For sale is my 1986 IROC-Z.  I have owned this car for about 4 years.  It has a brand new 350 motor built by Shawn Bee.  He is the builder of engines for Moser Engineering.  Moser Engineering is one of the world's best makers of racing axles.  Shawn gave me a 1 year warrenty and it was built in September of 2012.  The motor has about 3000 miles on it.  I have already had him change the oil.  When Shawn put the motor in he put in a new starter, alternator and new wiring.  He also changed the fluids in the transmission and rear axle.  I was told when I bought this car that it had a Hess Transmission and Borg Warner rear end.  The car has posi-traction.  This car is not a shade tree mechanic car.  Every gauge works in the car.  The electric hatch works with a key or on the console.  Heat works great.  The dome light works.  The beeping noise when you leave your lights on and open the door still works.  It has tilt-wheel.  It has brand new wheels and the original wheels go with the car also.  The tires are excellent with plenty of tread.  Interior is original to the car.  The dash has no cracks at all.  It could use a new headliner.  It is sagging but not ripped.  The paint is what I would car a 10 footer.  Looks excellent from 10 feet but when you get up close it shows some age.  My guess is the paint was done about 12 years ago.  Brand new Flowmaster muffler and dual exhaust with stainless tips.  The car sounds sinister.  This has been my baby and I had no intention of selling.  I have the motorcycle fever.  I am selling because I am looking for a Harley.  Please email with any and all questions and I will respond quickly.  Thank you, Rickie

General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem

Thu, Feb 13 2014

General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed. Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes

Tue, 28 Aug 2012

Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.
