I am sure there is nothing out there this like this car. It took 5 years to build and was done right in every way.
I bought the car originally in Wisconsin and sent it directly to Muscle Up Performance in Janesville, Wisconsin.
Check their website and you will some of the info on the car. Rich Bickle the owner and former NASCAR driver re-did
the body and built the chassis.
The full chassis frame was built the similar to the way NASCAR teams build theirs but without the full roll cage.
Full tubular design with mounting points to the original Camaro mounts. The mounts are solid and there is no flex
in the chassis or movement where it isn’t wanted. This keeps the suspension geometry exact continuously. The
shocks and coils are fully adjustable with ride height and car load. QA-1 products were used.
The front end has a Sweet power steering rack, tubular A arms, Heim joints at all pivot points, tie rod end and
ball joint locations. Brakes are Wildwoods best 4 piston calipers and large rotors.
Muscle up Performance took the car to bare metal and then gave it a perfect pain job in GM Corvette red. The hood
is fiberglass with a stinger scoop accented in silver. Really makes the car come alive.
The engine is a new crate LS6 with a 6 speed T56, The McLeaod hydraulic throw bearing was purchased to ensure
trouble free operation and simplicity for bleeding and operation. A 3 ½ inch drive shaft was sourced and connected
to Winters Ford 9" rear end with a 3.70 gear and posi. The 4 link suspension controls the movement of the rear end
again with QA1 coils and adjustable shocks, 450 lb/in used on the rear. Brakes again are Wildwood.
The black leather interior seats were taken from a newer GM vehicle with six way adjustment. The rears were
sectioned to fit and the complete installation looks factory. The door panels and console were done in a matching
black leatherette which was also wrapped around the original dash. New gauges were added and the overall effect
with the black low pile carpet giving it sporty but elegant look.
An aluminum rad with two electric fans was added to cool the engine.
All engine management and sensors were provide by Turnkey engines with a Painless wiring installation. They
certainly do a great job with their packages.
The car was complete last year and I drove it 60 miles to a local car shown. Having driven all types of performance
cars in the past 40 years this was one of the best handling and driving cars I have driven with a ride to rival
only the newest performance car designs. This is not the type of car I drove some 45 years ago when I got my
license. The first thing that I noticed after the build was there was way more chassis then engine. I then added a
Procharger Supercharger and ATI pinned balancer. A water to air intercooler, pump and cooler were added to help
cool the charge. The final inclusions were a water/methanol injection system, MSD coil packs and wires were added
to ensure a reliable spark.
The wheels are Foose 18 inch rim 8” in the front and 9.5” in the rear. The tires are 235/45x18 on the front and
rears are 275/35x 18.
The car has 0 miles with this set-up. I don’t have the time to enjoy all the vehicles I built and have now. The
car would cost more than $100K to reproduce as that is what I spent to date

Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.

The best Super Bowl car commercials from the last 5 years

Wed, Jan 28 2015

If you've been dipping into the Autoblog feed over the past days and weeks, you wouldn't even have to be a sports fan to know the Super Bowl is coming up. Automakers have been teasing their spots for the big game, dropping them days early, fully-formed onto the Internet and otherwise trying to amp up the multi-million-dollar outlays that they've made for air time on the biggest advertising day of the year. And, we're into it. The lead up to the Super Bowl is almost akin to a mini auto show around these parts; with automakers being amongst the most prolific advertisers on these special Sundays. The crop of ads from 2015 looks as strong as ever, but we thought we'd take a quick look back at some of our favorite spots from the last five years. Take a look at our picks – created from a very informal polling of Autoblog editors and presented in no particular order – and then tell us about your recent faves, in Comments. Chrysler, Imported From Detroit Chrysler, Eminem and a lingering pan shot of "The Fist" – it doesn't get much more Motown than 2011's Imported From Detroit. With the weight of our staffers hailing from in and around The D, it's no wonder that our memories still favor this epic Super Bowl commercial (even though the car it was shilling was crap). Imported really set the tone for later Chrysler ads, too, repeated the formula: celebrity endorsement + dramatic copy + dash of jingoism = pulled car-guy heartstrings. Mercedes-Benz, Soul teaser with Kate Upton One of our favorite Super Bowl commercials (and yours, based on the insane number of views you logged) didn't even technically air during the game. Mercedes-Benz teased its eventual spot Soul with 90-seconds worth of Kate Upton threatening to do her best Joy Harmon impression. (Teaser indeed.) It doesn't win points for cleverness, use of music, acting, or any compelling carness, but it proved that Mercedes' advertisers knew how to make a splash in the Internet Age. And, hey, it's still classier than every GoDaddy commercial. Kia, A Dream Car. For Real Life Like the Mercedes video above, the initial draw here is a pretty lady; in this case the always stunning Adriana Lima. But this Kia commercial really delivers the extra effort we expect while scarfing crabby snacks and homemades, too. First of all, Motley Crue. Second, a cowboy on a bucking rhino. Enjoy yet again.

EcoCar2 is on the hunt for a better, cleaner Chevy Malibu [w/video]

Thu, Jun 12 2014

The students spent three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. Not far from the building where General Motors once invented the Chevy Volt, a dozen or so college students are standing on the blacktop alongside a test track, watching a professional driver push the limits of a plug-in hybrid car they've built that's far more radical. These students, from Colorado State University, have spent the past three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. At first glance, it still looks like a regular sedan. But under the hood, they've installed a hybrid powertrain that contains both hydrogen and electric power sources. Even by the standards of the Department of Energy competition they're participating in, it's an outlier. That's exactly what they had in mind. "We didn't want to come here and tell them how to build a better Volt," said Tom Bradley, faculty adviser for the Colorado State team. "They already know how to do that. We can tell them how to think about these possibilities in a whole new way." After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The Colorado State team was one of 15 that came to GM's Milford Proving Grounds last week for the final stretch of the EcoCar2 competition, which challenges regular college students who have no automotive experience to do nothing less than reinvent the American car. The teams have come from across North America, and include schools like Ohio State and Virginia Tech that have a long history of participating in similar competitions, and schools like the University of Washington and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that are here for the first time. After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The teams have operated 24 hours a day for almost two weeks here at the Proving Grounds, running a gamut of tests that include a 310-point safety inspection, emissions and energy-consumption tests and road tests, in which professional GM drivers ensure they're road worthy. The winning team will be announced tonight in Washington D.C. Revolutionary cars, ordinary package While other green-car competitions encourage extreme designs, this one comes with a somewhat constraining twist: Yes, students must improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, but in the end, they still have to have a car that would appeal to mainstream customers. In practical terms, that means they must keep conveniences like air conditioning and trunk space.
