1971 Chevy Short Wide Bed, Shop Truck, Rat Rod,lowrider, great Daily Driver Solid on 2040-cars
Owensboro, Kentucky, United States
1971 Chevy short wide bed, and is a factory 115" short wheel base not a shortened long bed. great daily driver, runs drives great. truck shows 84,000 miles not sure if it is over or not but has been rebuilt mechanically 350 stock with Edelbrock carb and 3-speed synchronized trans. power steering disc brakes. this truck is very solid no rust in roof like a lot of them or corners of doors ,corners of fenders all solid. it did have cab corners and rocker panels put in at body shop. has newer tires, exhaust, battery, alternator, starter, radiator brakes. it was lowered with cdp springs and rear track bar rides better than it did originally. has new windshield seat redone and new rubber mat. you can get in truck and drive anywhere. would look great with shop truck advertising on it. drive as is or paint your color choice, but this way you don't have to worry about it and draws as much attention as a painted one everywhere. original step bumper can be put on if you would rather have it over the roll pan on back you can have your choice. I am selling for a friend ask any questions you may have and thanks for looking.
On Apr-29-14 at 14:28:00 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had several people ask about how it runs and drives so here it is again this truck is a daily driver that you can drive anywhere and also very tight without all the rattles in most. it is not a rough truck sprayed in primmer, it was worked at body shop and could have been painted any color this was just the way he wanted it flat black, it was done a few years ago and set outside and faded. you could take and paint the way it is other than the tailgate, pushed in a little over the letters but could be straightened or changed. it is very straight. This is not a 4000 dollar rust bucket and will not sell for that. a truck this good painted will bring 16 to 20k and with shop truck lettering and distressed paint will bring 12 to 14k and if it doesn't sell that is what is going to happen. and again thanks for looking |

GM patent reveals new two-stage turbocharger
Fri, Jun 24 2016Modern turbochargers may be some of the best ever made, but performance is something that engineers are always trying to improve. According to GM Inside News, General Motors (GM) is hoping to alleviate some of the negative aspects of a two-stage turbocharger setup with a newly-patented design. The patent, that was filed on May 19, 2016, reveals a clever bypass system that allows the engine, a four-cylinder unit, to optimize both the low-pressure and high-pressure inlets for its respective functions. According to the filing, a conventional two-stage turbocharger setup is engineered to allow both turbines to operate simultaneously at low and mid engine speeds. At high engine speeds, only the low-pressure turbine works. The setup can't isolate either the low or high pressure side, which can impair low-end performance. GM's new two-stage turbocharger setup looks to eliminate this by linking the high-pressure turbo to the exhaust manifold through the high-pressure inlet duct. The low-pressure turbo is attached to the high-pressure turbo by a low-pressure inlet duct, which is linked to a connecting channel. A single actuator that is housed in the exhaust manifold creates a bypass that can opens the high-pressure inlet or close the connecting channel. Depending on what the engine load and speed is, the ECU guides the actuator—a single rotating spindle with discs corresponding to flanges on the high and low pressure sides—to isolate one of the two turbos. Isolating the turbos allow the respective inlets to be engineered for the best possible fluid dynamic performance. The setup should increase performance and decrease lag. There's no word on what car this setup will make an appearance on, but it will most likely be used in premium vehicles before trickling down to the rest of GM's vehicles. GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
GM Recalling 370,000 Trucks For Fire Risk
Mon, Jan 13 2014DETROIT (AP) - General Motors is recalling 370,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups from the 2014 model year to fix software that could cause the exhaust components to overheat and start a fire. The recall includes 303,000 trucks in the U.S. and 67,000 in Canada and Mexico. All of the trucks involved have 4.3-liter or 5.3-liter engines. GM said eight fires have been reported, but no injuries. One garage was damaged, the company said. All of the incidents occurred in cold weather. The company is asking customers not to leave their trucks idling unattended. GM dealers will reprogram the software for free. The company will inform owners starting Jan. 16. The major recall announcement, which came on Saturday, marred the Silverado's winning of the 2014 North American Truck of the Year Award at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday.
