1985 Chevy K-10 Swb 4wd Stepside on 2040-cars

Year:1985 Mileage:120393
Location:

Oroville, California, United States

Oroville, California, United States

Up for sale is a 1985 Chevy Silverado Brown with Burgundy interior shortbed stepside 4wd.

This truck has spent its whole life in the dry Sacramento Valley near Red Bluff, California

There is absoulutely no rust on this body anywhere. There are some minor dents that could be taken out by a dent doctor.

This truck has the original factory paint on it. It has never been re-painted. As you can see from the pictures, the paint is burnt through on the hood and several other areas. There is no rust on this truck. It is a factory brown truck, the wood on the bed floor needs to be replaced, and the tailgate has a few repair welds where the factory spot welds failed. The grille plastic is in good shape and not broken up like most. Both doors open and close like they should I had the strikers replaced. The plastic bushings on the strikers break off, and they don't close properly if not replaced. The truck has a rear sliding window and needs a new plastic latch.

The dash is badly cracked from the California sun and the door panels are faded on the top. The gauges work and there is an aftermarket mechanical temperature gauge installed. There are some toggle switch holes in the lower part of the dash. The factory Delco radio does not work. The bench seat has no tears in it, but has some small pin holes and is faded from the California sun. The electric door locks do not work. The power windows work, but the passenger side is slow. The Burgundy carpet is new. The headliner has been removed.

The truck has factory GM Rally wheels with center caps and trim rings. The tires are 33 12.50 15 and are about 1 year old with at least 80% tread remaining.

The truck has a newer upgraded 5.7 liter 350 that runs great. The ac does not work. The power steering works good.  It has a 4 speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch. The clutch master cylinder was replaced about a year ago. The clutch works great and the transmission shifts and works great. The 4wd works fine. The choke light stays on, but a new carburetor was installed abour a year ago and starts up and runs great.

This is a great 4 wheel drive shortbed stepside.

.This is a hard to find California no rust truck. I was going to re-paint this truck, but I have another project that needs to be finished. Please email or call/text (email is best as I'n in a bad phone service area) (530)370-9200 if you have any questions. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I will cooperate with your shipper to make it as easy as possible for them. $1,000 deposit due within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due within 7 days.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

Junkyard Gem: 2005 Chevrolet Aveo LS Sedan

Sun, Jun 14 2020

The story of Daewoo in North America took some interesting plot turns over the decades. First we had the 1988-1993 Pontiac LeMans, a rebadged Daewoo LeMans. A bit later, Daewoo began selling cars under its own nameplate here, with the Lanos, Nubira, and Leganza available for the 1999-2002 model years. Then Daewoo fled the continent and left warranty service of those cars in the hands of Manny, Moe, and Jack. With GM taking over Daewoo Motors after Daewoo's bankruptcy, we got some Daewoos with Suzuki badges here— the Verona and the Reno— while Chevrolet began selling the South Korean-built Daewoo Kalos as the Aveo for the 2004 model year. This car may not be a gem in the sense that you would want to own one, but it's a gem of automotive history and thus deserves its place in this series (especially because it's one of the rare 5-speed cars sold here). Many (maybe even most) of these cars ended up in the hands of rental-car companies and other fleet users, but we can tell from the three-pedal setup that this car went to a non-fleet buyer. We've had a couple of these cars compete in the 24 Hours of Lemons, where I work as a dignified and respected race official, and they've been amazingly quick on a road course in the hands of good drivers. Power came from this 103-horsepower Opel-designed four displacing 1.6 liters. The Nubira and Lanos got versions of this engine on these shores, too. The LS was the top trim level for the Aveo in 2004, so this car got air conditioning and a halfway decent audio system (by 2004 standards). The seat fabric is industrial-grade stuff, which would have held up well under the steady drip and/or torrents of bodily fluids coating the interiors of rental cars. The 2004 Aveo LS started at $12,045, which comes to about $16,675 in 2020 dollars, so it was a lot of commuter-appliance for the price. The following generation of this car became the Chevrolet Sonic, beginning with the 2012 model year. You can still buy a new Sonic, and the inflation-adjusted price is nearly identical to that of the original AveoÂ… though you might want to move fast if you really want one, because Daewoo stopped selling the Kalos in South Korea not long ago. If you want the rarest member of the Aveo family available in North America, find yourself a hen's-teeth Pontiac G3, the short-lived Pontiac-badged version. Speaking of the G3, here's the way it broke the hearts of gas pumps around the world.

General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem

Thu, Feb 13 2014

General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed.
