1972 Chevy C-10 Shortbed Fleetside 350/350 Auto on 2040-cars
Grand Prairie, Texas, United States
I have listed a 1972 C-10 Shortbed that I purchased for my son but who now has enlisted in the military and is moving away. The truck was a California vehicle until brought here to Texas. The truck is very straight with zero rust on it, the color is Lamborghini Orange with hand painted stripes and flames. The interior is black in color and everything is new but the seat belts and they were in good condition the gauges are Dolphins and are shown in the pics. The truck has 2 1/2 drop spindles 1 in drop springs with lowering shocks, the rear has 4 in drop springs with lowering shocks and is NOT c-notched. the truck has new wheels and tires with 1200 miles on them which pictures were taken to show them, the brakes are rear drum and front Disc with a vacuum booster to assure quick breaking. The engine is a stock 350 with a turbo 350 trans. The truck has a vintage air system and blows very cold air even here in the hot Texas heat. The bed has been done in oak and stained dark and cleared to match the wood steering wheel in the truck. The windows are electric and work very smoothly. The paint on the vehicle is a 7 out of a 10 and still shines very nice, I have driven the vehicle as I was not looking for a trailer queen. I have two videos I can send you of the vehicle running and driving down the road. This is a fun C-10 and they are harder to come by in the short bed fleetside and I would keep, but I own a 67 C-10 and have now way of driving the two. Thanks for looking and ask questions I will answer as soon as I can. |

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
