Hello and thank you for taking the time to check out my listing. :-)

What we have here is a clean corrosion free ( let me be clear, any obvious corrosion) 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z from Florida. I am 3rd owner. Speedometer shows 94k I know this to be actual mileage because I personally replaced the speedometer with a 145 mph unit from a speedometer shop in Tennessee and requested them set replacement speedometer to match existing mileage. This car was originally equipped with a TPI 305.

At this point I need to tell you a little about my back ground. I am 41 years old and have been working on cars for 23 years. The last 10 of which I have really gotten into conversions of all sorts. I hold ASE certifications in Automotive and A&P certifications for Aircraft maintenance and repair. I also hold a certification as an Aircraft Electrician from the United States Navy. My hobbies include auto, ATV, motorcycle and small engine repair, building and modification. To say the least I have a clue when it comes to Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic or Electrical maintenance and repair in Automotive, Aircraft, ATV and Motorcycle. Any How when I do something, I do it right.

This car comes with 2 books. 1 is a factory GM repair manual the second is a book I have put together showing all the modifications I have made and the wiring diagrams to give a qualified technician the info he or she would need to trouble shoot or repair the wiring if needed. Doubt that would ever happen but I figured it would be nice to have...

I took a clean 1985 Camaro IROC-Z and removed the engine, transmission, rear end and Computer.

Once computer was removed I rewired dual electric fans to a temp sensor and relay to come on automatically once engine reaches 180 deg or the A/C is turned on. Either will activate the dual electric fans.

Electric fuel pump in tank was replaced with an Edelbrock high output 255 liter/hr pump. All existing wiring and relay were reused just rewired to activate pump once key is placed in the run position.

At the track: Car weighed 3735 lbs with 1/2 tank of gas and my 200 lb ass in it, and ran 12.80 sec and 107.7 mph in the quarter on a hot                           humid day......Motor only...No Nitrous. Don't have a time on the nitrous. So when you do the math that works as follows                                 HP=weight x 0.4 x (1/4 mile mph / 282) So That works out as follows HP=3735 lbs x 0.4 x (107.7 mph / 282) which works out to                     hp = 3735 x 0.4 x .3819149 So HP for this motor is approx 570 hp at the crank, give or take. That's how much hp it takes                       to push 3735 lbs to a speed of 107.7 mph in a quarter mile.

Engine: Was replace with a  400 small block out of a 1974 Monte Carlo.
The 400 was Bored .30 over which makes it a 406ci or 6.7L  the Compression ratio works out to 10.2-1. Forged dome pistons, Stage             2 rods, High performance cast crank. ARP main studs and windage tray. Entire rotating assembly was ordered from PAW in                         California and was race balanced. Card is in the book that comes with the car. Also for you gear heads out there, this is not a normal             400 rotating assembly. Its been know for some time in the hot rod community that the 400's week point is its short connecting                       rods. This engine was designed and built with 350 connecting rods and special pistons that are made for this reconfigure. This builds               more horsepower and increases rpms and durability of the engine. This thing will safely rev to 6000+ rpms all day long. Engine was                 assembled by Dixon high performance engines in Norcross GA. This engine was built with Nitrous use in mind. So clearances are                 loose enough to use on a regular basis if wanted.

Valve train: I used a comp cams MM thumper roller cam   lift  int 522    exh 509   duration 291  311. cam card is in the book.
Cam and crank are gear driven. Roller lifters to match cam and also roller rockers. Its all in the book.

Heads:  World Products Sportsman II angle plug Iron heads.Combustion chamber is 64cc and 7/16 rocker studs were used for high rpm                      strength.

Mounts: Poly engine and trans mounts.

Oil cooler: factory oil cooler heat ex changer from a 91 TPI Trans Am. Keeps oil from over heating during high performance use.

Induction: is an Edelbrock EnduraShine Air gap with a holly 770 ultra street avenger 4 corner idle and vac secondary with dual float bowls like a double                      pumper.

Ignition: is accomplished with a Flame thrower III Billet distributor with a built in adjustable rev limiter set at 6200 rpm this thing will rev strait to                           it...Adjustment procedures are in the book.

Nitrous oxide: kit has been installed on this engine and ran i bottle threw it.
Need ignition retard unit to use on a constant basis

Transmission:  700R-4 stage 3 from Mad Dog Transmissions out of cumming Ga with a 2500 stall converter. Also has a cooler mounted in                             front of ac condenser in nose of car. This trans has a lock up kit installed in the valve body and the wiring is in the car. Just                           never finished hooking it up to the brake pedal. will throw in the needed parts to winning bidder. Will not ever hurt trans if it                             does not lock up. 700R-4 dosnt need it, but you will get a little better gas mileage on highway.

Rear end: has been converted to a Borg Warner 9 Bolt disc brake Limited Slip (posi) with a gear ratio of 3.90-1. The speedometer gears have                  been changed to keep accurate readings and mileage. Rear end has been completely rebuilt, sand blasted and painted, built with                  all new bearings seals and the use of a smart sleeve instead of a crush sleeve. This makes the pinion more stable. Also the main                  cap bolts have been replaced with ARP studs and an Aluminum Girdle cover installed which gives the main caps an additional 6                    thousand pounds of strength.

Tires and wheels : Rear re Nitto Drag radials and front are in good shape no alignment problems. Wheels are aluminum alloy IROC replica.                                 with new O.E. center caps.

Cooling System: Cooling is accomplished with a Summit 2 row thick aluminum radiator and factory dual electric fans from 87 IROC TPI car.
                         Cools great.

Exhaust:  Long tube Stainless steel works headers with 1 3/4 inch primary and 2 1/2 collector  dual 2.5 in into a 3 inch y pipe. Then 3 inch                     all the way back to a hooker super comp exhaust with dual 2.5 outlets

Brakes:     All 4 calipers are new. Front rotors are new and slotted, Brake system flushed with fresh fluid and hawks pads installed front and                    back.New stainless steel braided flex lines all the way around. New master cylinder. Because of the large cam duration the                            engine vacuum at idle is only around 6-8 in of vacuum. Not enough for power brakes. I have installed a back up electric vacuum                      pump under the drivers front fender just forward of the wheel well. This seems to do the trick nicely. Wiring diagrams are in the                        book.

Electrical: All Lights and gauges work. stereo is a new cd player with all 4 new speakers.

Fluid Leaks: NONE of any kind

Video: if you want to see video of car in action and hear it run send me a request and i will e-mail you the Urls. E-bay wont let me put the                   links in this text.

Ok..... Here is the bad......

Car is 28 years old Needs a  paint job. has scratches and paint chips, headliner could use some work and drivers seat needs redone also needs new carpet.
Smokes a little when you first start it up when cold only (white smoke Fuel). You can run the A/C on the interstate but around town after 20 minutes or so in stop and go traffic the engine will start to run hot. Too much for the 400 in town. Runs cool in town without A/C on no problem.
Could use new window seals.

I have described this car as best as I can.

I know this is allot of money, But I have 20 grand in this. I am having financial trouble and need to pay off debt. I will build another one later. If you have any questions please call, text or email me or something........... Dom 678-997-9299

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be

Thu, May 27 2021

We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be. GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.

GM Halts Sale Of Most Chevy Cruze Models

Fri, Mar 28 2014

General Motors has told dealers to stop selling some 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze compact cars. But the company won't say why. Dealers say stop-sale orders are routine and almost always made to fix a safety problem. They received the order in an e-mail Thursday, but no reason was given. The move comes as GM deals with fallout from a delayed recall of 1.6 million older small cars to fix an ignition switch problem. The company says the switches can slip out of the run position and shut down the engine. That causes loss of power steering and brakes and disables air bags. GM says the problem has been linked to 31 crashes and at least a dozen deaths. Spokesman Greg Martin says he has no details on the Cruze.
