Beautiful Fresh Frame off Restoration. Rust Free West Coast GM Body and Chassis. Epoxy Coated Frame and finished in Chassis black. Body stripped entirely and 2 coats of HOK epoxy laid down. Then each piece was Base Clear coated with House of Kolor Black Cherry Pearl and reassembled and aligned. Truck received all New Rubber Seals. Door Mechanisms where cleaned, inspected, replaced where needed and refinished and lubricated and installed. Heating and AC system was disassembled, cleaned, each piece inspected, replaced where needed, and reassembled with new seals. Firewall received new mass heat and noise insulation. Interior Wire harness and Fuse block was inspected, cleaned, rewrapped and reinstalled. Some portions where replaced where needed. Switches where inspected and replaced where needed. New wiper, Heater, Headlamp, Ignition and Dual tank Switch. Now days its hard to live without delay wipers and so we added wiper delay. Gauge cluster was cleaned and redone in white to give a more modern cleaner look. Cluster surround was done in gun barrel silver as well as the steering column and transfer case shifter. Speakers behind seat where also finished this way. A modern Chevrolet Steering wheel was fitted to the interior and looks beautiful. Sound and heat shield was added to the whole cab floor. Mass backed Carpet was then fitted to interior running all the way to the back of the cab. Seat was reupholstered with the proper design. Door panels, pockets and arm rests where cleaned and reinstalled. New Door handles where added. Dash pad was replaced with a new NOS. A new headliner was also added. Door sill plates where cleaned and polished. Ignition tumbler was replaced as well as glove box lock. Windshield was replaced along with a new gasket.

The engine compartment received the same attention to detail the rest of the truck received. The firewall and Inner fenders where refinished in HOK Black Cherry Pearl Base clear. The Inner fender wells, Core Support where refinished in gun barrel silver. And all the bits and pieces where cleaned and refinished or replaced in stainless steel versions. The Steering Gear, Steering shaft, Vacumn brake booster and brackets all where cleaned, inspected, repaired and refinished. The decision was made to upgrade the low technology 180 hp sb chevy with a more modern replacement. We decided it needed to have more torque and hp while increasing fuel economy while still using pump gasoline. It also needed to be able to be driven like it was your everyday car. We started with a SB chevy so it appears stock. Increased Bore and stroke to 383 cubic inches. The engine has been professionally machined, balanced, assembled and includes the following components. GM block that has been thermo cleaned, magnafluxed, clearanced for stroke, torque plate honed, align honed, and has new cam bearings and frost plugs, new cast 3.750" stroker crank, reconditioned GM 5.7"  rods, Speed Pro coated 8.6:1 compression hypereutectic dished pistons, new rings, rod and main bearings, oil pump, and timing chain. The camshaft is a mild performance hydraulic grind made to produce low end torque. This camshaft makes excellent low end and mid range power and has a slightly loped idle that sounds great. The basic power range is 1500-5500RPM. The heads are  GM  76cc castings that have been completely freshened with new valve job, Z-28 valve springs, valve seals, and seven degree locks. The engine comes complete with a dual plane aluminum manifold, chrome pan, timing cover, and valve covers. We ended up with a engine producing 325 plus horses, 400 Ft pounds of torque. And as long as you use gently, produces 20% plus in improved fuel economy The engine is topped of with the famous 650 cfm holley and a Spectre filtration system to keep things clean.

The brake system has been totally inspected, and cleaned, lubricated and refinished. All New brakes front and rear as well as the master cylinder where installed. Front suspension got a Four inch height adjustment by adding 4" leaf springs and bushings. A pitman arm was added to bring steering geometry back to stock so vehicle drive like new from factory. The exhaust is handled via steel headers and hooked to a turbo exhaust system exiting out the back and sounds mean when you want it or just wonderful while cruising. To put all the power to the ground we added Factory GM rally wheels from a corvette and added 33x12.50x15 inch Wild Country Radials.

On the Back end we went backwards and decided on lighting fixtures from the early 70's as they are rare and look so nice with the individual backup lights below the tail/brake light assembly. A new triple chromed rear bumper was added with all new brackets so its straight and aligned. A new license plate lamp was installed. To keep the all original Chevrolet tail gate up we added stainless steel chains and hooks covered with new clear vinyl to protect the finish. The bed itself is a piece of artwork. We Stripped all of the metal parts and refinished in HOK Black Cherry. The Fir was stripped, stained and polyurethane in satin for protection from the elements. All was assembled using polished Stainless components.

The Front of the truck Received a NOS replacement Grill, All stainless strips for grill where polished and a new NOS emblem added. All Plastic mounting tabs where replaced and new stainless attaching screws where added. The LF Headlight bezel was replaced with a new NOS one and we couldn't find a right side NOS so it was replaced using after market piece but it looks beautiful and no one can walk up and say there's any pitting on your chrome parts. Factory marker and blinker assemblies where cleaned repainted and installed. Headlamps where upgraded to modern Lighting while retaining original look.

We have on order a new retro am/fm stereo which will come with the truck.

What more can be said. We build about 4 cars a year and have been building locally for 20 years. You wont be disappointed

GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales

Mon, 04 Nov 2013

Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.

Recharge Wrap-up: NEDC's NOx problems, autonomous Chevy Volts

Mon, Dec 7 2015

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) found a significant difference in NOx emissions in Euro 6 diesel cars in NEDC and WLTC testing. While 88 percent of the cars tested met emissions standards for NEDC, NOx emissions averaged five times higher under WLTC, with only 27 percent of vehicles under the limit. WLTC is considered to be a more realistic driving cycle, using hot starts and factoring a higher top speed as well as harder and more frequent accelerations than the NEDC. Employees will be able to use a carsharing app to reserve a car, which will then drive itself to the set destination. The project will allow GM to collect important data and experience to help the company more quickly develop autonomous driving technology. The lithium-ion batteries used to power the EV were recycled from other Renault EVs. With the electric Trafic, Carwatt – a company that converts vehicles to use electric power – aims to demonstrate the "circular economy" of batteries, which can provide more value through a longer lifecycle. Read more in the press release below. Carwatt presents a unique automotive application for second-life batteries from electric vehicles. On the sidelines of the COP21 summit, in the Solutions Gallery running from 2 to 9 December 2015 in Le Bourget near Paris, Carwatt and its partners —Renault, Paris City Council, BPI France, the Ales Ecole des Mines Engineering School, and the Bobigny Business Campus — are showing a very special electric Renault Trafic. This prototype vehicle, the only one of kind in the world, is powered by second-life lithium-ion batteries recycled from Renault electric cars. Circular economy at work with electric vehicles When, over time, the batteries of a Renault electric vehicle fall the performance threshold specified for their initial automotive power duty (around 75% of initial capacity), they can still provide valuable service in "second-life" applications before end-of-life disposal at a recycling centre. Experiments are already under way on power storage applications, for example.

A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes

Wed, Feb 19 2014

There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
