For Sale: 1968 Chevy K20.  1968 body with 1971 running gear.  It runs and drives well.  It has power steering and power brakes.

Engine is the 1971 350.  It is stock with the exception of the air cleaner and an HEI distributor. Runs strong.  No smoke or knocks.  Tuned up since I've had it. Recent oil change.  TH350 Automatic and gear driven transfer case from 1971 as well.  The front and rear axles are 1971 with open knuckle, disc brakes in front and 4.10 gears.

The body is nice but not a show truck.  It is originally from South Dakota and it doesn't look like any sheet metal has been replaced on it.  It is still a solid old truck.  It was redone about 10 years ago.  I have owned it about 5 years and used it sparingly since.  It has always been garaged and still looks good but I have used it/driven it.

The interior is nice. The soft parts are black and the sheet metal is green.  It has  a seat cover over the original seat.  The original seat has some small tears on the drivers side but not bad. It has a rear sliding window and a sun roof.  Also an aftermarket digital radio.  All gauges work well.

All in all this is a nice old truck.  It runs, drives and looks good.  It has a 3" body lift and good 33x12.50x16.5 BGF MTs on aluminum slot rims that look right for the year and style of truck. The headlight switch sometimes acts funny and needs the right wiggle to get the lights to come on.  I will include a new switch with the truck but I've always been able to get them to work.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.
