1971 Chevrolet C20 Longhorn/custom Camper on 2040-cars
Chico, California, United States
I am selling my 1971 Chevrolet C20 Longhorn Custom Camper. This is a rare model, came from the factory with 3/4 ton suspension, front sway bar, front disk brakes, a 9' wood bed, air conditioning (removed by previous owner), and a luxury interior. I have spent the last five years restoring this truck and it is nearly complete. There is almost $20,000 invested. I recently had this truck dyno'd at 315hp and 311 ft/lb torque. This truck is fast, fun, and gets compliments every time I drive it. With a fuel injected 350 and overdrive transmission it drives great at freeway speeds.
Exterior: New mirrors, added air dam from 92 chevy, painted in 2010, new rear step bumper, replaced fuel doors for saddle tanks, replaced front grille, added tool box, refinished wood bed, added 17" Cragar wheels, Nitto Tires NT 420S 275/60R-17 (purchased in November), new rear window, new side marker lights. Interior: Replaced radio with reproduction (with aux input), installed new front speaker and 6x9 speakers behind seat, push button ignition, removed interior gas tank, reupholstered front bench three months ago, replaced dash pad, replaced rear view, replaced dome light, installed wood steering wheel, installed sound matting, reproduction 3 point seatbelts. Suspension: 2 1/2" drop spindles in front, and new 3/4 ton leaf springs with 5" drop in the rear, Bilstein shocks in the front, new ball joints, new upper and lower control arm bushings. Drivetrain: 350 SBC bored .03 over, 1992 roller block with 4 bolt main, forged pistons, high volume oil pump, Comp Cams performance roller camshaft, hydraulic lifters, corvette heads, ported and polished, high rise intake manifold, FAST ez-efi fuel injection, cold air intake, 100 amp alternator, MSD distributor and ignition box, new radiator, new water pump, electric cooling fan, full ceramic and wrapped headers, x-pipe, dual 3" flowmasters, 700R4 transmission rated to 500hp, 4.10 rear end, replaced stock fuel tanks with fuel cell (between frame rails in rear). Extras: Comes with original AM radio (working), Original rims in good condition, cover by California Car Cover, and snow chains. Whats left to restore : The speedometer is 33% fast, the speedo gears need to be changed. Which also means that the odometer is 33% fast. The paint looks good, but is not show quality. There are a few runs, still has the orange peel, and has a few chips. If you have any question please ask. |

GM drops diesel engines for 2020 Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain crossovers
Fri, Jul 12 2019GM is officially discontinuing the diesel engine in the Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain for the 2020 model year. The 1.6-liter turbodiesel was always an oddball of an engine in the compact crossover segment, and now the experiment has come to an end. The Car Connection initially reported the news, and a GMC spokesperson, Stuart Fowle, confirmed it to us this morning. “A huge majority of our Terrain customers have opted for one of our two gas engines," says Fowle. We canÂ’t say this eventuality comes as a massive surprise, as we saw news from couple of months ago that GM was dropping all-wheel drive from the diesel-powered cars for 2020. Low demand was cited as the reason for that cull, and itÂ’s the same for the little GM crossovers this time around, too. These vehicles were the only ones powered with a diesel engine in their class, but thatÂ’s going to be changing. Just as GM is going away from the diesel, Mazda is finally bringing its diesel to market in the CX-5. YouÂ’ll only be able to get that engine in the most expensive ($42,045) trim level, combined with all-wheel drive, though. The cheapest Equinox diesel starts at a comparably low $30,795. ThatÂ’s a $2,400 upcharge over the base 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder, and the value is questionable. Mileage is better, but diesel fuel is more expensive. Towing capability didnÂ’t increase over the base engineÂ’s 1,500-pound capacity, but the extra torque around town was nice. As diesels go in the U.S., this one was rather rough and noisy, possibly contributing to some turning their noses up after a test drive. Perhaps another reason for its demise was that the much quicker 2.0-liter turbo Equinox was only $100 more than the diesel. This engine offered significantly better towing at 3,500 pounds, too. You can read all about what we thought of the diesel in our first drive review here, but the 2019 model year is the last one if you had it on your shortlist. Chevy Bolt EV, Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Ridgeline take 2017 NACTOY prizes
Mon, Jan 9 2017Every year the 2017 North American International Auto Show kicks off with the North American Car of the Year Awards. We say "awards" after all those mentions of our home continent because it's not just cars. This year, in fact, the awards spread out to three separate honors: Car, Truck, and Utility. And without further ado, here are the winners. The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is the Car of the Year, the Honda Ridgeline is the Truck of the Year, and the Chrysler Pacifica is the Utility of the Year. Honda's win is perhaps the biggest surprise, upsetting favorite the Ford F Super Duty for the win. The second-generation Ridgeline rides on a unibody platform and is offered in front- or all-wheel-drive, which is unconventional for a pickup. But the layout also offers a cargo bed with an in-floor trunk and solid fuel economy figures of 19 city, 26 highway in its most-efficient form. The Chevy Bolt EV, however, was probably the easiest winner to predict. Its 238-mile range and sub-$30,000 starting price after tax credits make it a breakthrough in the landscape of electric vehicles. With the Chrysler Pacifica available in a plug-in hybrid form, this year's award illustrates the industry's shift towards efficiency and electrification. And with Ford's recent announcement on future EVs, it might not be long will it be until we see a hybrid truck on the award stage as well.Related Video:
Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes
Tue, 28 Aug 2012
Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.
