1976 Chevy Caprice lowrider history:

With its beautiful yacht like lines & elegance it was no wonder why this car was chosen to be a full show car early in its life in 1982. Just 6 years old of age this car went under a transformation that would impact many hearts, as they set eyes on this art master piece.

With just under 6 years of being driven off the show lot a team was hired that consisted of the best of the best in the industry to create what is know as " True Devotion" 1976 Chevy Caprice. The first step was to create a canvas for the gran masterpiece. The canvas was prepped by eliminating the handles, side moldings adding dual french antennas, hollywood top, suiciding the trunk and adding a blue foundation with rainbow metal flake. Now that the canvas was ready, the artist began his work adding scallops, ribbons, graphics and little secrets of the trade using  various mixes of kandy purple, blue, yellow, magenta & few custom created colors. No true Lowrider would be complete with out murals, so three murals beautifully add life to it all. More than eight hours were invested on the highly detailed roses that decorate the side panels. The reverse opening trunk also serves as a canvas for the highly detailed mural of  the Virgen Mary looking over the famous Chicago lake front.

Now that the exterior was taken car of, the interior was next on the list. Wanting to accent the interior but not sacrifice comfort & luxury the Caprice is so famous for, it was decided the stock interior would be used but given a lowrider treatment. Many yards of carefully chosen heavy duty elegant dark blue velvet material was used to create an interior fit for royalty. The famous chain steering wheel add accent to the blue buscuit tuck interior  & the gold plates under the dash hold eight gold switches. Two of the switches control the power windows & the other six  give you access to dance in front to back side to side motions.

Once the car was completed it was ready to take the show by storm and it sure did with many best of shows, best paint and dominating the show world for many years but after 10 years of competition the time had arrived to raise the bar. In 1993-94 season the car would go under a transformation that at the time was unheard of, a fully detailed undercarriage with painted floor, frame & triple chrome plate everything!

Plans went on the way to not only do a full complete undercarriage but also a  highly detail engine compartment. The car was put on stands &  fully disassembled of its engine & complete undercarriage. Parts were prepped & every chrome trim removed to be shipped out for triple show quality chrome plating. One thing let to another and soon the project was put on the back burner, interest was lost and properly stored for years.

In 2000 this gem was discovered in amazing shape. So now it was time to finish what the previous owner dreamed of but it would be another eight years before this car would finally reclaim its glory. The engine (400 small block) was fully rebuilt painted (blue with metal flake) & fully dressed in chrome. The transmission was also rebuilt, dressed in chrome accents & painted to match the engine. the front & rear suspension was fully rebuilt & triple chrome plated. New radiator, booster, calipers were painted to match. New custom dual exhaust with glass packs attached to ceramic coated shorty headers for that true lowrider sound (low toned for cruising & aggressive at the flooring of the accelerator. Car has now been featured in magazine, music videos and many articles. Due to the age of car there is some chips in paint but still does very well in car shows. My intentions for car was to be a dependable cruiser not a trailer queen, plus I think that as in the scars of life the chips give the car character. If it is a true 1970's lowrider you are looking for you have found it.

GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales

Mon, 04 Nov 2013

Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.

Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1

Wed, Aug 20 2014

Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. These are the five most ridiculous attacks on the Chevy Volt [w/videos]

Thu, Aug 7 2014

It's been a long, strange trip for the Chevy Volt from the time when the now-odd-looking concept version (above) was introduced at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show to today. And now, General Motors announced that the second-generation Chevy Volt will make an appearance at the 2015 Detroit show in January. This debut represents a victory for GM with what has easily become the most politicized car of the 21st Century. There are plenty of reasons for someone to criticize the Volt, but what's amazing is just how much anti-Volt energy has been spent not on things like the styling or how the EREV setup is not as efficient as a pure-EV powertrain. As we wait for more official information on the new Volt, we thought it would be fun to go back and look at some of the most wildly incorrect reporting and strangest attacks on the Volt from the archives. There is so much good stuff out there, it was hard to pare the list down, but these are our five favorites. Amazingly, they're not all clips from Fox News. Check 'em out below. 5. GM Is Going To Stop Making The Chevy Volt In The US Do you remember when GM was about to move Volt production to China? Well, yeah, this was reported back in early 2012 when a GM executive mentioned that the automaker would get benefits of building the Volt in the places where it sells them. This was spun into a story of GM taking Obama bailout money and then running to China. The Blaze was not happy: "Given the fact that Federal government helped itself to millions and millions of taxpayer dollars under the pretense that it was going to combat high unemployment by creating 'green jobs,' it would seem that moving research and development (and possibly manufacturing) overseas is slightly, well, counterproductive." Well, of course, that never happened. There's no way to say that GM will never build a version of the Volt in China, but the news we hear rumors of these days is that GM is going to move production of more Volt parts (specifically, the motors) to Michigan from overseas. 4. The Chevy Volt Is A Fire Trap There has never been a Volt that just spontaneously lit up while driving down the road. Yes, there were Volts that caught on fire. Yes, that's a scary thing. But there has never been a Volt that just spontaneously lit up while driving down the road. These were crashed test vehicles with destroyed batteries and plugged-in vehicles that were not the cause.
