Chevy K10 Truck 4x4 4wd 1979 Chevrolet Pickup on 2040-cars
Glenns Ferry, Idaho, United States
Condition: Exceptional condition for a vehicle which I would consider as being "unrestored". The paint is original, and the truck is almost entirely stock.
Features: Dealer installed A/C and cruise control. All wheel drive. Rare 400ci small block. Freshly rebuilt Turbo 350 Transmission with shift correction. History: For sale is this 1979 Chevy K10 Silverado with a professionally rebuilt turbo 350 transmission. The chassis has 152k and the 400c.i. small block was rebuilt by the first owner. Originally purchased in Glenns Ferry from Shrum Motors in 1979, this truck still shows its shine from its freshly detailed single-stage lacquer paintjob. My father bought this truck from the original owner in Mountain Home, and my father drove it for roughly a decade here in rural Southern Idaho. At some point the transmission gave out so there it sat for about three years before I got ahold of it. I originally swapped out the transmission for a second-hand purchase, and from there I drove the truck for about a year. In that time I installed a new carburetor kit, I adjusted the hydraulic lifters, checked the timing, and installed new spark plugs with the correct gap. Since the carburetor kit, this truck has always started immediately so long as it's driven daily. The automatic choke operates perfectly, giving this truck immediate cold starts, high idle warm-up, and a comfortably low warm idle. Within the last hundred miles I have pulled the second-hand transmission and installed a professionally rebuilt transmission with shift correction from Tim Cabral, an ASE Certified Transmission Builder. The shift is firm, and the shift points are adjusted perfectly for the throttle and vacuum environment. Check out this video: http://youtu.be/Yt9HnXI6Cb4 Items which currently do not work: -The horns have been disconnected because they stay on -The A/C probably needs recharged, I have never installed a belt -The climate control leaves the fan speed on low, but the truck heats up nicely I am selling the truck because I have an SUV and a highway car. As much as I love this truck, I need to cut back on personal projects. I am keen someone can take this project to the next level. I have brought the paint back to good condition, and overall the truck details nicely. All of the chrome is in exceptional condition, and although the paint has some dings and scratches, it polishes like nothing I have ever owned. The softness of the lacquer paint makes scratches, stains and imperfections a matter of swirl remover. |

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega
Sat, 19 Oct 2013Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.
Even if GM does close all 5 of those plants, it'll still have too many
Wed, Nov 28 2018DETROIT — General Motors' monumental announcement on Monday that it will close three car assembly plants and two powertrain plants in North America and slash its workforce will only partially close the gap between capacity and demand for the automaker's sedans, according to a Reuters analysis of industry production and capacity data. Sales of traditional passenger cars in North America have been declining for the past six years and are still withering. After GM ends production next year at factories in Michigan, Ohio and Ontario, it will still have four U.S. passenger-car plants — all operating at less than 50 percent of rated capacity, according to figures supplied by LMC Automotive. In comparison, Detroit-based rivals Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will have one car plant each in North America after 2019. The Detroit Three are facing rapidly dwindling demand for traditional passenger cars from U.S. consumers, many of whom have shifted to crossovers and trucks. Passenger cars accounted for 48 percent of retail light-vehicle sales in the United States in 2014, according to market researchers at J.D. Power and Associates. This year, sedans will account for less than a third of light vehicle sales. That shift in turn has left most North American car plants operating far below their rated capacities, while many SUV and truck plants are running on overtime. The collapse in passenger-car demand is a challenge for nearly all automakers in the United States, including Japan's Toyota and Honda, which have the top-selling models in the compact and midsize car segments. Toyota executives said last month they are evaluating the company's U.S. model lineup. But Toyota also plans to build compact Corolla sedans at a new $1.6 billion factory it is building in Alabama with partner Mazda. The obstacles facing GM in its plans to close more auto factories became apparent on Tuesday as U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to block payment of government electric vehicle subsidies to GM. While it is not certain that Trump unilaterally has the power to do that, he made it clear he intends to use his office to pressure the company to keep open a small car plant in Ohio that GM says will stop building vehicles in March.
