1995 Chevrolet Silverado K3500 4X4 6.5L Turbo Diesel

I listed this the past couple of weeks and I have since fixed the issue that was wrong with it. AS it turns out, it was the CPS or Crankshaft Position Sensor. I took it for a long drive today after changing it and ran like a top again and no SES lights. I was happy wasn’t the IP.

Now this truck is for sale with no reserve. I have put about 15 grand into it in the past two years yet it won’t pull my new 5th wheel and I have already moved on to a larger engine truck. It pulled my 30 foot just fine but the big rig I got a few months back is just too much for it and I am just not convinced that putting this turbo, this cooler, and such is the way to go so here we sit!

Some of the repairs that have been done in the past two years:

New long block and all externals 2 years ago to include turbo, IP, injectors, glow plugs, 130 GPM water pump, harmonic balancer and pulley, vacuum pump, Upgraded duramax dual t-stat, duramax Fan and clutch, hoses, flex plate, new fuel system, new lines, hoses, belt, motor mounts, new starter and alternator, new cooler hose and cooler for oil, and new PMD mounted in front of battery. Plus I am sure much more small pieces were added I just can’t remember.  Long Block is American and was $5500.00

Motor has 70,000 miles on it.

I installed a new 4” exhaust system with SS muffler about a year ago.

I installed a new radiator about 6 months ago.

I installed new U joints, had new front 4x4 shaft installed also.

I had a shop install new front end parts to include axles, hubs, ball joints, bushings, upper control arms, tie rod ends, suspension strut, stabilizers, and all bushings related about 8 months ago.

I had rear end gone through about 6 months ago by a shop and they replaced the yolk, bearings, and seals.

I installed new brakes, calipers, rotors, hoses, rear lines to front, drums, wheel cylinders, shoes, pads, spring kits, new emergency brake cables, and ect… about 6 months ago. Front rotors are drilled and slotted type.

I found a like new bed in Georgia in my travels so I had a body shop paint it to truck original color and install it about 6 months ago.

I installed new grill, head lights, parking lights, and led tail lights about a year ago.

I put new front fenders on about a year ago.

I replaced all the heating and cooling actuators, doors, and control unit about 1.5 years ago.

I installed new glow plug harness and battery cables I had custom made when I installed the engine. Really nice!

I had GM flush fluid in trans and change filter about a year ago. Had them check tranny and was OK.

I replaced the neutral safety switch about 7 months ago.

And I just replaced the CPS today!

I also added a K&N air intake about a year ago or so.

I put on new tires and Rims about 4 months ago. Nice mags to say the least.

I am sure there are other things I have done but just so much I can’t remember. Oil has been changed every 3 to 4 thousand miles since new with Rotella 15/40.

What I know is wrong with truck:

There is one stabilizer that needs changed, looks loose and I will change that this week when I get it home.

There is a small drip and it could be coming from an oil cooer line connector? I really don’t know but it is very minor. Could be a valve cover too? Not really sure.

Truck other than bed needs to be painted if desired. Doors are in good shape. Small amount of rust on rocker panels under doors.

There are a few minor dents on truck that I haven’t fixed yet. Was planning on having that done this winter while on lay off. Plans have changed!

Interior is in decent shape. Front driver’s seat shows wear. Carpet shows some wear but not bad for a truck with 320,000 on it.

Antilock brakes don’t work and never have since I have owned truck. Didn’t bother me at all.

Other than that, the truck comes as is with no warranties. The above is fact and I believe I have spelled it out to you as to the best of my knowledge. 4x4 works but I don’t use it. Have tried it twice and was fine.

Please ask any questions before bidding. I have a clear title and it is ready to go. I am taking it back home tomorrow to Jamestown, TN if you would like to see it please let me know. Comes with 5th wheel hitch and tool box too.

Thanks for looking!

GM recalling 686k Lambda-platform models for hatch repair

Fri, Jul 10 2015

General Motors is recalling 686,287 units of its Lambda platform crossovers. On models equipped with a power rear hatch the system can potentially fail. This campaign includes the 2008-2012 Buick Enclave, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook. According to GM's documents to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), dirt can get into a portion of the strut that holds up the hatch and cause the part to prematurely fail. There's a redundancy in place called the Prop Rod Recovery system that's designed to shut the liftgate if there's a malfunction. However, if the breakdown happens too quickly after the hatch is opened the prop rod might not work the way it's supposed to. If someone were in the way of the falling liftgate, they could be hurt. For the repair, dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit to prevent the hatch from closing so quickly. They'll also check the operation of the system afterward. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall. CONSEQUENCE: If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Buick Velite is a not-so-Volt-like plug-in hybrid concept for China

Mon, Nov 7 2016

Is the Buick Velite a Volt by any other name? That's a question worth asking after General Motors said that the Buick Velite concept vehicle will make its global debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month. GM says the car "will provide a template for upcoming models being launched under the Buick Blue new energy vehicle strategy." Whether that means the Velite is a variant of the second-generation of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in is open to interpretation. Some automotive publications, including Autoweek, are saying that's the case, but GM China doesn't mention the Volt in its press release, only saying that the car is a "high-performance" plug-in hybrid vehicle. As we know, GM doesn't use the "PHEV" descriptor for the Volt, which makes us thing the Velite's powertrain is more like the Cadillac CT6 PHEV. Either way, the concept was developed by the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), which is a joint venture between GM and Shanghai-based SAIC. As far as the name, GM has been shopping the Velite moniker around for a while now. The automaker first used Buick Velite for the convertible concept vehicle it showed off at the 2004 New York Auto Show. More recently, GM in 2014 filed to use the name for the US variant of its Opel Cascada four-seat convertible model, which debuted in 2013. As for the second-generation version of the Volt, that model appears to be gaining favor in the US. Domestic sales of the Volt through October have surged 64 percent from a year earlier to more than 18,500 units. The new version boosted its all-electric range by 40 percent to 53 miles while increasing its power output by 20 percent.
