67 68 69 70 71 72 Chevy Gmc Truck 1\2 Ton Long Bed Hot Rod Very Original Restore on 2040-cars
Grantsville, Utah, United States
We are a small, family owned business, and have been in the same location for over 15 years. We are a bonded dealership, and are licensed to buy, sell and trade any kind of motor vehicle. Fair deals and honesty have brought us many return customers. We are now expanding our market into the world wide web. Personally, I have been involved with the auto industry since the early 70's. If it has wheels or floats, I like it. Muscle cars, Jeeps, Harleys, sport bikes, boats of many makes, motorhomes, atv's, etc. We have bought and sold them all!
Here is a 1972 Chevrolet 4X4 that I bought awhile ago to restore, but health issues (and old age) are forcing me to let some of my projects go. This truck was purchased from the original owners daughter, who had it sitting behind the barn since her dad passed away in 1982. It appears to be all original and unmolested, except for the drivers door. The story is the door got left open and caught on some farm equipment that bent it. A used one was installed, but the original is still in the back. There is some surface rust on the hood, and the rockers need replaced, but all in all, it's still a very straight and solid truck. I towed it home, dumped some fresh gas in, and it started right up. Amazing! Smells like rotten gas burning but actually runs better than it should. I drove it around the block, (very slowly), as the old bias tires are so flat on one side it about hopped off the road. They are weather checked and cracked. I cant believe they still hold air. Here I am writing a novel. Sorry. Its a 1\2 ton, six lug, 350 cu.in. four speed trans, with high range low range transfer case, and manual locking hubs. It does run and drive, but in its present condition, not very far or fast. It will definitely pull itself up on a transport. I believe it is all original, with 53k miles. It needs totally restored, and has been sitting for over 30 years. Sold as-is,where-is, but will assist your shipper, or perhaps bring it to your doorstep for an agreed on fee. These trucks are worth a small fortune when done. This one would be a great father son\daughter project. Please call John or Connie at 435 884 1040 with any ?? or email of course. I can take pictures of any part you would like to look at. In person inspection is welcome and encouraged. We can supply copies of any documents you may need. Shipping is the buyers responsibility, but we will assist if we can. Sometimes we do delivery in the western states right to your door for an agreed on fee. 0 feedback bidders please call before bidding. Very low reserve. Thanks for looking! Bid to win! |

Recharge Wrap-up: EV torque secrets, UC Davis maps future of biofuels
Fri, Jul 25 2014A UC Davis white paper maps out "Three Routes Forward for Biofuels," balancing investment risk with carbon benefits. The first option is "incremental," in which we tinker with the existing biofuel manufacturing infrastructure for small improvements over time. The "transitional" plan suggests integrating cellulosic production and other innovations with existing operations. The third route, called "leapfrogging," would mean building refineries based on new technology such as cellulosic and algae-based biofuels. The paper suggests ways the US could use these three routes together in different areas, and predicts the payoffs in terms of carbon emissions could be significant if the right people are willing to risk the capital. After all, financial advisers are always telling investors to diversify their portfolios to manage risk and rewards in the same way. Read more over at the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies. The Formula E Long Beach ePrix will offer free admission. The seventh round of the inaugural all-electric race season, which was moved from Los Angeles to the streets of Long Beach, will offer fans free grandstand and general admission. The race, which takes place on April 5, 2015, will use a 1.6-mile portion of IndyCar's Grand Prix of Long Beach. Read more at LA Times. Polaris is now offering its 2015 GEM electric vehicles, including the new street-legal eM1400 LSV. The passenger and utility vehicles come in two- to six-passenger configurations, many of which are street legal on roads with posted speed limits of up to 35 miles per hour. The eM1400 LSV utility vehicle seats two, offers 1,250 pounds of payload, 1,250 pounds of towing capacity, a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 45 miles. Its on-board charger plugs into any standard 110-volt outlet. Read more at Hybrid Cars and check out all the different configurations yourself at the Polaris website. In EVs, more torque does not always equal faster. Green Car Reports found this out when driving the Fiat 500e (with 147 pound-feet) against the similarly weighted Chevrolet Spark EV (with 400 pound-feet). The secret is, at least in part, in the gearing. The Fiat has a 9.6:1 reduction gear, making it quicker at lower speeds despite having far less available torque, while the Chevy uses a 3:1 ratio. The trade-off though, is in top speed. Furthermore, Chevy electronically limits the torque delivery at low speeds, as 400 pound-feet is a lot of launch for the little Spark EV to handle.
GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories
Wed, 06 Feb 2013As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.
GM uses wind power to build SUVs, trucks
Tue, Oct 9 2018This week started with a chill, as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a dire report with scientists warning, "The world we know today is not the world we will see in 50 years," with temperatures rising at their current rates. In the meantime, the trend toward purchasing more SUVs and crossovers continues. Most automakers, though, have set goals toward more sustainable production. That includes General Motors, which, somewhat ironically, plans to use wind power to produce many of its vehicles, including pickups and full-size SUVs. As the Detroit Free Press reports, several wind farms are coming online to support cleaner production as part of a partnership between GM and energy producer CMS Enterprises. At the beginning of October, the 100-megawatt Northwest Ohio Wind Farm began producing energy, supplying GM operations in Ohio and Indiana, where manufactured vehicles include the Chevy Cruze, Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. Hilltopper Wind Farm in Illinois will begin producing another 100 megawatts for GM manufacturing in the region. In Texas, where GM builds the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade, the automaker is getting 50 megawatts from Cactus Flats Wind Farm beginning October 9. Using wind power isn't just about being green, but also for the sake of price stability. As Rob Threlkeld, GM's global manager of renewable energy told the Free Press, "You don't get the price spikes this way, like you do with fuel, and it reduces the environment footprint of the vehicle you're driving." Threlkeld said that renewable energy has already meant "millions of dollars in savings" for GM. GM plans to power all of its global operations with renewable energy by 2050. This week, the automaker was ranked 76 on the EPA's "National Top 100 List" of green manufacturers. It was the only automotive company listed.
