1970 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper Special, 2wd, with original 396 (400) bb motor and T400 automatic transmission. Largely original and unmolested with one repaint in original colors done in 1998.  Eastern Washington and Oregon truck from new, so rust through areas are minimal.  3/4 ton truck with power steering, power brakes (drums), overload springs, slideout rear bumper, original motor rebuilt about 10 years/30,000 miles ago, original T400 transmission.  Not an AC truck;  not a tach dash;10 bolt non-posi rear; two tone olive and white; aftermarket transmission cooler; original interior (missing carpet); three gas tanks (only one is hooked up); radio is missing; Edelbrock carburetor (do not have original quadrajet).  All chrome bodyside trim is there and useable, if not exactly in pristine condition.
The truck runs and drives fine:  no smoking, no transmission slipping, no rear end noises.  Steering is a bit loose.
The fenders and doors are in good condition with the only rust in the front lower fenders behind the front bumper.  The hood is ok with some visible old bondo in the leading edge.  The roof is in good condition with only surface rust and a small dent on the left rear. The metal bed and tailgate are in very good condition as this truck had a drop in camper on it from new.  The bed floor is very straight, the tailgate has only a couple of dents and no rust, and the right box side has one dent in the rear.
The cab could use outer rockers on both sides, but the floor pan and cab corners are in good condition.  The frame and undercarriage parts have surface rust/corrosion, but no rust through or weak areas.  There are normal small dents, dimples, scratches and chips on the truck exterior, and the paint is flaking here and there.  All glass is in good condition with no cracks.  The dashpad is not cracked.  Tires and brakes are in decent condition.
All in all, a great truck to restore or just a great work/camping/hunting rig as it sits.  Clear Washington title.  Mileage indicated has been over at least once.
Pickup and delivery is the responsibility of the purchaser, but I will assist in any reasonable manner.  If you have any questions, just ask.

Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?

Sat, Sep 23 2017

If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below. AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
