1971 Chevy Cheyenne Pickup 61,000 Miles. Barn Kept In Arkansas on 2040-cars
You are bidding on a super-cool 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne pickup. I am the second owner of this truck that was bought new from Lacy Harris Chevrolet in Ashdown, Arkansas (I still live 20 miles from Ashdown!). I have owned this truck for about 13 years. I bought this truck with 40,000 on it and actually used it as a hunting truck. It ran SO strong with its 350 Quadrajet set-up, I pulled a camper with it. I never did much with it, and then one day two years ago I wanted to restore this beautiful old truck. It had some wear and I did not want to spend millions of dollars on a frame-off restoration, so I began to do it pretty much myself. Other than having a local college Collision Repair class repaint it inside and out (a pretty cool job...not perfect...but really nice!) I have done the rest. Since the motor and transmission needed nothing, I have performed to the following on this PERFECTLY running truck:
All new chrome (go price this!...expensive) All new hoses, belts, vacuum system All new heating system (interior vacuum, feeder hoses, etc.) All new dash pad, sill plates, etc. All new period-perfect radial tires All new Quadrajet carb rebuild (idles forever...try that with a Quadrajunk!) All new roll-in bed liner All new transmission service (shifts out perfectly) And I bet I have missed some things. I want to stress this is NOT A PERFECT TRUCK, but I can tell you where there was minor surface rust (minimal) on the fenders, doors, and inner fenders, I had it either REPLACED with new metal or metal patch. No filler here. Get out your magnet and check if you would like! Here are the things I wanted to fix, but decided to sell instead: Needs new or better steering wheel Needs new seat cover Needs windshield Needs shocks Needs armrests As you can see, not a whole lot to make this a really cool truck. A show winner? I don't know about that, but this is a no-nonsense cool Arkansas truck. In fact, I feel so good about it, you can drive it home...no matter where you are from. No kidding. This puppy runs great. Ask all the questions you want or call me at 870-582-2192. I will be happy to be up-front with you about anything. I have been keeping this truck under my shed for two years now, and it is time to go! |

GM says over 40% of new China launches in next five years will be EVs
Wed, Aug 19 2020SHANGHAI — General Motors is planning an electric car offensive in China with more than 40% of its new launches in the country over the next five years set to be electric vehicles (EVs), the U.S. carmaker said on Wednesday. GM's electric vehicles, many of which will be all-electric battery cars, will be manufactured in China with almost all parts coming from local suppliers, the company said in a statement released at its Tech Day event in Shanghai. Reuters reported earlier on Wednesday that GM was planning to overhaul its Chinese line-up to stem a slide of sales after more than two decades of growth in a country that contributes nearly a fifth of its profit. GM's new China boss Julian Blissett told Reuters that new technologies, such as EVs and cars with near hands-free driving for highways, would play a key role in GM's China initiatives, which are part of a push to get annual sales in the country back to the 4 million peak it hit in 2017. GM did not say in its statement how many new or significantly redesigned models it was planning to launch in China over the next five years. "China will play a crucial role in making our vision a reality," GM CEO Mary Barra said in the statement, referring to its initiative to create what it describes as a future of "zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion" through electrification and smart-driving technologies. GM has said it plans to invest more than $20 billion in electric and automated vehicles globally by 2025. It was not clear how much of that investment will be spent in China. 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel arrives with 42 mpg for $25,695*
Thu, 07 Feb 2013The last time General Motors had a diesel passenger car in the US, it was the 1.8-liter 1986 Chevette. At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show today, GM is unveiling the much-anticipated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. The compact bows with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that boasts 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, with full twist coming on at just 2,000 rpm. What's more, the common-rail, direct-injection diesel features an overboost function that allows the engine to deliver up to 280 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds at a time. Even with 10 more horsepower and 110 more pound-feet of torque than the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder in the Cruze, the 2.0-liter diesel engine can return up to 42 mpg (highway) bolted to its six-speed automatic transmission.
If you're counting, that figure meets the less powerful Cruze Eco with a six-speed manual transmission. More importantly, the auto transmission Cruze Diesel matches its main competition, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, in highway fuel economy. The Cruze 2.0 TD (as it will be badged) can also handle up to 20 percent biodiesel (B20), whereas the Jetta is rated only for B5. General Motors has not released city fuel economy for its newest diesel, but we do know how much it will cost you to jump behind the driver's seat.
GM will kindly ask for $25,695, plus an $810 destination fee. That marks a $2,115 premium over a loaded Cruze LTZ Auto and $2,640 more than the Jetta TDI, though the MSRP will net you a leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels and an Aero Performance Package, as well as a two-year maintenance plan and five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Compared to the gas-powered Cruze, you also lose a couple cubic feet of rear cargo space thanks to a 17-liter diesel emission fluid tank. That urea fluid, which helps put the clean in clean diesel, will need to be refilled at least every 10,000 miles.
EcoCar3 will convert Camaro to bitchin' eco rides
Sat, Apr 26 2014In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party.
