1985 Chevrolet Silverado Swb 4x4 All Original Amazing Condition-no Reserve on 2040-cars
Tuscumbia, Alabama, United States
I have decided to sell my Silverado 4x4. As you can see in the pictures, this truck is in great condition. The truck has a 4 inch Rough Country lift and is riding on American Eagle rims. Tires are 31 inch and sound good while not sacrificing the overall ride. This truck has spent it's entire life in North Alabama. It has the original paint job and absolutely zero rust on the body. The paint is a little faded on the roof and rails, but still looks almost perfect on the sides. As you can see the interior looks very good and is also original. It has a small crack on the driver's side door panel and no suprise it does have a cracked dash. I did not want to replace it since it is all original, but it can be replaced easily. The truck has a 8 cylinder engine which is very strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. It does have a small leak from the rear main seal like every other GM in this era. It is not a big leak at all. The truck also has true dual exhaust and sounds great. The 4 wheel drive engages as it should and pulls great. All gauges work in the truck also. It has cold AC and hot heat. I did replace the heater core recently. I also replaced the stock carb with a new electronic choke Holley so it cranks easily. The truck runs perfect. It has power windows and locks and also Dual tanks. All work as they should. As you can see in the picture the truck never had a Drawtite hitch added to it. It has not been abused as you can see the bed is also in good condition. The truck even has the original bed rails. This truck can be driven anywhere. Feel free to fly into either Huntsville, Al or Birmingham, Al and drive your new truck home. Before someone asks why i am selling the truck, I just have too many cars that get driven very little. I originally thought I would drive it for Deer hunting, but it is just too nice to do that. I drive the truck to the airport every once in a while or to my in laws farm. Someone will win a awesome truck that would need very little to be perfect. This was the top o the line Silverado in its day. I never drive it without getting compliments on its looks. This is a not a new truck but I promise you, you will not be embarrassed to drive down the road in this great looking SWB Chevy. Good Luck Bidding! I reserve the right to end this auction early as the truck is for sale locally.

GM offering factory-backed extended warranty for Chevys, GMCs, Buicks and Cadillacs
Mon, Oct 15 2018Cars are generally more reliable than ever before. When things do go wrong, every automaker offers some form of factory warranty (in most cases at least three years and 36,000 miles, though many extend even longer), providing peace of mind to new-car buyers that many faults will be fixed at no charge to the customer. Starting today, GM is offering a new optional plan that will extend the factory warranty on all new Chevy, GMC, Buick and Cadillac products. In the past, extended warranties have been offered as dealer add-ons, with all profits from these sales going to the dealership. GM's new program can be viewed as another nail in the the looming dealership-model coffin. According to Automotive News, some dealers aren't happy to see GM cut into their business like this, saying that it helps GM far more than it does dealers. GM says the new program will help keep customers in the GM family. Customers are also more likely to visit a GM service center rather than going to an independent repair shop. Currently, new Chevy and GMC vehicles come with three-year/36,000-mile warranties. Buicks and Cadillacs are covered for 4 years or 50,000 miles. The new program extends Chevy and GMC warranties to five years or 60,000 miles. Buick and Cadillac warranties extend to six years or 70,000 miles. GM, citing IHS Markit, says most owners keep new cars for about 6.8 years, so these warranties will cover most of the length of their ownership. The extended warranty will add between $1,000 and $2,000 to the price of a vehicle, and the additional cost can be rolled into the vehicle's purchase or lease price. Unlike many dealer extensions, the factory program covers the vehicle no matter who owns it. That should help increase the car's resale value if it's sold within the covered timeframe. GM says there's no deductible and no need to file a claim form when getting warranty repairs. Additionally, dealerships can continue to sell their own extended warranties or service contracts. NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
BMW, Hyundai score big in JD Power's first Tech Experience Index
Mon, Oct 10 2016While automakers are quick to brag about winning a JD Power Initial Quality Study award, the reality, as we've pointed out before, is that these ratings are somewhat misleading, since IQS doesn't necessarily distinguish genuine quality issues. JD Power's new Tech Experience Index aims to solve that problem. The new metric takes the same 90-day approach as IQS but focuses exclusively on technology – collision protection, comfort and convenience, driving assistance, entertainment and connectivity, navigation, and smartphone mirroring. It splits the industry up into just seven segments, based loosely on size, which is why the Chevrolet Camaro is in the same division (mid-size) as Kia Sorento and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is in the same segment as the Hyundai Genesis (mid-size premium). It makes for some screwy bedfellows, to be sure. Still, splitting tech experience away from initial quality should allow customers to make more informed and intelligent decisions when buying new vehicles. In the inaugural study, respondents listed BMW and Hyundai as the big winners, with two segment awards – the 2 Series for small premium and the 4 Series for compact premium, and the Genesis for mid-size premium and Tucson for small segment. The Chevrolet Camaro (midsize), Kia Forte (compact), and Nissan Maxima (large) scored individual wins. Ford also had a surprising hit with the Lincoln MKC, which ranked third in the compact premium segment behind the 4 Series and Lexus IS. This is a coup for the Blue Oval, whose woeful MyFord Touch systems made the brand a victim of the IQS' flaws in the early 2010s. But Ford and other automakers might not want to celebrate just yet. According to JD Power, there's still a lot of room for improvement – navigation systems were the lowest-rated piece of tech in the study. Instead, customers repeatedly saluted collision-avoidance and safety systems, giving the category the best marks of the study and listing blind-spot monitoring and backup cameras as two must-have features – 96 percent of respondents said they wanted those two systems in their next vehicle. But this isn't really a surprise. Implementation of safety systems from brand to brand is similar, and they don't require any input from users, unlike navigation and infotainment systems which are frustratingly deep.
