1968 Camaro VIN 124378N463246

3rd owner car originally bought from the famous Brigance Chevrolet in Chicago, Ill.
49,950 documented miles. All oil change stickers with recorded dates and mileage. Both sets of original keys. Second owner (daughter of original owner) copy of title and original State of Illinois DMV envelope from 1978. Original 1968 window sticker, not a copy, preserved in plastic envelope. Vehicle retains its numbers matching original drive train down to the smog pump and carburetor tag. Original interior is superb.

About 50% of the car is in its original Rallye Green paint (5900JJ). Options were the 5F41C special purpose front and rear suspension, 5221AC style trim group, 5D96AA accent white striping (both side pin striping and bumble bee stripe), 5U35AA electric clock, 5B93AA door edge guards, 5A01AA tinted glass and 5U63AB AM radio.

Code LF7/M15 vehicle retains the original 327, 2 barrel, 210 hp engine with 3 speed manual transmission – shift on the column. Original 10 bolt, 3.08:1 rear. Manual steering along with manual drum brakes. Original interior except for new carpet. Vehicle was fully insulated with heat shield at time of installing GM licensed carpet kit. All windows, door locks and electrics operate including original clock and radio. All original Soft Ray glass is exceptionally good along with trim and rubber bumpers. All vent doors operate; kick panels and round dash vents. All 5 seat belts and harnesses operate and headliner and sun visors are in excellent condition. Original dash pad is in mint condition. Original jack and one original Uniroyal tire for the spare.

Spark plugs were changed in 1979 (46,610 miles) and 2nd title 2006 shows 48,371 miles.
Currently, the odometer displays 49,948 miles here in 2014 (just over 3000 miles in the past 35 years). I have the oil change and spark plug change tags along with title copies that document the mileage.

Car was made roadworthy by several new parts and removal of any rust. Body is in exceptional condition along with all mechanicals. New aluminized factory style exhaust. New are leaf springs, rear sub frame rails and bushings, stainless steel factory brake lines, brake components and drums. New floor pans and trunk pan along with gas tank and fuel lines. Rear outer wheelhouses along with trunk drop offs were replaced new and any lower quarter rust removed and replaced with new steel cut from new quarter panels. A reputable mechanic shop in Illinois installed a new stock cam and lifter set, timing chain and oil pump only 1,600 miles ago. This car had set in a garage with a tarp over the vehicle after the passing of the original owner from about 1981 to 2008, hence the floor replacement and mechanical work. New heater core installed and all cable controls and fan operate smoothly. The fenders have never been off the car.

I received a packet of documentation that contains over $6,400 worth of parts and labor receipts along with a disc of photos showing the progress of floor and sub frame rail replacement. I also made photos of all outside rust repairs and insulation. With only minor rust under the battery tray, this car can easily be fully painted for the first time and be a great car with the rare ‘three on the tree’ and 327 V8. This time capsule starts every time, drives and stops nicely, a joy to drive.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Best cars for snow and ice in 2023 and 2024

Tue, Jan 23 2024

What's the best car for snow? The real answer is "the one with winter tires." What do we mean by that? You could have the finest, most advanced all-wheel-drive system or four-wheel drive in the world, but if you're running all-seasons (the spork of tires), your fancy four-wheeler won't matter much. The odds are, any vehicle on the road running good winter tires will probably perform adequately in slippery, slushy and/or snowy road conditions. (Here's a more complete explanation of why winter tires are totally worth it). In other words, you don't really need any of the cars on this list. With a set of winter tires, countless others will do the job, and even these will be at their best with proper rubber. You can find a variety of winter tires for your car here at Tire Rack. Keep in mind that you will need a full set of four snow tires for safety and performance, no matter what you're driving. The days of your dad putting just two snows on the family truckster to get it moving in a straight line are long gone. Don't get us wrong, getting a car that performs well in snow and ice is still a worthy criteria for car buyers. According to the U.S. Transportation Department, 70% of Americans live in places that get snow and ice. And much of the country has been blasted with arctic air for much of the new year. So let's look at the cars. First, we're highlighting choices for a variety of buyers and price points. Second, we're not just considering snow; we're considering general wintery conditions people will experience driving to work or school. As such, these are all choices with advanced all-wheel-drive systems, usually with "torque-vectoring" systems that not only automatically shunt power front and back, but side to side between the rear axles. Most have extra ground clearance for getting through deep snow, and we prefer those vehicles with more responsive steering, throttles and transmissions that provide a greater sense of vehicle control in slippery conditions.    Acura RDX Read our Acura RDX Review Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system was one of the first to offer torque-vectoring, and besides often being touted for its ability to greatly enhanced dry-road handling, its benefits in the slick stuff can be profound. It's actually surprising that Acura hasn't leaned into this capability further by offering more rugged versions of its vehicles.

Before Chevrolet's Redline, there was the Saturn Red Line

Thu, Feb 9 2017

While Chevy rolls out Redline special editions across more of the lineup at this year's Chicago Auto Show, we've been eating some 'member berries and started thinking about the last time GM used the term. Back in 2004, Saturn rolled out Red Line (two words) editions of the Ion and Vue. The lineup was joined by the Sky Red Line in 2007, and the second-generation Vue kept the tradition going in 2008. This was in the heady days of the mid-2000s, before the financial crisis and GM's bankruptcy reorganization that saw the end of Saturn. The press release headline for the 2008 Sky is now cringe-worthy: "Hot-selling Sky helps drive Saturn product renaissance." Performance lineups were the hot new thing, as automakers attempted to cash in on the tuner trend popularized by The Fast and the Furious. Chevy had SS models, Pontiac had GXP, and Saturn had Red Line. Across the Detroit Metro area, Dodge had a slew of SRT models, and Ford's Special Vehicle Team brought us the SVT Lightning pickup, the SVT Focus, and a smattering of hopped-up Mustangs. The performance cred of Red Line models varied from car to car. The Ion Red Line shared the same engine as the original Chevy Cobalt SS, a 205-horsepower supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 65 hp more than stock. Car and Driver tested one with a 0-to-60-mph time of 6.1 seconds and said the Ion "tears down the wall that has separated enthusiasts from the Saturn brand for so long." The Vue Red Line, meanwhile, came with the same optional Honda-sourced 3.5-liter V6 you could get in the regular Vue, and added a stiffer, lower suspension, bigger wheels with more aggressive rubber, and recalibrated steering assist. When the Vue was redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Vue Red Line was a similar proposition. The engine was now from GM, and up 7 horsepower to 257, but you could get it in both Red Line and XE trim. Aside from the tire and suspension upgrades, Red Line models now came with a unique front fascia and rear exhaust cutouts. The most exciting Red Line, of course, was the high-performance version of the Sky roadster, which shared underpinnings with its Pontiac Solstice twin. This model came with GM's hot 2.0-liter Ecotec Turbo, good for 260 horsepower. The extra power was crucial in covering up the Sky's unfortunate manual gearbox ratios, which left the non-turbo model aching for torque in lower gears. As we all know, Saturn was taken by the grim reaper in 2009 after an attempt to sell the brand to the Penske Group.
