FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS THIS 1969 CHEVY PICKUP SEMI-PRO STREET PROJECT THAT INCLUDES JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING TO COMPLETE WHAT WAS TO BE ONE REALLY NICE STREET-ABLE AND VERY FAST CLASSIC PICKUP.

THIS IS PROBABLY THE WORST TIME & WAY FOR ME TO SELL THIS TRUCK BUT HEALTH REASONS LEAVE NO CHOICE.

BEFORE I GO INTO WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION LET ME EXPLAIN WHAT HAS HAPPENED UP TO DATE.

I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK ON EBAY IN 2001 IN COMPLETE RUNNING CONDITION WITH A 350 CU.IN. SUMMIT RACING LONG BLOCK AND A TH400 AUTOMATIC TRANS. IT HAS 4:56 GEARS AND WHILE IT RAN NICE I WANTED IT CLOSER TO AN 11 SECOND 1/4 MILE EVERYDAY DRIVER PICKUP. AT THE TIME I HAD A FULLY OUTFITTED PRIVATE SPEED SHOP AND WAS RESTORING SEVERAL MUSCLE CARS AND TWO 23' ELIMINATOR DAYTONA'S SO THROWING IN ONE MORE PROJECT WAS NO BIG DEAL.

THE EXISTING ENGINE IN THE TRUCK SOUNDED MEAN BUT DIDN'T BACK IT UP ON THE ROAD SO I PULLED THE ENGINE AND TRANS AND REMOVED MOST OF THE INTERIOR WITH THE INTENT OF REPLACING IT ALL WITH NEW CLASSIC INDUSTRIES PARTS.

THE NEW ENGINE CAME IN. A NEW 700R4 RAPTOR TRANS WITH A 4200 STALL CONVERTER CAME IN. THIS PACKAGE WAS INSTALLED AND I PUT THE BREAK-IN TIME ON THE ENGINE BEFORE WE TRYED A FEW HOLE SHOTS IN FRONT OF THE SHOP. THE TRUCK LAUNCHES STRAIGHT ARROW AND TRACTION WAS EXCELLENT. IT PULLED THE FRONT TIRES 3-4" OFF THE GROUND FOR 40' WHILE STILL PROVIDING A NICE SMOKE SHOW 3 TIMES OUT OF 3 TRY'S.

THATS AS FAR AS I GOT WHEN MY WIFE BECAME SERIOUSLY ILL.  AFTER ONE YEAR SHE NEEDED FULL-TIME CARE SO WITH THE SHOP BEING LOCKED UP FOR A YEAR MOST ALL THE PROJECT VEHICLES & BOATS WERE SOLD OFF TO PAY MEDICAL BILLS BUT I KEPT THIS PICKUP. I HAD TO TAKE AN EARLY RETIREMENT AND WE MOVED FROM CA TO AR IN 2003 TO LIVE A GOOD LIFE ON MUCH LESS MONEY. FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS IT LIVED UNDER A TARP UNTIL I BUILT A BARN/SHOP TO STORE IT. SEVERAL YEARS LATER MY WIFE DIED AND I HAD A WORN OUT HIP AND ONE BAD KNEE SO THOSE SURGERIES KEPT ME INDOORS FOR ANOTHER YEAR. I LOST INTEREST IN FINISHING THIS TRUCK AS MY AGE KREPT UP AND NOW BAD HEALTH KEEPS ME FROM GETTING IT RUNNING AGAIN AND FINISHING WHAT I STARTED. WHILE SITTING FOR SO MANY YEARS AND NOT RUNNING, THE ENGINE HAS LOCKED UP AND THE BRAKES LOST ALL FLUID. PROBABLY CRACKED RUBBER BRAKES HOSES THAT LEAKED. WHY THE ENGINE IS LOCKED I HAVE NO IDEA. IT WAS PARKED RUNNING JUST FINE SO IT MUST BE MOISTURE IN THE CYLINDERS BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW OR WHEN IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. THERE IS DEFINITELY NOTHING BROKEN IN THIS ENGINE.

SO HERE IS WHAT COMES WITH THIS PICKUP:

THE TRUCK ITSELF LOOKS GOOD WITH VERY LITTLE BODYWORK NEEDED TO HAVE IT READY FOR ANOTHER COLOR COAT. EXISTING PAINT HAS NEVER BUBBLED AND IS STILL A GOOD BASE IF YOU KEEP THE SAME COLOR. THE FLOOR PANS ARE SOLID AND THE FRAME LOOKS GOOD. I HAVE NOT PRESSURE WASHED IT OR EVEN CLEANED IT AT ALL SINCE MOVING IT HERE SO YOU'LL SEE A FEW REMNANTS OF WEEDS ON THE UNDERSIDE. IT HAS A DROPPED FRONT END WHICH OFFERS 4" OF GROUND CLEARANCE LETTING THE TRUCK SIT LOW AS THE BACK END IS ONLY A COUPLE INCHES HIGHER. DISK BRAKES IN FRONT, DRUMS IN THE REAR. POWER BRAKES, POWER STEERING, AIR CONDITIONING (IS NOT CHARGED),  POWER WINDOW KIT IS HALF INSTALLED BUT EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED TO FINISH IT, NEW ONE-PIECE DOOR GLASS WINDOWS SINCE THE WING WINDOWS WERE DELETED. ENOUGH DYNAMAT TO SOUNDPROOF THE INTERIOR FLOOR AND PART WAY UP THE BODY, STEREO CD/ RADIO PLUS A BASE BOX AND DOOR SPEAKERS, NEW HEADLINER AND DOOR PANELS, NEW GUAGES WITH PODS ON NEW DASH PAD WITH EXTRA GAUGES AND ORIGINAL INSTRUMENT PANEL. NEW BLACK FABRIC BUCKET SEATS WITH A SEPARATE FOLD-DOWN CENTER CONSOLE/ARMREST THAT WHEN FOLDED UP ALLOWS A THIRD PASSENGER. NEW BLACK CARPET.

THE REAR FENDER WELLS HAVE BEEN ADDED ON WITH A MINI TUB KIT NOW ALLOWING A LARGER OFFSET RIM FOR WIDE SLICKS. DIFFERENTIAL IS POSI AND HAS 4:56 GEARS. ALUMINUM FUEL CELL ( I BELIEVE 15 GAL) AND THE SENDING UNIT IS INCLUDED.  HIGH FLOW ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP AND SEPARATE CANISTER FUEL FILTER WITH ALL BRAIDED HOSES AND EARLS FITTINGS. 2 IN-LINE TRANSMISSIONS COOLER FINNED PIPING UNITS RUNNING DOWN RIGHT SIDE OF THE FRAME WITH BRAIDED LINES AND EARLS FITTINGS.

THE TRANSMISSION IS A CUSTOM ORDERED 700 RAPTOR STAGE 3 WITH A 4200 - 4500 STALL CONVERTER, 4 SPEED AUTOMATIC CONTROLLED BY A HURST RATCHET SHIFTER.

THE ENGINE IS A BORED AND STROKED 350 BUILT TO 383 CU.IN, 500 PLUS HP AND I DO NOT REMEMBER THE TORQUE #'S. I ORDERED IT WITH FULLY FORGED INTERNALS, 11.5 COMPRESSION, ALUMINUM DART LARGE VALVE HEADS, ROLLER ROCKERS, MSD IGNITION AND DISTRIBUTOR, HOLLEY CARB, CERAMIC COATED HEADERS, REQUIRES 102 TO 104 OCTANE. OCTANE BOOSTER SUCH AS TORCO ADDED TO PREMIUM UNLEADED WORKED FINE OR RACING FUEL BUT THAT'S AN EXPENSIVE WAY TO GO.

ALL IN ALL I HAVE EVERYTHING THAT CAME OFF THE TRUCK OTHER THAN THE OLD ENGINE AND TRANS WHICH IS INCLUDED ALONG WITH ALL THE NEW PARTS ALL BOUGHT IN 2001. THE BENCH SEAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES IS UNBOLTED AND LOOSE JUST FOR USING IT WHILE MOVING THE TRUCK. IT GOES WITH THE TRUCK AS WELL IF YOU WANT IT OTHERWISE I CAN DISPOSE OF IT IF YOU LEAVE IT BEHIND.

THE ENGINE RAN ME $6,500.00, THE TRANS WAS $1,800.00, INTERIOR PARTS INCLUDING GAUGES WERE $1,600.00 AND ANOTHER $2,000.00 IN BRAIDED LINES, ALUMINUM RADIATOR, COOLING FAN, WIRING HARNESSES, FUEL PUMP AND FILTER. $560.00 FOR NEW FRONT TIRES AND NEW M/T STREET SLICKS & ANOTHER $400.00 FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH MUFFLERS. BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE DRIED OUT I JUST INSTALLED NEW FRONTS AND M/T REARS LAST SUMMER.

THE TRUCK ITSELF COST ME $6,500.00 IN OK CONDITION BUT IN NEED OF RESTORATION TO REALLY ENJOY IT. THAT WAS A VERY GOOD BUY CONSIDERING IT IS REALLY HARD TO FIND AN ORIGINAL SHORT BED FLEET SIDE FROM THE 60'S.

THE RESERVE IS SET AT LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT I HAVE SPENT FOR EVERYTHING.

THERE WOULD BE NO DISAPPOINTMENTS BUYING THIS PROJECT IF YOU HAVE SOME SPARE TIME AND WANT A HEAD TURNING CLASSIC PICKUP THAT CAN RUN AS MEAN AS IT SOUNDS.

ONCE AGAIN, THIS TRUCK IS NOT RUNNING AND NEEDS TO BE WINCHED ON A TRAILER.

IT IS OFFERED FOR SALE AS-IS AND WHERE-IS WITH NO WARRANTY.

THANKS FOR LOOKING !!

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]

Wed, Jan 14 2015

Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
