I am listing this car as a favor to the owner who is not comfortable with the internet marketing of a car like this.  You can reach me with questions about the car at 760-802-9376.  Anything I can't answer I will forward you to the owner.  There will be a nonrefundable deposit of $250 with 24 hours of the close of auction.

This is a 1969 Camaro that was built in the Van Nuys, California plant and has remained in Southern California it's entire life never having lived more than 20 miles from the selling dealership.  It has had three owners.  The current owner has had it for 3 years and he bought it from a guy that had it for 31 years (28 years off the road).  That long-time owner is still around and is willing to talk about the car.  The car was originally Rally Green and was painted Daytona Yellow by the second owner.  The current owner had it redone in Cortez Silver.

The car has it's original engine, M20 4 speed transmission and 373 12 bolt posi rear.  The engine and trans underwent an extensive rebuild in the past three years along with the brake system and a recored original UH radiator.  It runs, drives and sounds just like a 69 Z/28 should.  Very tight with no mechanical issues.  The engine retains many of it's original components and the numbers are listed below.  The one significant component not original is the carburetor.  The car has been driven about 1000 miles since all of the work was completed.

Block - 3956618
Block stamp - 19L520466  V0121DZ
Crank - 3941178
Heads - 3927186  Dated A139 and A159
Intake 3932472
Distributor - 1111480 Dated 8M16
Flywheel - 3791021
Alternator - 1100837 Dated 8L9
Starter - 1108367 Dated 8L27
Water pump - 3927170 Dated K88
Radiator - UH tag CB main tank dated L (Dec.)
All correct pulleys and harmonic balancer
The exhaust manifolds are correct reproductions

The transmission is P9A06A with the original vin stamp.
The rear end has a cast date of A 14 9 and an assembly date stamp of BU 0122

The paint is a 10 on a 10 scale.  Gorgeous Cortez Silver.  Zero rust in the car and never has been.  The tail panel and both full rear quarters were replaced due to some minor rear end damage that occurred many years ago.  The current owner wanted nothing to do with bondo so the sheet metal was replaced.  There was no damage to the frame rails whatsoever.

The interior is new with the exception of the back seat and seat belts which are original.  The bottom of the car is nice but could benefit from some detailing.

This is a bare bones car with the only option being spoilers.  The cowl hood was added at some point but the original flat hood which has been painted and striped is included with the sale.

A few things about the car are not correct including the steering wheel, exhaust tips, and incorrect coded rally wheels.

The owner has an old invoice from Jack Coyle Chevrolet in San Bernardino but it shows an M22 transmission and the body number is off by one digit so we can't swear to the legitimacy of it.  He also has tons of receipts for parts bought over the past few years.

This car is the pride and joy of the owner and his wife and it is evident from the moment you see the car.  The only reason for selling is their desire to build more of a restomod and they didn't want to harm this car.

So, how do you actually pronounce that automaker's name?

Thu, Jan 21 2016

You probably have that friend who always says Porsche wrong, or maybe it's someone who keeps reminding you it's actually two syllables. Whichever side of the pronunciation debate you fall on, you'll find someone to root for in the video above. And before you ask, this was all the video team's idea. So don't get mad at me for being the voice of reason. BMW Chevrolet Hyundai Nissan Rolls-Royce Videos Original Video nissan qashqai

Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.

24 Hours of Le Mans live update part two

Sun, Jun 19 2016

We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice. Parker lives in Hawaii and can hold his breath longer than he can go without swearing. For Part One, click here. Or you can skip ahead to Part Three here. I write about surfing for a living. If you can call it a living. Basically means I spend my days fucking around and my wife pays for everything. Because she's got a real job that pays well. Brings home the bacon. Very progressive arrangement. Super twenty first century. I run a surf website, beachgrit.com, with two other guys. It's a strange gig. More or less uncensored. Kind of popular. Very good at alienating advertisers. My behavior has cost us a few bucks. I'm terrible at self-censorship. Know there's a line out there, no idea where it lies. I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. For contests I do long rambling write ups. They rarely make much sense. Mainly just talk about my life, whatever random thoughts pop into my head. "Can you do something similar for Le Mans?" "Sure, but I know absolutely fuck-all about racing." "That's okay. Just write what you want." "Will do. But you're gonna need to edit my stuff. Probably censor it heavily." So here I am. I spent the last week trying to learn all I can about the sport of endurance racing. But there's only so much you can jam in your head. And I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. While I rambled things were happening. Tracy Krohn spun into the gravel on the Forza chicane. #89 is out of the race after an accident I missed. Pegasus racing hit the wall on the Porsche curves. Bashed up front end, in the garage getting fixed. Toyota and Porsche are swapping back and forth in the front three. Ford back in the lead in GTE Pro. #91 Porsche took a stone through the radiator, down two laps. Not good. The wife and I are one of those weird childless couples that spend way too much time caring for the needs of their pet. French bulldog, Mr Eugene Victor Debs. Great little guy. Spent the last four years training him to be obedient and friendly. Nice thing about dogs, when you're sick of dealing with them you can just lock 'em in another room for a few hours. You don't need to worry about paying for college.
