptable,' Nissan Leaf 'poor' in new IIHS safety tests
Thu, Jul 31 2014Ford C-Max Hybrid also scored "acceptable" rating. With US Nissan Leaf sales up almost 30 percent during the first half of the year, the only thing that might be able to stop the battery-electric vehicle is a good, stiff barrier. Unfortunately, thing's aren't always pretty when that happens in the real world, according to new tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Things with the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in are a little bit rosier, though. The two plug-in vehicles were part of a batch of a dozen vehicles that just went through the IIHS's "small overlap" test, in which the driver's side front corner of the vehicle is crashed into a rigid barrier at 40 miles per hour. Out of the dozen, only the Mini Cooper Countryman was given a "good" rating. Five vehicles, including the Volt and the Ford C-Max Hybrid, were rated "acceptable," two were "marginal" and two, including the Leaf, were "poor." Plug-in vehicles are unique in the crash-test context because of their relatively large battery sizes. In the Volt's case, the driver had a "low risk" of injury, said the IIHS. But the Leaf's crash substantially pushed back the instrument panel and steering column, creating a scenario where the driver was "likely" to sustain leg injuries. The batteries in both the Leaf and the Volt passed safety tests specifically targeted at things like thermo and electrical properties and overall integrity. "Nissan is proud of the Leaf's 'Good' rating in all other IIHS tests, a 4-star NCAP rating from NHTSA and its IIHS Top Safety Pick rating in all previous years since the car's release," the company said in an e-mail sent to AutoblogGreen. "As for the performance of the 2014 Leaf in the 'small overlap frontal test,' Nissan will continue to review these and other results from the IIHS 'small overlap frontal test' as we seek opportunities for improvement." Check out the IIHS's press release and small car crash-test video footage below. Range of ratings: Small car ratings run the gamut in challenging small overlap front test The Mini Cooper Countryman is the only small car to earn a good rating among the latest group of 12 cars subjected to the Institute's small overlap front crash test. Two electric models and a hybrid also are in the mix, with varied results. The electric-powered Chevrolet Volt (with a gasoline engine "range extender") earns an acceptable rating, while its battery-electric rival, the Nissan Leaf, earns a poor rating.

GM issues stop-sale for 3 SUVs over incorrect MPG rating
Fri, May 13 2016This week, GM sent a memo to Chevy, GMC, and Buick dealers to tell them to stop selling three SUVS. The 2016 Chevy Traverse, the GMC Acadia, and the Buick Enclave all have EPA window stickers that show higher fuel economy ratings than the vehicles actually have. Unlike other recent – and very public – fuel economy ratings problems from VW and Mitsubishi, it doesn't seem like GM did anything wrong with the testing for these vehicles, it just misprinted the labels. New labels are being printed and should arrive at dealerships this weekend and early next week. After that, the SUVs will be able to be sold and delivered again. The official fuel economy rating for the three SUVs are all the same. The correct numbers for the all-wheel drive versions are 17 miles per gallon combined, 15 city, and 22 highway. The stickers say the SUVs get 17/24/19. The front-wheel driver models were also incorrectly labeled, and the total number of affected vehicles is 59,823. In the memo, GM said the problem was caused by an "inadvertent error," Automotive News says. GM is working with the EPA to solve the issue. We have asked GM for a comment on the mistake and will update this post if we hear back. Related Gallery 2013 GMC Acadia View 16 Photos News Source: Automotive News – sub. req.
