Nice 1974 Chevy Short Bed Pickup Truck . Trades Concidered . !!!! on 2040-cars

I TRADED FOR THIS AND HERE IS WHAT I KNOW . few years back this truck was tore down to the frame and all rust repaired . a new cowl hood , fenders , grill , headlight doors , bumpers , etc. they also changed the cab doors and bed . inside the cab it has a new headliner , carpet , dash pad . the seat has also been recovered . new door panels that need to be installed . they put a power window kit in it that runs off a belt and it still has the stem for the crank ? well anyway they are not working . that was something I was going to look at when I put the door panels on . it is a really good looking truck . I get a lot of compliments from all my buddys that come by .it has a spot on the rh side of the bed behind the cab that needs to be fixed . i tried to show it in the last picture . I was going to fix it and put some graphics on it . last guy that had it had 20 inch wheels on it with really stiff springs on the front so it rides like crap .I PUT 17" TORK THRUST II'S ON IT . I bought some 2" drop spring for it and that should take care of the ride problem and make it look cooler . I have new door panels that need to be put on . POWER STEERING SKIPS A LITTLE IT MY NEED A BELT OR MAY NEED A PUMP ? it has a 60 over 350 with a mild cam but still had a nice thump . headers , edelbrock carb , large aluminum radiator with electric fans and trans cooler .etc . MISSING COMPRESSOR , LINES , BRACKETS CONDENSER . THE AIR IS NOT HOOKED UP !!!!!this engine runs strong and has a great sound . WAS TOLD IT WAS A THIS IS A GROOMS ENGINE . MILES UNKNOWN .if you have an interesting trade holler at me . PLEASE DONT CALL ME WANTING A TRILLION DOLLARS FOR YOURS AND EXPECT ME TO GIVE YOU A BUNCH OF BOOT . WILL TRADE UP OR DOWN . Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. GM admits goal of 500,000 EVs by 2017 won't be met
Sat, May 9 2015After a little over four years of Chevy Volt sales, General Motors has a better handle on how many people it expects will buy cars with plugs. And it's less than the company thought back in 2012, when then-senior vice president of global product development, Mary Barra, said that GM expected to sell 500,000 "vehicles with electrification" by 2017. In a sustainability report released this week, GM says that half-million vehicle target will not be met but that it still, "believes the future is electric." In the report, GM says that, "For our commitment to electrification, our forecasted outlook currently projects us, along with the broader automotive industry, falling short of expectations for 2017. ... We continue to aspire to our stated goal." GM's electric lineup includes the Volt, the recently popular Spark EV, the slow-selling Cadillac ELR and upcoming Malibu Hybrid, CT6 plug-in hybrid and eAssist technology in the Buick LaCrosse and Regal. GM says it has 180,834 electrified vehicles on the road in the US today. In 2013, it had 153,034; 95,578 in 2012, and 39,843 in 2011. The company's next big plug-in vehicle will be the second-gen Chevy Volt, which is coming to market later this year, followed by the 200-mile Bolt EV coming, we think, in 2017. Recharge Wrap-up: Chevy Volt's new, improved powertrain; Inabikari wants to build Tesla Model X fighter
Thu, Nov 6 2014We knew the 2016 Chevrolet Volt's new powertrain would provide more range, but we didn't know how much. According to GM's Executive Director Larry Nitz, it is about 12 percent more, overall. "I can't think of a powertrain we've re-engineered more extensively within a five-year period than this one," he said. The battery, electric drive system and gasoline generator have all been reworked to allow for an overall driving range of up to 425 miles, with electric range speculated to reach 42 miles or more. The new Volt will also benefit from 20 percent quicker low-end acceleration, weight reductions and improvements in NVH. Read more at Hybrid Cars and at the SAE website. Hyundai's FCEV research and development boss, Dr. Sae-Hoon Kim, is optimistic about the future of hydrogen mobility in Japan. With the Tucson Fuel Cell already in production ahead of Toyota's FCV, Hyundai has a foothold in the hydrogen car scene. Kim believes that since the Fukushima disaster, Japan's attitudes toward energy make it friendly to a growing hydrogen economy. He also says that hydrogen won't be limited to Hyundai, with Kia getting all the battery EVs. "Both types are for both companies," Kim says. "For the moment, volumes are small and it is not wise to have Hyundai and Kia competing." Read more at Just Auto. The Latvian/German startup Inabikari is using crowdfunding to build an electric crossover for Europe. The Rev.01 EV hopes to compete with Tesla's upcoming Model X with a range of over 400 miles and a five-second 0-60 time. The group currently is trying to raise initial funds through an Indiegogo campaign, with hopes of more investment in the future and sales beginning in 2017. The World Light Duty Test Procedure, set to replace the New European Driving Cycle in 2017, will push automakers to find new ways to reduce drag on their vehicles. For better aerodynamics, we could see traditional side-view mirrors replaced by cameras that display what they see on screens inside the vehicle. Another likely change will be the introduction of smaller, narrower wheels. Improving the average drag coefficient from 0.32 to 0.20 could reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 20 percent.
