1989 Chevrolet R3500 Crew Cab Pick-up Truck.  This truck is in excellent shape, with very low original miles.  The current mileage as of the listing is 51,946, but I do drive this truck ion occasion.  So the mileage may be slightly higher upon purchasing.  However, I do not drive it often.  The interior is in great shape with the original carpet, original seats, and original front floor mats.  The dash does not have any cracks and is not faded, as well as the rest of the plastic interior.  The auto trans works and shifts great.  It has a 4.10 rear end, and the tires are in great shape with less than 10,000 miles on them.  The paint is in good shape.  The gray on top areas has been repainted, but the white has not.  There are some very minor nicks in the paint on the rear fenders from road debris, but again they are minor and have touch up paint on them.  Anyone who has had a dually knows this occurs with all of them.  The paint in the bed is also scratched, but not bad at all for a 1989.  It does not have any rust anywhere that I can find.  The undercarriage looks great, the bumpers are great, the engine compartment is very clean.  The power windows all work (the front passenger seems a little slower than the rest but it works), the power locks all work, the cruise control works, and the air conditioner is very cold.  It has both wiring hook-ups for small trailers and large campers.  It runs and drives great, you could drive it anywhere.  The only reason I purchased the truck was to pull the camper, and we just recently sold the camper.  I have been contemplating keeping it, but it just doesn't make since to have a dually if you don't have anything big to pull.  The only thing that I can come up with that is wrong with it is the ash try will not stay closed on the lower portion of the dash.  I am sure it would be an easy fix with some parts from LMC Truck, but it never really bothered me.  It's where I stored my wallet, receipts, and change.  You will truly be very happy with this truck.  You can fly in and drive this one home.  I am posting a few pictures that I took yesterday but I forgot to take any of the undercarriage.  I will do so and post them later... if ebay will let me add pictures later.  Also, note that the truck is still financed with Florida Credit Union.  Their website is www.flcu.org if you are interested in looking them up.

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.

Chevy Bolt wins 2017 Green Car of the Year

Thu, Nov 17 2016

We knew that a plug-in vehicle was going to win the 2017 Green Car of the Year award this year, given that all five finalists have a way to charge up. And when Ron Cogan, the editor and publisher of Green Car Journal, announced the winner – the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV – he said that the car itself represents one of those times in the auto industry when everything is about to change. Similar to the invention of the starter motor, things are about to get different. For now, though, the fact that the Bolt EV won an award sounds like the same old thing all over again. Just this week, it was named Motor Trends Car of the Year and to the Car And Driver Top 10 list. The other four finalists for Green Car of the Year included the Toyota Prius Prime, the Chrysler Pacifica, the Kia Optima (including hybrid and plug-in hybrid models) and the BMW 330e iPerformance. Last year, the winner was the 2016 Chevy Volt. Did Green Car Journal make the right selection this year? See the award ceremony below.
