1971 Chevy Custom C10 Pick Up. 350 Wa/c 2nd Owner Patina, Shop Truck Or Rat Rod. on 2040-cars
Bristow, Indiana, United States
I purchased it from the original owner and I have known this truck all of my life. I have the original owners books and paperwork from when it was purchased new. Truck is original paint and patina. Nothing hidden with bondo. Truck has its factory 350 V8, 4bbl.(factory Quadrajet), power steering, disc brakes, automatic transmission and A/C. The A/C compressor will need work to have cold air. Truck has factory mild tinted glass too and the glass is perfect. Truck has 101,000 original miles but Indiana exempted the milage on the title due to age. New front tires and new rear (old school) Power King mud grips. Truck runs STRONG, shifts and drives out nicely. Lots of power. No smoke or issues with the drivetrain. I have been using it as a daily driver. Quardajet carb is cold natured like they always are. One bump of the pedal and it fires right up but takes a little while to warm up. Truck had been sitting since 1988 when I bought it. I have replaced the belts, hoses, starter, radiator, rear brake shoes, front calipers and brakes, front brake hoses, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, battery, every bulb on and in the truck and much more. EVERYTHING works! All lights inside and out and gauges (speedo, odometer, ammeter, oil pressure and temp) work. Fuel gauge has a new sending unit in tank but it reads 1/2 when full for some reason. When on empty it still has 1/2 tank. Not sure what is up with it. May be a ground issue. Heat will run you out in seconds!!! Wipers work. This is a very cool truck and a reliable truck to drive daily. Truck has rust like they all do. Nothing extreme or out of the ordinary. New rocker panels had been welded in at some point and look pretty good. FRAME, TRAILING ARMS AND 95% OF THE FLOORS ARE SOLID. Inside of the bed is rusted pretty bad, cab supports are rusted out and the area above them on the floor is effected as well, drivers cab corner is bad too but that is about it. Will run 60-70mph on the interstate all day long. I enjoy driving it just the way it is. Heck, they don't make 'em like this anymore. Funny how people respond to this truck everywhere I drive it. Battle scars and all, they still love it. Serious calls only please. I am an honest person and would love to insure you are happy with this truck. (812)631-9244 I have included 24 pics. If you are local you are welcome and encouraged to come and inspect the truck in person. Truck is obviously sold "As Is" and "Where Is" but I will work with you and your shipper if you need me to load it up. No problem. |

GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories
Wed, 06 Feb 2013As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.
2015 Chevy Volt gets larger battery, though range remains the same
Sat, Jul 19 2014The Chevrolet Volt isn't changing much for the 2015 model year. According to specifications uncovered by Inside EVs, though, the new Volt's battery does have a slightly larger capacity. According to the spec sheet, this doesn't translate to increased range. Real world driving, though, might tell a different story. The 2015 Volt's battery storage is slightly higher than the outgoing model's, up from 16.5 kilowatt-hours to 17.1 kWh. According to GM's manager of electrification technology communications, Kevin Kelly, speaking to Green Car Reports, the increased capacity is "a late change done in the cell... just another continuous improvement to surprise and delight our customers." The stated electric range, however, stays at 38 miles. Inside EVs followed up on its original report, and found that drivers could see some advantage to the battery tweak. When they spoke to Kelly, he told them, "As a result of this change, we would expect that some customers may see a slight improvement in overall EV range." It's worth noting that when battery capacity increased from 16 kWh to 16.5 kWh for the 2013 Volt, electric range increased by three miles to the current 38, while MPGe went from 94 to 98. The price of the 2015 Chevrolet Volt remains steady, at $34,995. The actual cost to the customer is considerably less with the $7,500 federal tax credit, as well as any local incentives.
Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado
Sat, Oct 9 2021During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!
