SELLER REMARKS

We sell a lot of '70s Chevy pickups and you might be tempted to glance past this one, but believe me, you'd better stop and have a closer look. LS1 power, gorgeous paint, and a full-lux interior with all the creature comforts make it far more than meets the eye.



The vivid red is a 2006 Cadillac color called Infrared, and it works as well on the vintage pickup as it does on the angular new Cadillacs. The glossy finish shows off some super straight sheetmetal, which is particularly important on these trucks, whose long, straight lines give them a timeless look that remains popular to this day. The regular cab/long bed version has great proportions and remains highly usable as a truck, too. The only real modification to the body itself is the cowl-induction hood, which, you'll note has some subtle ghost flames licking up towards the windshield, more evidence of the kind of careful workmanship that went into the build. You'll also note little stuff like the trick side mirrors that are color-matched to the body and HID headlights up front. Bright chrome bumpers are exactly the right touch against the gorgeous paint, but just in case you want to start hauling some stuff the bed's been protected with spray-in bedliner material.



The interior's dressed the same as the exterior, with burgundy upholstery on the original bench seat and red accent lighting to give it a unique vibe once you're on board. The dash has been filled with Dakota Digital instruments in the original pods, so you don't really notice until you key it up and the dash lights up, and the view's pretty good through the spokes of the billet steering wheel. Power windows and locks have been cleverly integrated, with the power lock switch stashed in the ash tray and the power window controls right under the radio. And speaking of the radio, it's a powerful AM/FM/CD/iPod head unit that drives JBL speakers stashed throughout the cabin, and it sounds amazing. A power sliding rear window is a very trick feature that's also practical, because a pickup with an opening rear window is a pleasant place to spend some time. Of course, it also has A/C, so no worries about staying cool when the temperatures skyrocket.



Ordinarily, these trucks have small block V8s with carburetors, but this one packs a 1998 Corvette LS1, which is a neat fit in the truck's engine bay. Thanks to the wonders of factory engineering, it starts instantly and idles like it should, and out on the road you have Corvette levels of horsepower at your disposal. A custom cold-air intake feeds the stock LS1 intake, and a big BeCool aluminum radiator has no problems keeping it cool. A 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive feeds the original rear end, so this truck is a superlative highway cruiser and actually pulls down decent fuel mileage too. 4-inch lowering springs and spindles give it a great stance without killing ride quality or hauling ability and there's a brand new Magnaflow exhaust system under there, too. 4-wheel disc brakes with EBC brake pads enhance the original brakes to cope with the upgraded power levels, and 275/50/17 performance radials on polished Torque Thrusts give it just the right performance look.



This is a very impressive truck with great road manners and all the creature comforts. It's one of those time when it really would be impossible to duplicate at the price. Call now!

TERMS OF SALE

 

1. Per the eBay User Agreement, by placing a bid you are entering into a legally binding contract and are committed to purchasing the vehicle described above. The details of this commitment are further outlined in the eBay User Agreement.

2. Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. Streetside Classic Cars reserves the right to end its auctions early or to cancel bids solely at its discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

3. The winning bidder is required to contact Streetside Classic Cars within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction.

4. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close.  This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. Acceptable payment types for deposit are: credit card, wire transfer, cashier's check, and money order.

5. If winning bidder does not contact Streetside Classic Cars and submit deposit within 48 hours of auction close, vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer on a first come, first serve basis.

6. Streetside Classic Cars has represented this vehicle to the best of its ability. Prospective bidders are encouraged to contact us directly to provide additional information or answer any questions.

7. Please be aware that all pre-owned vehicles, regardless of age, mileage, or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. Streetside Classic Cars encourages bidder to have a personal inspection completed prior to delivery to help ensure your satisfaction. Third party inspections are to take place prior to a vehicles shipment or delivery.

8. All vehicles are sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied.

9. Final or winning bid price does not include shipping, tax, title, or registration fees. It is the purchaser's responsibility to provide for any state or local taxes and shipping expenses resulting from the sale.

10. We can assist you in delivery through our network of private and commercial carriers. Most of them can deliver the vehicle to your driveway. We assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once a vehicle is in a shipper's custody.

11. Streetside Classic Cars bears no liability and shall be held harmless for any complications, expenses, or damages resulting from a failure to meet these terms as they have been set forth and established herein.

12. An additional documentation fee of $199 will be added to the purchase price at the time of sale.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

Pony-car sales war: Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger [UPDATE]

The Ford Mustang has blown past the Chevy Camaro as America's best-selling pony car, and in June, it wasn't even close. The 'Stang outsold the Camaro 11,719 to 8,611 cars. The Camaro remained ahead of the Dodge Challenger, which sold 6,845 units. Even though the Camaro did post an 11.5-percent sales improvement in June, the competition is arguably stronger than at anytime since the 1970s muscle-car era. The Mustang's sales leapt a whopping 53.6 percent, while the Challenger saw a gain of 56 percent. Several factors are weighing down Camaro sales, including its lame duck status. Chevy is launching a new generation of the Camaro this year that's more than 200 pounds lighter, offers a new turbo four-cylinder engine option, and has a nicer interior than the outgoing model. Put simply: wait a few months and you can get a better car. It's also unlikely Chevy will jack up the price much, as it's historically kept the Camaro within reach of everyday enthusiasts. While Chevy fans wait in anticipation for their new sports car, Ford and Dodge have downshifted. The new Mustang, which went on sale last year, is faster and more sophisticated than its predecessor. It also offers a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which Ford has credited for the Mustang's recent uptick and makes up 36 percent of the car's sales, Ford analyst Erich Merkle said. Through the first five months, Ford sold 68,290 Mustangs, a 54.4-percent increased compared with 2014. Chevy sold 42,593 Camaros, an 8.7-percent decrease. The Challenger – long the No. 3 pony car in sales volume – has seen its sales surge 41 percent this year to 37,011 units. Spokesman Monte Doran said Chevy expected that 2015 would be a "relatively soft year" for the Camaro. "Mustang is taking advantage of years' worth of pent-up demand for an independent rear suspension," he said. "When Camaro introduced an IRS, in 2009, it helped make us the best-selling performance car in America.

GM to trim Russian output, raise prices amid currency woes

General Motors is shutting down its factory in Russia's second largest city, St. Petersburg, from the middle of March until the middle of May as the country's currency, the ruble, continues to give economists fits. The ruble's value has plunged due not only to western sanctions, but a precipitous fall in oil prices. We knew these factors were already impacting the auto industry there, as Ford reported in its 2014 earnings statement, and now they're forcing GM to cut production at the factory, shown above, that is responsible for production of the Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra. Meanwhile, Automotive News is citing Russian outlet Kommersant as saying that GM has hiked its prices in the country by an average of 20 percent over the past two months. While a GM spokesman confirmed the St. Petersburg plant would be shut down for the two-month span reported by Kommersant and AN, he would not confirm the price increase.
