I acquired this truck from one of my customers (I own a small engine dealership). She had the truck parked in her barn and I saw if when picking up a ATV she needed repaired. I ultimately bought the truck and another piece of equipment from her. The history on the truck was that her grandfather bought the truck new in 1970 from Brunt-Ward Chevrolet in Louisville Ms. He drove the truck for two years until his death in 1972. At that time, the customer's father put the truck in his shed and used it very intermittently until his death in 2007. At that time, the daughter put the truck in her barn where it sat until I bought it. She indicted there was one attempt the crank it up about three years ago by her husband but he told he the carb was bad ad the radiator was shot

When I bought the truck, I had a wrecker pick it up and tow it to my business. At this point I have had my mechanic do the following work to the truck:

1. Carb - my mechanic pulled the carb and took it apart and cleaned it (soaked in cleaner) and put it back together. We replaced the internal fuel filter in the carb with a new one.

2. We replaced the fuel pump and the gas tank due to the corrosion we found in the original tank.

3. We dropped the oil out of the unit and replaced the oil and oil filter.

4. We replaced the water pump as well as dropped and replaced the antifreeze. We were surprised at the condition of the radiator as it was in good shape. Later we found a receipt in the glove box for a radiator that was purchased in 2010 - apparently her husband replaced the radiator.

5. We originally had problems getting the heater to work but found a that a rodent had built a nest inside the heater mechanism that kept the heater from turning on. We have cleaned that up and now the heater is functional.

6. We cleaned (not detailed the truck).

Other things worth mentioning:

A. Tires were replaced 8/5/06. This includes the spare. They appear to be in good shape.

B. The truck now cranks and drives. I have driven the truck back and forth from my business to my home a couple of times (about 10 miles each way). The truck engine runs well.

C. The brakes on the truck work although they truck pulls to the left under heavy braking. I would expect that the new owner would need to do brake work.

D. The glass on the truck is good with the exception of the front windshield which has a major crack. The passenger side mirror is loose inside its housing but is in one piece.

E. The inside is in good shape with no tears in the seat or the door panels or dashpad. One of the seatbelts does have a cracked plastic cover housing. The steering wheel also has a couple of cracks in the plastic.

F. As best I can tell all of the lights and signals work.

G. There are several small dents located on the truck. I believe most will show up in the pictures. I would assume the new owner if they want to restore this truck will have it repainted and I don't think the dent repairs will be a big issue.

H. I can find no significant rustthru on the exterior of the vehicle. There is some surface rust on the vehicle. The wheels and hubcaps are very rusty.

I. The transmission is a standard shift - 3 speed on the column

Not sure what else is needed to describe the vehicle. Hopefully the pictures will show the overall condition of the vehicle, If you have any questions, please let me know. My phone number is 601 656 5131 - ask for Kevin. I would prefer local pickup on the truck but will assist in loading it with a shipping company if the buyer prefers. Payment by cash or certified check. I would like a deposit of $500 (paypal OK) within 5 business days with the reminder at pickup.

GM recalls select Chevy Cruze, Sonic and Buick Verano models over airbag issue

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

General Motors is recalling certain 2012 Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic models due to a defect in the driver's airbag system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag has a shorting bar which may contact two internal terminals. If that happens during a crash, the supplemental restraint may not deploy, increasing the risk of driver injury. The recall includes a total of 2,949 units.
GM will contact owners and replace the steering wheel airbag coil at no cost. At this point, it's unclear when the recall will begin, though owners may contact the automaker at 1-800-521-7300 for more information. You may also take a closer look at the full NHTSA notice below.

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
