1996 Chevrolet Camaro Ss Red On Black Leather With Hurst 6-speed And T-tops on 2040-cars
Grand Haven, Michigan, United States
The vehicle presented here for your consideration is a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS. It is number 2156 out of 2269 such vehicles built for the 1996 model year. It is one of only 294 with the bright red exterior, T-Tops, and the manual six-speed transmission with the Hurst short-throw shifter. This car is also equipped with performance exhaust, optional torsen torque sensing limited slip rear differential with AAM aluminum cover, and the Camaro SS car cover.
Everything on the vehicle works as designed. The air conditioning blows cold, the power windows work, the factory correct Delco Bose AM/FM CD system sounds great, and the cruise control works. There are no warning lights illuminated in the instrument cluster. I just replaced the left front power window motor because it was working slowly and the upper dash panel because it was cracked. Recent maintenance and repairs are as follows: Feburary 22, 2013 at 89,499 miles - Replaced clutch disc, pressure plate, and throwout bearing Replaced rear differential pinion seal. Replaced front brake pads and both front brake rotors. May 10, 2013 at 89,652 miles - Oil changed with Mobil 1 10W30 and AC Delco PF454 oil filter. Replaced rear differential fluid and rear differential cover gasket. Replaced manual transmission fluid. July 16, 2013 at 90,690 miles - Replaced all four tires with BF Goodrich Comp T/A June 13, 2014 at 92,221 miles - Oil changed with Mobil 1 10W30 and AC Delco PF454 oil filter. Replaced left front power window motor. This car is mechanically sound with no known problems and I would trust it to take me anywhere. It sounds great, runs well, and looks fantastic. I had no intention of selling it, but I just bought the 1997 30th Anniversary SS that I've always wanted. Unfortunately, I can't afford to have them both so I am passing this vehicle on for someone else to enjoy. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have or call me at 616-291-5169. Thank you for your interest and good luck bidding. |

"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]
Thu, 07 Feb 2013For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.
Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
Cadillac could base its entry-level sedan on the Chevy Cruze [UPDATE]
Wed, Apr 27 2016UPDATE: Cadillac spokesperson Donny Nordlicht tells Autoblog , "The post speculating on a future Cadillac model derived from the Chevrolet Cruze is completely false." Premium automakers Mercedes-Benz and Audi have seen plenty of success with new small front-drive-based sedans. The CLA-Class had its best January ever this year, while Audi moved more of its new A3 in 2015 than its predecessor sold in 2005 through 2010 combined. The fact that Cadillac wants a piece of that pie is no surprise, then. There's a new rumor that GM's luxury brand could launch its own compact – possibly called CT2 – to battle the Germans. Cadillac, a brand that's pushed hard to rebuild its rear-drive reputation, could develop a new entry-level model based on the front-wheel-drive 2016 Chevrolet Cruze's D2XX platform. Go ahead and make your Cimarron jokes. Sources are telling GM Inside News that a Cadillac built on the Delta platform would ditch the Cruze's turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder for a 1.5-liter turbo in base models. General Motors' well received 2.0-liter turbo four would serve in higher-end models. According to GMIN, the Delta-based Cadillac would likely command a $6,000 to $9,000 premium over the Cruze, so figure $23,000 to $26,000 on the low end to $30,000 to $33,000 for something at the top of the range. As much as we dislike the kind of badge engineering that brought us the Cavalier-based Cadillac Cimarron in the '80s, the company has done an admirable job of distinguishing vehicles on shared platforms lately. A Delta-platform Cadillac would at least have a good basis – the new Cruze is surprisingly comfy. That said, we question GM's rationale if this rumor is indeed true. Put simply, Cadillac needs another sedan like I need another student loan payment. The company has four sedans, three of which overlap two segments, and none of which are selling very well. That's not because they're bad, but because customers want crossovers, of which Caddy has but one – the new XT5. Spending the time and money to add a fifth sedan to the mix when the company desperately needs to flesh out its CUV range would be a tremendous mistake. As much as we hate to say it, if Cadillac really wants to add a small, entry-level car to its range, it'd better be a crossover. Related Video:
