I purchased this from the original owner 5 years ago and have loved driving this car as well as lightly restoring it to the luster it now has. This 1967 Chevy Caprice Classic was purchased from Dooley Chevrolet in Somerville, NJ. It now resides with me in Somerset, NJ.

Here are a few details..
4 Door Hardtop
283ci V8 with 2bbl Carb
Powerglide Automatic Transmission
Air Conditioning
Power Steering

I consider this a light restoration since I started with a very solid everyday driver. It has an aftermarket air conditioning system which was added most likely in the early 70s. It has since been upgraded by the original owner to the modern R134a refrigerant system. It blows cold! The generator was also replaced with a modern alternator. I replaced the padded dash, installed new chrome arm rests, new stainless trim around the wheel wells and headlight eyebrow moldings, all other stainless trim was polished, new carpeting, new correct rubber floor mats, new trunk weatherstrip, new roof rail weatherstrip, new under hood insulation, new rear shelf behind rear seat, removed and resealed front windshield and rear glass before installing new vinyl top. All trim was removed prior to being professionally painted the original color in PPG basecoast/clearcoat, color sanded and buffed.

The engine was rebuilt approx 20,000 miles ago and runs clean and strong. I recently performed a full tune-up with new plugs, points, condenser, cap and rotor, and set timing and dwell. Everything works! eadliner is in great shape as is the rear seat. The front seat has a seat cover over the original but does have a rip. I routinely take this car on long drives. New tires were installed a couple thousand miles ago.

Not pictured are the spare and jack but they are included. Also have the original wheel covers but the car is currently wearing wheel covers from a different model year.

I'll miss this car but and happy to pass it along to a new loving owner. Contact me for additional questions or to come see in person.

Was the C7 Corvette cut from Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show?

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Someone was bound to receive a free 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray during the Super Bowl XLVII festivities; it just wasn't who we thought it was going to be. Despite a report back in December that superstar Beyoncé Knowles would be getting an all-new Corvette during her halftime performance, that turned out not to be the case. Joe Flacco, starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, did in fact win a Corvette for his MVP performance.
So what transpired that prevented Beyoncé from rolling on stage in the new Chevrolet? Anyone who knows isn't telling, but according to Yahoo! Autos, General Motors said that for one reason or another a deal "did not work out," and it appears to have been an eleventh-hour change. Regardless of who's to blame or what prevented this from happening, we're sure Chevy has had no problems getting attention for the C7 Corvette since it was introduced last month.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.
