Chevrolet Other Master Deluxe on 2040-cars
Fort Valley, Georgia, United States
The car received an off the frame restoration in 2003. Various improvements have been made since, but not all at once. I have driven the car 19,678 miles since the restoration. The transmission is a regular 700R4, not a racing transmission. This is a show car, not a drag car. Pulling the floor shift lever from locked-up overdrive to 3rd gear and stomping the gas pedal to the floor will scare the daylights out of you, your passengers, and whoever is in the car that you are passing. This car weighs less than 2800 pounds and has over 500 horsepower. It is wicked fast. The transmission has 17,242 miles since it was rebuilt, all with a blower. The engine has 7,689 miles since rebuild. It was professionally built by Savannah Racing in Savannah, GA using forged pistons and rods. Compression ratio is 8.5:1. The blower provides 6 pounds of boost. Overall compression is 12.2:1. Use 97 octane gasoline. A Comp cam and roller rockers were installed. The tires have less than 1,000 miles wear. Tires were bought in 2013. The blower has 12,856 miles. Power assist drum brakes front and rear. Vega box manual steering. Frenched-in rear licence plate holder with 3rd brake light. Two extra brake lights under car for added visibility. This car has working wipers, but I've never used them. I put Rain-X on the windows and the car has only been wet 3 times since 2003. I use Windex and cloth baby diapers to clean the paint. The car was dismantled and painted in 2003. 3 coats of PPG Viper Red and 7 coats or PPG clear. The car was wet sanded down to 3000 grit before polishing. It has always been stored indoors with a cover. It has been driven to several hundred cars shows and cruise-ins. It has the usual rock chips, scratches, blisters, and cracks in the paint. People don't notice them at 6 feet, but you can see them all when close enough to wax the car. The floor pans are solid. No dents. There is NO hood. This car has never had a heater. There is plenty of head room despite the 4 inch chopped top. Your friends will hear the blower whine 2 city blocks away. Be prepared to be mobbed when you arrive at the cruise-in. Gas mileage is 12 city and 15 highway at 55 mph. 2100 rpm at 70 mph. Inside exhaust noise is a nice powerful rumble. The engine does not overpower the radio for a night time cruise. This car is not perfect, but it still has plenty of appeal. Georgia is a Bill of Sale state

2015 Chevy Tahoe gets Police Patrol Vehicle treatment
Thu, 07 Nov 2013That was fast. Mere days after showing a Police Concept based on the 2015 Tahoe at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet has announced that it will build a PPV model based on the SUV to do battle with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) and Dodge Durango Special Service.
You'll recall that the Tahoe has been police staple for several years, predating both the Explorer and Durango police variants, so the fact that the new model would spawn a police variant is hardly surprising. Like the civilian model, the 2015 PPV benefits from a more efficient 5.3-liter, direct-injection V8 that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It also features more high-strength steel, offering better crash protection, on top of optional safety items like lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a Safety Alert Seat.
The press release is rather light on police-specific items, aside from the auxiliary battery, which keeps the myriad of electronics in a modern police car running even when the engine isn't. Lightbars, 17-inch steel wheels on Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires and a push bar round out the mods for the Tahoe PPV. The cabin features a revised center console and room for laptop and other equipment mounts.
Cadillac Celestiq, Lyriq, Hummer, other future GM electric cars: Here's everything we saw at ‘EV Day’
Wed, Mar 4 2020WARREN, Mich. — Today, General Motors held an “EV Day” event at its Warren, Michigan, campus to present its new “Ultium” battery technology, modular electric vehicle architecture and soon-to-come electric vehicles. Unfortunately, we were forbidden from bringing cameras into the event, so while we canÂ’t show you what we saw, we can tell you more about it. While we saw the previously teased Cadillac EV (which we now know to be called the Lyriq) and the GMC Hummer pickup teased during the Super Bowl, there were a number of other future cars at the event, which GM President Mark Reuss assured us are all real vehicles in the works. The biggest surprise came at the end of the event, though, in the Cadillac Celestiq electric sedan, which Reuss described as a future flagship that would be hand-built “very locally.” It had been hiding under a dark sheet all morning, with the front and rear illuminated Cadillac emblems shining from underneath. When the wraps came off, we saw a long, white, four-seat fastback sedan. The 23-inch wheels were pushed out to the very corners of the car, giving it what appeared to be a very long wheelbase. The model on the stage had no side mirrors or visible door handles. The grille mirrored that of the Lyriq crossover next to it, with integrated lighting in lieu of the usual mesh or slats youÂ’d see in an internal combustion car. The entire roof, all the way until it tapered to the tail of the vehicle, was tinted glass. In back, vertical tail lighting ran down the C-pillar before turning rearward across the top of the trunk. Inside, everything below the beltline of the windows — essentially all but the headrests and top portion of the steering wheel, was hidden from view. Behind the Celestiq, a large digital display showed a rendering of its interior. The dash consists of a pillar-to-pillar curved LED display serving as both instrument panel and infotainment system. Protruding forward between the front seats was another touchscreen that appeared to house some more controls, with open area, probably for storage, below it. The rear seats had the same sort of touchscreen between them. Built into the back of the front seats were a pair of rear-seat entertainment screens, much like we saw in the Lyriq. The door panels blended wood, metal and animated lighting to give character and a sense of opulence. GM interior design manager Tristan Murphy was on hand to tell us a bit more about the Celestiq.
Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]
Sun, 03 Feb 2013The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.
