1968 Chevy Camaro Project With Many New Parts on 2040-cars

Year:1968 Mileage:109447

Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States

I have for sale a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro project for sale. This was originally a V8 car, gold in color with the deluxe interior and I do have the title. Being sold as is because I paid someone to do the body work and paint, and left it the way you see it in the pictures and skipped out with my money and new sheet metal. Does need metal work on the rear fenders, inner rear fenders trunk extensions, shock mounting areas, front window top channel, and some small areas throughout the body. Not near as bad as many being sold. Good project for someone who knows body work.

There are many new and used parts that come with the car. I will try to list as much as I can, but take a look at the pictures to see what is included. I did miss a few odds and ends that did not make it to the pictures.

This sale includes a good 4 bolt 350 engine that is torn down as I was getting it ready for freshening and paint. Engine number 3970010. Includes most everything to put back together except new rings and gaskets. Standard bore. Have high output ignition that was only on engine for a few hundred miles, alternator, newer starter, Holley carb, air filter and chrome housing, new chrome valve covers and more. Also included in the headers that were on the car and the exhaust that was cut off. Flow master mufflers. Also have a radiator and heater core.

Transmission is a good 2 speed powerglide that functioned great when pulled from car. The rear that is under the car now is a 10 bolt and I do have the drive shaft.

I have a brand new sub frame with tubular a arms and tubular control arms. Also have new heavy duty sway bar mounted to new subframe. Two new shocks come with the sale. The old subframe is still under the car, but has a kink.

The wheels are 17" torq thrust style wheels with tires and both only have about 300 miles on them.

The new parts include: New gauge pod / cluster housing. New center dash bezel. New tail light bezels and gaskets. New gas tank (one tank of gas ran through before tear down). New gas tank mounting straps, hardware, anti squeak straps, mounting brackets. New steering coupling kit, door hinge kit. New gaskets for car, doors, trunk etc. New washer fluid bottle and wiper grommets and brass strap. New front fender pair. New hood cowl. New battery tray. New complete center console. New front pillar pads. Over 25 bags of new hardware. New power steering hoses. New astro vent housing. New chrome valve covers. Other new odds and ends including hoses, bushings and ball joints.

The deluxe door panels are in great shape and have new carpets on the bottom. Dash pad is in decent shape, back seat in decent shape, but the fronts need recovered.

Used parts included: Trunk lid with spoiler and hinges. Front hinges. Both driver and passenger doors. Hood cowl. Front valance. Headlights and assemblies. Front grill and trim. All Windows. Chrome trim. Bumpers with mounting brackets. Original wiring and harnesses. Pedal assembly. Parking brake assembly. Heater assembly, housings, fan, controls. Shifter assembly. Wipers, wiper assembly and wiper motor. Steering box, Steering column and steering wheel, Factory sway bar. Gauges and dash trim and vents. Kick panels with adjustable vents. Original hardware bagged and labeled. There is much more that I have not listed or forgot.

Buyer is responsible for picking up. Because of all the loose parts shipping might be out of the question. This is being sold as is as as a project. A deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours after auction end and the rest to be cash at pick up when we sign over title. Please ask questions and I invite you to come take a look. Thank you and good luck bidding.

GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. Learn more about the partnership between Chevrolet and MBAs Across America in the press release below. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels."
