Super straight southern pickup truck. If you are looking for a turn key ride, that's not full of body filler, and is a beautiful driver, this is the truck. It is a 1971 model, and it is not perfect, but it is a really nice solid truck. Floor pans look to be original and are solid with no rust. Had a Body Shop manager look this truck over from top to bottom. He found no body filler, but did say that the rockers had been replaced, and the doors looked like they have been skinned. He found no work done to the bed. The dash pad has a few cracks, but is presentable. The seat has been recovered and looks very well done. The heater controls and the heater core and the heater blower motor have been removed. And there are aftermarket gauges and a switch panel installed to control the necessary functions of the truck. Interior door panels are aftermarket, but again was very well done. Very nice carpet. Now the drive train. The engine came out of a 56 Chevrolet my friend is restoring. The block has been milled sometime in its life and the engine code is very hard to read, but with a magnifying glass, I found what looks to be RQ, which match's the casting number years for a 1964 8 cylinder 327. Motors breakdown for the engine is RQ /1964/8-327-w-M/T-A/C-HPE. But I in no way guarantee that is what the engine is. But I have built, raced and enjoyed many small block Chevrolet engines. It has a hydraulic mid-range camshaft that has that really cool idle and sounds like your buddy's L79. And I'm sure this engine has been balanced. Has that radical sound and does not shake or vibrate. The engine has an Edelbrock Manifold and Carb. The mileage on the truck or engine is unknown, but it does smoke, shuts off tight, and runs like a scalded dog. Clutch is tight and does not slip. The transmission is a M20 Muncie 4 speed with a Hurst Shifter and is quite as a church mouse. Rear differential has 4:11 gears. The installation of the driveline is not all monkeyed up, and is very well done, with new motor and transmission mounts. The exhaust is Rams horn manifolds and goes through flowmaster mufflers and sounds really good. If you decide to put the interior back to the original look, most of the parts needed are brand new and come to with the truck. The heater controls, the ignition switch, the dome light, dash and dash bezel, wiper arms and blades, antenna, etc. , see pictures. If you wanted to put the heater box, heater core, and blower motor back in the truck, it can be done easily. The firewall just has plates blocking the holes. Remove the plates and reinstall the parts. This truck drives like a new 1971, handles nice, doesn't wonder, rides like it did in 1971. Now down to the important part. Ask questions, come and see the truck. I'm selling this truck for a friend. If you are the winning bidder, be prepared to pay for it with in 10 days of auction end. And the truck is being sold AS-IS, I have described it as honestly as I can. You can message me through eBay and I will get back to you as quickly as I can. Thanks for looking.

Supercharged 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 takes the C7 beyond the ZR1
Mon, 13 Jan 2014
The Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
After a bright-yellow false start, here is the real thing: the fourth-generation, 2015 Corvette Z06. If Chevrolet makes a ZR1 version of the C7 Corvette, it's going to be absolutely mega, because the Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm
Thu, Jan 8 2015Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.
Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat vs. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in latest Head 2 Head
Fri, Jan 30 2015"Olympian" is one of the terms we use to signify the greatest height, the seat of the gods. Yet Mt. Olympus is the second-highest peak in the Balkans ranges, overshadowed by the crest at Musala in Bulgaria's Rila mountains. Both great heights, but one is a little higher. That's how we get the Olympian Chevy Camaro ZL1 pitched at the Musalic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in Motor Trend's latest episode of Head 2 Head. The side-by-side spec sheet is filled with farcical numbers. For the ZL1, that's a 6.2-liter V8 with 580 horsepower, 556 pound-feet of torque, a 4,051-pound curb weight, 0-to-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds and a base price of just $57,800. Opposing that, the Hellcat wrings out its 6.2-liter V8 for 707 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, weighs 4,449 pounds, does the quarter in 11.7 seconds and has a base price of just $60,990. Except in the case of the Hellcat, when Motor Trend put it on the dyno the machine spit out a reading of 672 hp and 606 lb-ft at the wheels. If there's a 10-percent driveline loss through those beefed-up internals and heavy-duty eight-speed transmission, that means the Hellcat is actually rated at about 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. But once they get put on a closed-off strip of coast road in Northern California, there are only a few strands of hair between their respective performances. That's not the case for they sensations provide; host Jonny Lieberman calls one of them, "One of the most incredible cars ever made," and says, "It changes everything." Watch the video above to see who got the verdict and how. Related Video:
