This 1971 Camaro is a big time head-turner! I can't even count the number of times people have stopped me at gas stations and stoplights to ask about it! It's bean such a great car to me, and it KILLS me to have to let it go... but after I moved to Florida last Fall, my wife and I need the money badly. I'm only 24, so I'll eventually buy another classic Camaro again, but for now my loss will be your gain!
This is a fantastic car and it's in great shape, no not perfect (those will cost you $20K-$30K easily), but still in GREAT shape. The most important thing to look for in a classic Camaro is a strong motor and trans that'll last you a long time. When I bought this car a year ago, the previous owner of nearly a decade told me that it had a fairly new 350 Chevy crate motor in it with about 3000 miles on it and a freshly rebuilt Turbo 350 automatic transmission. I've put about 10,000 miles on the car since I bought it last year (never raced it or anything, just drove it to car shows and the beach every now and then). Plus, the previous owner had a new aluminum driveshaft put in as well. I know this car runs beautifully because I drove it almost 1000 miles from Virginia to Florida when my wife and I moved down here last Fall with absolutely no problems. So, you can rest assured in knowing this Camaro is going keep on driving for MANY years to come!
As you can see in the pictures and the video, the paint is in good condition and still shines wonderfully. It is an older paint job (I was told about 10 years old), but you can tell it was a really high grade professionally done paint job when it was first applied to the car, but has now begun to show small signs of wear. There are two small rust-bubbles coming through the paint (one small one right behind the passenger side window and one behind the passenger side door down by the rear wheel). In some of the pictures you can also see a small dent with a little bit of chipped paint on the front driver side fender (not too difficult/expensive of a job to have fixed), and that was there when I bought the car. Apparently the previous owner backed his other car into the Camaro in his driveway and just barely bumped the front fender enough to dent it. There is also a small rust hole under the rear passenger side seat. I'm pretty sure I sanded away the rust from the hole, so it shouldn't grow any further but it is still there (an easy patch-up job). Also,
The car needs a new headliner, however I already have the appropriate black vinyl material, the bows, and the clips needed to install it. You'll just have to get someone to do it for you professionally. All of the headliner materials are included in this sale.
Since I bought the car last year, these are the improvements I have had done to it professionally:
-added all new chrome trimming to the tops of the doors, fenders, and hood
- replaced window felt on both doors to ensure better protection from water getting inside the doors
- replaced the cheap rubbery and worn aftermarket steering wheel with a nice real wood and chrome steering wheel with accurate "Camaro" emblem on the horn cap
-reupholstered the back seats with brand new pleated black vinyl seat covers
- replaced the worn out cloth, modern racing bucket seats in the front with two brand new pleated black vinyl ProCar low-back classic-styled seats that do recline forward and backward (they have sliders that allow the seats to slide forward and backward, but the pull-rod that connects the under-seat handle to the slider locks somehow came loose on both seats. So, they are capable of sliding, but those pull-rods would have to be fastened back to the slider locks)
-added 4 brand new matching black cloth floor mats
-had an entirely new Flowmaster true-dual exhaust system installed (which sounds AMAZING- the video doesn't do it justice)
-new distributor, all new wires, new spark plugs, new hoses, new air cleaner, flushed the radiator and put in a new balance of water and antifreeze.
-all new correct fender and rear deck lid "Camaro"chrome emblems.
-Also, a wheel-to-brake lock bar is included for theft prevention, as well as a fitted grey car cover
This Camaro also has:
-17 inch chrome FOOSE wheels
-front disc power brakes, rear drum
-solid trunk pan
-solid metal wheel-wells, not the cheap plastic kind that can be found in many cheaper restorations
-whale tail style rear deck lid spoiler
-straight front bumper, not split
-all front and rear lights, blinkers and side markers work flawlessly
-interior overhead dome light works perfectly
-new Sony radio/CD/AUX input mp3 player and new Sony sound system with great sound and bass performance
-glove box lock is fully functional and a working key is included
-Speedometer and odometer are functional, but the odometer reading is an erroneous number unrelated to the car's actual mileage. The speedometer reads consistently at roughly 20mph faster than what you are actually driving.
-the fuel gauge does not work
-There is a removable center console with storage compartment.
-there is a B&M shifter with a shift kit in the transmission so you can choose to drive with completely automatic transmission, or you can manually shift gears without needing a clutch
-the horn does not work
-the doors do lock, but there is no key to unlock/lock them. So, NEVER lock the doors! That's why a wheel-to-pedal lock bar is included in this sale to prevent theft. However, the trunk does lock and there is a key that can be used with it (but it doesn't work for the doors)
-all the windows, rear and front windshields are in solid condition and are crack-free, but do have minor signs of wear.
-both door panels are in fantastic cosmetic/physical condition
-the dashboard has some small amounts of warping up near the windshield from sun exposure over the years, but it is crack-free and the texture/black color are still in fantastic shape.
-despite having vents for A/C & heat, there is no A/C compressor or duct work to supply it (just roll those windows down!)
-fairly new and very clean black carpeting throughout the interior's floor
- the right exhaust pipe hangs a little low because the bracket that was used to hold it up disconnected and needs to be fixed (it's a small repair that I never got around to doing), so I temporarily fastened the exhaust pipe to the frame so it wouldn't vibrate/bounce on the frame while driving.
-the windshield wipers work flawlessly
-there are adjustable air-shocks in the rear so you can manually adjust the height of the rear end with an air compressor
-it has Holly Avenger performance carburetor
-it has ceramic headers with 3-inch exhaust pipes
-and I'm sure there's more to tell you, but I've drawn a blank for the moment.
I'm an honest guy, and I'm trying to be as truthful and transparent as I possibly can about this car. What's great about this Camaro is that it looks like a show car that can fit right in with other classic cars and still look great. Like I said before, it's a true head-turner! However, you're getting it for a great and very affordable price because it does have a few semi-small cosmetic repairs that need to be done (all mentioned above). Once you see it in person and drive it, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Have a look through the pictures for better reference, and visit this YouTube link to see an HD video I made of this beautiful 1971 Camaro:

Also, I shot this video with my phone to show the various aspects of the car that I tried to address in the description above:
My cellphone number is 571.225.(one-nine-eight-three), and my email is chadainsworth@me(DOT)com (formed that way to prevent spammers! It is in fact ".com"). Also, you as the buyer are responsible for determining, paying for, and arranging your shipping method for this Camaro. I have heard FedEx is a fairly priced option for large freight shipments like this, so you might want to try contacting them.
Thanks,
Chad

Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV
Mon, Jul 20 2015A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS
Thu, Jan 29 2015Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect. Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?
Sat, Sep 23 2017If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below.
