1987 Chevrolet C10 Swb Truck ***custom*** on 2040-cars
Topeka, Kansas, United States
For sale I have my 1987 c10 swb (short wide bed) This truck is my pride and joy but I now have a chance to restore my dream car which is a car my dad has had since he's been 21. We decided to go all out with this truck. It originally came from Texas and had the tbi 305, 700r4 and a 10 bolt. I bought the truck with just over 5000 miles on it although the title says actual its not according to the check I did after. I didn't care anyway because the truck was being built from the ground up including all new drivetrain. The title is a clear Kansas title with no liens. It now shows 6958 miles after being built with the new 383 stroker which only has just about 1000 miles. The brand new turbo 400 with a B&M shift kit and jegs xd 3800 stall has the same amount of miles as well as the brand new 12 bolt rear end with 373 richmond gears and a Detroit tru trac posi unit. The entire drive train has been gone through as well as suspension and paint. Mcgnaughtys 2.5 inch drop spindles with ground force 2 inch lowering springs lower the truck a total of 4.5 inches up front, and the bell tech drop shackle kit lowers the truck 4 inches in the rear. Traction wise the truck is equipped with cal tracs from calvert racing. Paint wise the truck is also phenomenal. The truck is black metallic and has house of Kolor flake neatly layed into the finish. You don't notice the flake unless in direct sunlight and it is beautiful. The entire truck has been shaved from front too rear. Front roll pan, shaved doors, rear roll pan, shaved tailgate and a complete custom built all steel cowl hood with built in guages. All paint and fabrication professionally done by a man with 35+ years experience. This truck draws crowds at shows and on social media. It is truly beautiful. Interior wise there are two like new leather power bucket seats. New carpet. Custom door panels, a pioneer head unit and Sony speakers, as well as a beautiful clearcoated black interior roof. The doors on the truck open with a wireless key fob from lmc. I have ALL documentation and it comes with this vehicle. This truck is completely custom and is a sight to behold. There are no other c10s out there that look like this truck. Engine- zz4 383 stroker, 4 bolt main, all forged internals, billet main journal caps, eagle rotating assembly, Comp cams thumpr series camshaft, speedway 2.02 aluminum heads with high pressure springs, edelbrock aluminum intake, Siebert Performance built Holley 4 barrel carburetor with 4 way adjustment metering blocks and tuned by Siebert Performance. Accel Distributor. Chevrolet Chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner. Champion 4 core brushed aluminum radiator with 16 inch electric fan. Engine Built for 475 horsepower and built to last. Everything in this engine is performance. Exhaust- Flowtech ceramic coated headers go all the way out three inch exhaust through flowmaster 40 series mufflers. This truck absolutely turns heads and puts most big blocks too shame. It sounds beautiful. Transmission- Built turbo 400, B&M shift kit, 3800 jegs Xd Stall converter, hurst pro matic floor shifter. Also New u joints, new driveshaft. All done by Topeka Transmission Rear end- Built 12 Bolt rear end with 373 Richmond gears and a Detroit tru trac posi unit. Also has Cal tracs from calvert racing and an LPW differential cover. Tires- Rear tires are 325 50 15 Nitto 555R extreme drag radials. Front tires are a power touring radial with excellent tread. Interior- Two custom bucket seats with gforce racing harnesses. Clearcoated black interior roof. Hurst pro matic floor shifter. Custom door panels. Exterior- Front and rear roll pan, front headlight and taillight smoked black covers. Shaved doors that open with wireless key fob, shaved tailgate, custom 4 inch all steel cowl hood with built in gauges. Snap on black vinyl toneau cover. 20 Percent tint all the way around the truck. Wheels- Cragar SST's Paint- The paint is totally custom. It is a special candy black with a house of Kolor flake. This truck is straight as an arrow and like I said above, turns major heads. The truck at night looks completely black but you can shine a light on it and it comes to life. Same with the day time, it will look black unless the sun casts down upon it and its like a rainbow in the dark. It is so subtle its unbelievable. If I have forgotten anything I will be sure to add it to the ad, but to really sum it up, this truck is my baby. Like I said my father has passed down his car I would love to start building and cant have both. This truck has hundreds of hours put into it, alot of money, and blood sweat and tears. It gets notoriety wherever it goes whether it is at a car show, driving down the street, sitting in the driveway or on social media. It will be featured on LMC's Website in July. This truck will make anyone happy and that's a promise. Give it a good home. I can send as many other pics as you want. I could only post 24. There are two videos below as well. Link below is of the truck running at idle. http://instagram.com/p/o4nARrkk_y/ Link below is short video of paint work http://instagram.com/p/pANd_MEk_q/?modal=true

Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and EV Buyer's Guide: Which one do you want?
Fri, Nov 10 2017If you're shopping for a new vehicle these days, there's a litany of acronyms, buzzwords, and technobabble to further complicate an already difficult decision. But if you're looking at a green powertrain, you have three basic choices to compare: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and "EV" or, electric vehicle. So what are they and which one — if any — is right for you? Research your next new vehicle using Autoblog's Car Finder. Gasoline-Electric Hybrids By now, most people are familiar with the concept of a hybrid car. Thank Toyota's Prius for that. At its most basic, a hybrid vehicle has two powertrains, one gasoline and one electric, which work together for maximum efficiency. At low speeds, the engine can shut off entirely, relying solely on the battery for propulsion. The battery is either charged as you drive by converting kinetic energy into potential energy via a complex regenerative braking system, or directly off of the gas motor. This is a very hands-off, behind-the-scenes system as all the driver has to is put in gas and drive as normal. Hybrids come in all shapes and sizes and, according to the EPA, range in fuel economy from 58 mpg for the Hyundai Ioniq Blue all the way down to 13 mpg for the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta. Best For: Anyone who want to see their fuel consumption go down without many sacrifices. You can easily find a hybrid sedan, hatchback, crossover, SUV or even a pickup truck (i f you can find one). Best of all, a hybrid requires no special equipment to be installed at home, or added work for the driver. Hybrids do cost more than traditionally-powered competitors, so make sure to compare projected fuel savings with how much extra a hybrid will cost – it may take a surprisingly long time to break even. The EPA provides a handy calculator for this very purpose. Our Favorite Hybrids: 2017 Toyota Prius 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Plug-In Hybrids Sometimes referred to as a PHEV, or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, this is a baby-step towards full electrification. Armed with a much larger battery pack than a hybrid, PHEVs can go between 12 ( Mercedes-Benz GLE550e) and 97 ( BMW i3 w/Range Extender) miles on electricity alone depending on the model and your driving style. Like a normal hybrid, the driver is largely unaware of which power source is currently in use, even as they switch over — either because the battery is drained, or the driving circumstances require more power.
8 cars we're most looking forward to driving in 2015
Mon, Jan 5 2015Now that 2014 is officially in the books, it's time to look ahead. And following our list of the cars we liked best last year, we're now setting our sights at the hot new metal that's coming our way in 2015. Some of these, we've already seen. And some are still set to debut during the 2015 auto show season. But these are the machines that keep us going – the things on the horizon that we're particularly stoked to drive, and drive hard. Jeep Renegade Not the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Not the Ford Mustang GT350. Not the new John Cooper Works Mini. Nope, I'm looking forward to the adorable, trail-rated Jeep Renegade. And that's because I really, really, really like our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I do not, however, care too much for the Cherokee's looks, and I really don't like its $38,059 price tag. The Renegade Trailhawk, meanwhile, promises much of the same rough-and-tumble character as its big brother, but at what we expect will be a more reasonable price (I'm personally wagering on the baby Jeep's off-road model starting at no more than $23,000). With a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, it should also be a bit easier to fill than the V6-powered Cherokee. Also, I can't help but love the way the Renegade looks. It's like someone took a Wrangler, squished it by 50 percent and then handed it off to George Clinton for a healthy dose of funk. The interior, with its bright, expressive trims and color schemes should also be a really nice place to spend some time. I'll be attending the Renegade's launch later this month, so I'll have a much shorter wait than my colleagues. Here's hoping the baby Jeep lives up to my expectations. – Brandon Turkus Associate Editor Mazda MX-5 Miata Here's an uncomfortable truth: I'd rather spend a day driving a properly sorted Mazda MX-5 Miata of any generation on a winding road than I would nearly any other vehicle, regardless of power, price or prestige. It's not just that I prize top-down driving and enjoy the Miata's small size because it gives me more road to play with. I just find there's more motoring joy to be had with high-fidelity handling and an uncorrupted car-to-driver communication loop than I do with face-distorting power or grip – let alone valet-stand gravitas. But perhaps most of all, I love Miatas because they can deliver that level of feedback and driver reward at modest speeds that won't put the locals on edge or endanger lives – you can use more of the car more of the time.
GM puts 3 million miles on hydrogen fuel cell test fleet
Mon, May 12 2014Have General Motors' hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles emitted enough water vapor over the past six-plus years to equal the steam coming out of Old Faithful? Not exactly, but GM has released a few figures related to the Project Driveway initiative it began in 2007. The numbers are impressive, if not quite of the geyser-spouting variety. In all, the General converted 119 Chevrolet Equinox SUVs to run on hydrogen, and those vehicles have just collectively surpassed the 3 million mile mark. And if you were waiting for us to tell you that the distance equals a half-dozen round trips between the earth and the moon, well, there you go. The better news is that the SUVs have combined to save almost 158,000 gallons worth of gas, and some of the vehicles have more than 120,000 miles on them. More than 5,000 drivers have participated in the project. GM reached that landmark about 10 months after it announced that it was working with Honda to accelerate the development of hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain technology. The two companies estimated last summer that it may have something to sell to the public as soon as 2020. For now, you can check out General Motors' press release below. GM Fuel Cell Fleet Tops 3 Million Miles Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell vehicles driven in real world reach milestone DETROIT – General Motors' fleet of fuel cell vehicles recently passed 3 million miles of hydrogen-powered, real-world driving. Some individual vehicles have accumulated more than 120,000 miles. By GM's estimate, using hydrogen to power these vehicles, the fleet has avoided 157,894 gallons of gasoline consumption. This specially equipped fleet of Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles are part of GM's 119-vehicle Project Driveway program, which launched in 2007. Since then, more than 5,000 drivers have provided feedback on the functionality and drivability of fuel cell technology. "Hydrogen fuel cell technology is an important part of GM's advanced propulsion portfolio and we continue to make substantial progress in furthering this technology," said Charlie Freese, executive director of GM's global fuel cell engineering activities. "These vehicles have operated through seven full winters and a wide range of environmental conditions, proving that fuel cells can meet the demands of real-world drivers." Last year, GM announced two fuel cell-related collaborations.
