I am selling my 1971 K-20 custom deluxe.  This truck is an excellent driver and I have taken it on very long trips and aside from getting terrible gas mileage and not having AC, the truck drives without issue.

Here is what I have done to the truck recently:

New grille, bumper, and turn signal lenses
New steering linkage and steering gear
New front and rear shocks
New tires (cooper AT3s) at 95%+
Replaced driver's side rocker panel
New dash bezel, seat cover, dash pad, and "rubber" carpet
New windshield
New radiator
New rear wheel bearings and new brakes
New battery

Carburetor was rebuilt by me and the truck runs great.  The carb is not original, but I do have the original quadrajet.  Was going to rebuild it but never got the chance.  At some point this was upgraded to an HEI distributor.

The truck has a couple auxillary fuel tanks that were added by some previous owner.  I removed the filler neck from the passenger side and butt welded a patch in the hole.  There was also a big CB antenna where holes were drilled through the cab and I butt welded a patch here too.

This truck originally had both upper and lower molding, but you can see most of it is missing.  I believe this truck used to haul a camper, hence the missing trim and camper tie down hook provisions.  I do have almost all of the NEW replacement trim I kept aside, with intentions on painting the truck but never did.  This truck did not come with a radio.  There is no hole in the cowl for an antenna and the original radio delete plate is present to block the hole.

The negatives on this truck - it needs a choke, and the washer motor pump needs replaced.  It does have a dent in the top of the tailgate.  There are a few other small dings from over the years but none would be difficult to repair if you wanted to paint this.  The cigar lighter does not work.  it simply needs the wire which runs from the back of the lighter element to the fuse block.  Somebody had put in an aftermarket temp gauge into this truck and I broke the capillary line so that will need repaired or the temp gauge will not work.  Truck does not overheat, however.  I have an original gauge pod to put in the cluster.

The 4 wheel drive works great.  This has an open diff with (I believe) dana 44 front and the heavy Eaton rear.  At some stage, someone upgraded the front hubs to Warn.  The engine was rebuilt by the guy I bought it from some years ago. (I have a receipt somewhere) I have no idea on the mileage of this but I would assume it is whatever the odometer says plus 100,000.

If you would like photos of anything in particular, please message me.  I can also take videos of the truck running if needed.  As I stated, it runs and drives great, and I would drive it anywhere. (OK maybe not with gas at 4.00/gal!)

Truck was built in Fremont, CA and sold new at Joe Romania Chevrolet.  I have the paperwork for this truck.

I am perfectly willing to drive the truck to meet your shipper if that is to be your mode of transportation.  It has current tags and is insured.

Recharge Wrap-up: BMW cars to share i tech, Jordan to build solar EV charging network

Wed, Jan 14 2015

Jordan is looking to promote EVs and build a solar charging network. The country is waiving import tariffs on electric cars, and is spending $120 million on solar chargers. It plans to build 3,000 charging stations, along with 30 MW of solar power. Some chargers will be powered by solar canopies, while others will get electricity from nearby solar farms. Jordan's solar plan should also help to lessen the amount of energy it needs to import from nearby countries. Read more from Navigant Research, or at Green Car Reports. BMW's mainstream cars will benefit from technology borrowed from the i3 and i8, according to BMW sales head Ian Robertson. In an interview with Automotive News, Robertson said that next-generation cars will use carbon fiber more extensively, and that more cars will get plug-in technology. He said that about half of i3 buyers opt for the range extender and added that it is incorrect to refer to a range-extended electric vehicle as a plug-in hybrid. Read more at Automotive News. The ethanol market should remain healthy despite falling oil prices. While cheap oil could drive down ethanol prices, demand still remains due to the federal biofuels standard. Additionally, ethanol producers may find it cheaper to ship their products as domestic oil production drops and railroad shipping opens up. Ethanol byproducts like distillers grains continue to sell, and foreign demand continues as other countries impose their own renewable fuel standards. Read more at Yahoo News. 2019 GMC Sierra revealed with CarbonPro bed and new diesel engine

Thu, Mar 1 2018

It's only March, and it's already been one hell of a year for trucks. January's Detroit Auto Show saw the reveals of the 2019 Ram 1500, 2019 Ford Ranger and the 2019 Chevy Silverado. The Chicago Auto Show brought new versions of the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Today, we finally got our first look at the Silverado's twin, the 2019 GMC Sierra. The truck features new styling, a new diesel engine and — on the Sierra Denali — a carbon fiber bed. As with every new full-size truck, the Sierra is larger than the outgoing model in almost every dimension, though exact dimensions haven't been revealed. For reference, though, the Chevy Silverado's bed is 7-inches wider than before. The new Sierra grille is more upright than before and features new C-shaped lighting. The Denali gets LED headlights, tail lights and fog lights. Both SLT and Denali trims get unique 22-inch wheels. As we saw in spy photos, the Sierra's interior is mostly just a copy of the Silverado's with some chrome accents sprinkled throughout. If you like the current truck interiors, you'll be pleased with the new model. Those hoping for a wholesale change will be left wanting. The big improvements inside include a full-color heads-up display, trailer hitch assist apps and cameras, and the rear-camera mirror found in models like the Chevy Traverse and Cadillac CT6. Safety and convenience features include a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection and low-speed automatic braking. Like the Silverado, there's been a significant effort to cut weight in the new Sierra. The 2019 model loses as much as 360 pounds compared to the current truck. It uses aluminum for the doors, hood and tailgate. Steel is still used for the fenders, roof and standard cargo box. The Denali, however, gets the real surprise here. Available only on the top-tier trim, the bed box will be constructed of carbon fiber rather than steel, saving 62 pounds. Carbon fiber only replaces the steel inner panels and floor. GMC says the carbon fiber will also help scratch and corrosion resistance. SLT and Denali models also get a new MultiPro tailgate. This is unique to the Sierra and separate from the Silverado's power assist unit. A new feature that helps one get into and out of the bed using an assist handle. The tailgate step has a maximum weight capacity of 375 pounds. There multiple positions that allow customers to extend the bed, or drop the center vertically to gain easier access to the back.

Suzuki recalls 2 million cars globally

Wed, Apr 22 2015

Suzuki is recalling two million vehicles across the globe, including a number of Chevrolet Cruze sedans that it builds for General Motors, because the ignition switches may begin to smoke. None of the Cruzes being recalled were sold in the US, though. This recall is limited to the Japanese, European and Australian markets. In Suzuki's home market, 1,873,000 vehicles are being recalled, including the Cruze and a number kei cars built for Mazda (the Carol and AZ-Wagon), as well as the automaker's own Alto, Wagon R and Swift. Affected vehicles were built between 1998 and 2009. The remaining 133,000 vehicles include Cruzes and other Suzuki products sold in Europe and Australia. There have been no reports of injuries or accidents due to the 67 reported incidents, all of which come from the Japanese market, a Suzuki spokesperson told Automotive News. Related Video:
