1972 Chevrolet Caprice Chevy Immaculate Original Survivor 53,000 Miles Impala on 2040-cars

Here is an absolutely SPECTACULAR and incredible car!  This is a 1972 Chevrolet Caprice 4 door sedan with only 53,000 ORIGINAL MILES!  In my opinion, it would actually pass for half that many (25k to 30k)!  This Original Survivor is an unbelievable time capsule!  I acquired it from a family member of the original owner.  This family member had owned it for 32 years!  Car has always been pampered, garaged, and never driven in snow or ice.  All original body panels, floors, etc.  No patch panels, and not rusted out or bondoed.  Body is nice and straight.  Not full of door dings or "parking lot rash".  Ready to drive or take to cruise ins or shows.

Very striking in Sequoia Green  with black deluxe cloth interior, this Caprice is equipped as follows:

1.  400 Cubic Inch V8 engine

2.  3 speed automatic transmission.

3.  Power steering and power disc brakes

4.  AM radio

5.  Deluxe cloth and vinyl interior group and appearance group

6   Black Landau vinyl top

7.  Exterior appearance group including bumper guards, door edge guards, and factory fender skirts

8.  Air Conditioning (new compressor, and changed over to newer type refrigerant)

This beautiful Caprice is an un-restored original Survivor and looks great!  Nice and shiny, not faded or oxidized.  Chrome, emblems, and bright work are also bright and crisp.  This is one of the most original cars I have seen in awhile.  It has never been detailed or cleaned up under the hood or in the trunk!  Still looks great!  Underside of car is also nice and clean.  The interior is immaculate and original.  No cracks in dash or door panels.  Headliner and cloth on seats looks great!

As you would imagine, this car hits the road just great!  The engine and transmission are smooth and powerful.  Cruises effortlessly at highway speeds, with no problems or issues that I am aware of.  Only things that don't work are the clock and the AM radio.  Radio seems to come on, but I believe the speaker is blown.  I drove it on a 225 mile trip recently with no problems at all.  I would not be afraid to drive anywhere!  I have been getting between 14 and 17 MPG on Regular 87 Octane unleaded gasoline.

Car has 4 white wall radial tires with excellent tread.  Original spare is in trunk.  Also original mat and cardboard insert pieces.

The best way I can describe this car is to imagine you have a time machine that could transport you back to late 1974 or early 1975.  It is like going to your Chevy dealer back then and buying a 2 or 3 year old well cared for car off the front line of his used car department!  Yes, before you moan and groan that it is a 4 door, I wish it was a 2 door too!  However, I would much rather have a virgin, un-molested, honest 4 door than a thrown together 2 door for much more money that is full of rust and bondo!  Great car for Survivor class at car shows or vintage car tours.  Remember, they are only original once!

Failure to do this may result in my cancelling your bid and blocking you from bidding on my items. I understand that new members can be great customers, but I must talk to you first. Thanks a lot.

I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for l

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.

Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error

Sun, Feb 8 2015

After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare. Two More Recalls Push GM Total To 4.8 Million In A Month

Mon, Mar 31 2014

General Motors announced two more recalls late Friday, bringing to 4.8 million the number of cars, trucks and SUVs the automaker has called back for repairs in the past month. The string of recalls, topped by an ignition switch problem in compact cars now linked to 13 crash deaths, has embarrassed the company and sidetracked its new CEO, who started work just over two months ago. GM has admitted knowing about the switch problem a decade ago, yet it didn't recall any cars until February. The recall delay has brought two congressional investigations and probes by the Justice Department and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Late Friday night, GM announced it would recall 490,000 late-model pickup trucks and SUVs because transmission oil cooling lines weren't secured properly in their fittings. Transmission oil can leak from a fitting and hit hot surfaces, causing fires, the company said in a statement. GM said it knows of three fires and no injuries. The recall affects Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks from the 2014 model year, as well as 2015 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe SUVs and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs. All have six-speed automatic transmissions. The Silverado is GM's top-selling vehicle and an important profit center for the company. The GMC Sierra also is among GM's top sellers. Dealers will inspect the transmission oil cooling line fittings and make sure they're securely seated, at no cost to owners. Also Friday night, GM announced the recall of 172,000 Chevrolet Cruze compact cars because the right front axle shaft can fracture and separate while being driven. The recall affects cars from the 2013 and 2014 model years equipped with 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engines. If a shaft fractures, the wheels would lose power without warning and the cars would coast to a stop. GM says it has warranty reports of several dozen shaft fractures. It is not aware of any crashes or injuries. Dealers will replace the shafts free of charge. The recall allows dealers to resume selling affected Cruzes. GM issued a stop sale order on the cars Thursday night. The recall also covers about 2,500 replacement shafts used to fix manual transmission Cruzes that were recalled last September. In all, GM has recalled 4.8 million vehicles since last month, two million more than the company sold last year in the U.S.
