I bought this car for my wife early in 1999, just before we moved to Arizona. We spend summers in Wisconsin, and the car spends the summers tucked away in the garage, protected from the sun. One of the first things I did was add a stainless steel Flowmaster exhaust system for a nice, throaty rumble. It just sounds great!
All of the other bits are original, except for the sun visors, which I had recovered two years ago. There is a bit of sun-rot on the fabric at the top of the windscreen, which can be seen in two of the pictures. Other than that, all is in very good condition. For the most part, the car is not driven in the rain or snow, although both have happened while we were out, and it got wet or snowed on. The tires are in good shape, with many miles left. The engine area is clean...with a new battery this year...believe it or not, I replaced the original 14 year old battery. There is a 10 disk, CD player, hidden away in the trunk, and a tape player in the dash. Does anyone still have tapes? There are a few gravel chips on the hood, which have been spotted with matching touch-up paint, but they do show.
Garage kept...44,000 miles...extra-clean...no accidents...it's really pretty, and gathers a lot of very positive comments. Not bad for an almost virgin fouteen-year-old!

Man spent $75 on a truck that lasted 38 years
Mon, Jan 5 2015Absurd as it is, some buyers today are worried about getting their car to last throughout the term of their seven-year car loan. Minnesota resident Bob Sportel has the opposite issue: his Chevrolet truck seemingly won't die. Sportel needed a cheap ride to get to work when he took a job at a farmer's co-op 38 years ago, so he bought a rusty 1957 Chevy pickup for $75 from a farmer; at the time, the 20-year-old truck was almost as old as Bob was. After nearly four decades of daily driving and an estimated 300,000 miles, Sportel is still driving the truck today. Bolts secure a fender, Bondo secures the lights, what looks like a whole roll of duct tape keeps him sitting on the bench seat instead of in it. For a 58-year-old pickup that's never seen a garage or a new coat of paint – but did get its oil changed four times a year – that's not bad; Sportel thinks his repair bill hasn't got above $1,000 for the entire time he's owned the truck. 2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers
Fri, Oct 31 2014If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt.
