SELLER REMARKS |
|
This 1967 Chevrolet pickup is a great example of small things making a big difference. Perfect stance, cool satin paint, a cowl hood, and a subtle de-badging are the only notable changes, but the things just looks sinister, doesn't it? Of course it has the power to back up the look plus an attractive interior that continues the theme.
Satin paint is red hot right now and we were very pleasantly surprised to see how well the satin purple finish on this truck works. Combined with the cowl-induction hood, it makes everyone do a double-take the moment they see it, and then they seem drawn in to see what else on the truck was upgraded. As it turns out, the original shape looks pretty darned good, even fifty years later, and the trick paint really highlights the details like the molding that runs around the fender lips and the crease down the center of the hood. Suede paint is extremely hard to get right, despite what you'd think, and the surface has an even gloss and good coverage so there's none of the blotchiness that you see on lesser paint jobs. The steel underneath does its part to make everything look good, and it all fits together quite nicely. A few chrome pieces add contrast, including a custom front bumper with built-in driving lights, crystal clear headlights, and, of course, a pair of LED taillights. The bed has a traditional wood floor that is just the right combination of restored and patina to be useful without looking used.
The gray bench seat has a purposeful look with vertical pleats just like the original upholstery. Matching door panels were probably custom made just for this truck to get the colors to match and the floors were covered in gray carpet to help give it a more luxurious feel. The satin purple paint covers the dash, which features a gray instrument panel and glove box lid that look fantastic without being too flashy. Factory gauges are joined by a vintage tachometer in the center, as well as a three-spoke steering wheel that was the right choice. Entertainment comes from an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo that fits neatly in the center of the dash and feeds speaker stashed throughout the passenger compartment.
A 350 HO crate motor is a neat fit under the hood, and with 330 horsepower on tap performance is entertaining in the relatively lightweight pickup. It wears the usual chrome dress-up parts, but the focus was on performance, so it also includes a Holley carburetor up top, FlowTech long-tube headers, and ARP fasteners. It's not really designed for show, but things like power steering and brakes mean that it was built for the street, which is where it really shines. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission certainly helps in that regard, feeding the original rear end which hangs on trialing arms with custom lowering springs. The exhaust system snakes around the frame and terminates in shiny tips just ahead of the rear wheels for a racy look and sound, and low-key Rally wheels with fat BFG radials are exactly the right choice on this warmed-over pickup.
A very cool truck with great attention to detail will always find a new home quickly. And at this price, this one surely won't last long, so give us a call today!

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) found a significant difference in NOx emissions in Euro 6 diesel cars in NEDC and WLTC testing. While 88 percent of the cars tested met emissions standards for NEDC, NOx emissions averaged five times higher under WLTC, with only 27 percent of vehicles under the limit. WLTC is considered to be a more realistic driving cycle, using hot starts and factoring a higher top speed as well as harder and more frequent accelerations than the NEDC. Employees will be able to use a carsharing app to reserve a car, which will then drive itself to the set destination. The project will allow GM to collect important data and experience to help the company more quickly develop autonomous driving technology. The lithium-ion batteries used to power the EV were recycled from other Renault EVs. With the electric Trafic, Carwatt – a company that converts vehicles to use electric power – aims to demonstrate the "circular economy" of batteries, which can provide more value through a longer lifecycle. Read more in the press release below. Carwatt presents a unique automotive application for second-life batteries from electric vehicles. On the sidelines of the COP21 summit, in the Solutions Gallery running from 2 to 9 December 2015 in Le Bourget near Paris, Carwatt and its partners —Renault, Paris City Council, BPI France, the Ales Ecole des Mines Engineering School, and the Bobigny Business Campus — are showing a very special electric Renault Trafic. This prototype vehicle, the only one of kind in the world, is powered by second-life lithium-ion batteries recycled from Renault electric cars. Circular economy at work with electric vehicles When, over time, the batteries of a Renault electric vehicle fall the performance threshold specified for their initial automotive power duty (around 75% of initial capacity), they can still provide valuable service in "second-life" applications before end-of-life disposal at a recycling centre. Experiments are already under way on power storage applications, for example.
