1968 Chevy C10 Cst Shortbed Truck - Fresh 350 W/ 200r4 Overdrive on 2040-cars
Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
Up for sale is a 1968 C10 Shortbed truck that was rebuilt around five years ago and is a great driver. VIN decodes as an original V8 2WD truck out of the Fremont, CA plant. Clean 350 motor (010 casting)
has less than 15k miles on it and just had a 200r4 overdrive
transmission installed about three months ago by Danny's in Greensboro, NC
with a new B&M Mega shifter (have receipt for trans/converter/driveshaft & install for $1,750, has a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty that started when installed in April). Trans was built with aftermarket
clutches, converter and TCI lockup kit. Driveshaft was shortened and
rebalanced with a new yoke. Trans shifts
into overdrive too early for my liking so I use the B&M shifter to
manually shift from drive to overdrive. Motor has a new Edelbrock 600 carb with
electric choke, Edelbrock aluminum Performer intake, new Chevrolet valve covers, new distributor cap, new rotor, new button, new plugs & plug wires, new starter, new hoses & clamps
and a new Cadillac air breather. Truck has new ceramic
coated mid-length headers and 2 1/2 exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers that dump at
the axle. Interior was redone at the the time of the rebuild and has
very little wear and tear if any. Front seat was completely reupholstered and new black carpet installed. Has brand new front and rear chrome
bumpers, brand new side maker lens, brand new taillight and reverse lens
as well. The paint shows well and is in pretty good shape but there is a
little body work showing. Mainly where the gas cap was smoothed, spot
on the front of the passenger fender, two spots on the hood and a few nicks here and there. Nothing
major but wanted to point it out so that a perfect paint job isn't
expected. Fuel tank was removed from behind the seat and replaced with
an in-bed RDS toolbox conversion tank ($700 bucks from Northern Tool).
Nice conversion as it eliminates fuel odors from the cab and it holds
41-gallons, so you're not filling up for long road trips. Truck has
power steering, power brakes and with the overdrive it cruises great
down the highway at around 2,000 rpm. Truck is currently daily driven at least 30 miles everyday and will continue to be driven till sold. Please keep in mind this is not a show truck but is also not priced as one. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding, if anyone wants more pics or if you'd like to come and inspect the truck in person feel free to call me.
336.339.6867 Thanks- Rick Also, below the VIN tag in the door jamb there is an additional tag that says: 5370 404 68 CHEV PU LIGHT DEPT. Not sure if was possibly an original government issued truck or anything but had a guy view the truck last week that asked if I knew the significance and I'm not sure about it....maybe a C10 guru can chime in on some info. Also, had plans of completing an LS / T56 swap but need to focus on other projects. Available to winning bidder if interested, I have a LS1 aluminum block based 383 stroker with ported heads, FAST 92mm intake, Jesel rockers, custom Comp cam, 42lb injectors, etc that made 477rwhp on the dyno. Also have some other swap parts available. |

Autoblog fan favorite car ads from Super Bowl XLIX
Mon, Feb 2 2015Super Bowl XLIX is in the books, and the New England Patriots emerged victorious. Of course, if you're like us, the big game wasn't so much about the battle between the east coast and west, so much as a fight between the world's automotive advertisers. We collected and collated all of last night's new ads and put them together for you to vote on. And yes, we're limiting this year's contest to last night's new features. That's why you aren't seeing Dodge's epic Wisdom among our collection of commercials, and it's a similar story with Chevrolet's Truck Guy Focus Group series, which highlights the new Colorado. You can still vote for your favorites. We won't be closing the voting on our Super Bowl page, so while the winners and losers are correct as of this writing, it's entirely possible that there could be some changes in the rankings as time goes on. So, without any further ado, here are the winning ads based on your voting. Nissan: With Dad Fiat: Ready For Action Jeep: Beautiful Lands BMW: Newfangled Idea Mercedes-Benz: Fable NASCAR: America Start Your Engines As for those ads that failed to impact you, loyal readers, Toyota was the absolute, undisputed loser. The Japanese brand ran four ads in total – two for Toyota and two for Lexus – and all of them have negative tallies as of this writing. Lexus' Make Some Noise and Lets Play and Toyota's One Bold Choice and My Bold Dad both had very weak showings among the commercials that aired, although they weren't alone. Neither Mazda nor Kia scored particularly well, despite featuring celebrity magic act Penn and Teller and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, respectively. Chevrolet was the winner of the losers, as of our writing, recording the fewest downvotes for its audience-punking The Big Game ad. If you want to take a second look at the losing ads, you can head back to our Super Bowl page for the complete collection. But for now, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the results.
Buick takes top spot in 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study
Tue, Jun 28 2022People, economies, and supply chains weren't the only things continuing to get sick over the past year. The 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) is out, showing the average rate of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership increased overall. The average figure for the 32 ranked manufacturers in 2020 was about 166 problems per 100 vehicles. In the 2021 IQS, that dropped to an average of 162. This year, the average jumps to 180 problems. J.D. Power says that figure is a record high over the 36-year history of the study. Buick leapt to the top of the rankings this year with the fewest issues, at 139 problems per 100 vehicles in the first 100 days of ownership. After Dodge became the first American automaker to lead the IQS in 2020, followed by Ram in 2021, this year marks a three-peat for U.S. carmakers. Dodge took second this year at 143 PP100, Chevrolet third with 147 PP100, Genesis the first luxury maker on the chart in fourth with 156 PP100. Between February and May, this year's study gathered responses to 223 questions from more than 84,000 new 2022-model-year car owners and lessees. The questions are designed to zero in on real-world problems new owners encounter with nine categories of vehicle features: Infotainment; features, controls and displays; exterior; driving assistance; interior; powertrain; seats; driving experience; and climate. As has been the case in the past few year, infotainment has proved to be the most problematic bugbear making scores worse. Considering features individually, six of 10 of the worst problem areas dealt with infotainment, causing infotainment's score of 45 PP100 to be 19.5 PP100 worse than the second-placed feature. Consumers ranked getting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to connect reliably as the most troublesome. GM didn't just score with Buick, which was one of only nine of the 33 ranked brands to show improvement this year. The conglomerate earned first place with the fewest PP100 among all the automaker groups, and scored the most model-level awards with nine, ahead of BMW with eight and Hyundai Group with three. This year's study again showed a gap between luxury and mass-market makers, thought to be down to the amount of tech in luxury vehicles that consumers aren't properly informed about or that doesn't act as expected — that latter issue exacerbated by the chip shortage.
GM Recalls 218,000 Chevy Aveo Models Over Fire-Prone Lighting
Wed, May 21 2014The recall train keeps on rolling for General Motors. Hot on the heels of its recent 2.4 million-vehicle recall of various models, it's now calling in 218,000 Chevrolet Aveo units from the 2004-2008 model years because they could catch fire. The problem concerns the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. It could overheat, melt and cause a fire. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, "We are aware of some fires," and the company "is still investigating." Adler wouldn't comment about how many fires were reported or when the automaker was first aware of this issue because of the ongoing analysis. However, he said the issue has not caused any injuries or fatalities. GM also doesn't have a fix for the problem with the DRL module yet. The company says in its recall statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the remedy "is still under development." Adler wasn't sure when it would be ready, but he said Aveo owners would receive notification in the mail "relatively soon." They will receive a second letter later to schedule the repair. In a separate letter about the Aveo's problem to NHTSA (viewable here as a PDF), GM said its Executive Field Action Decision Committee decided to conduct the recall on May 16. Scroll down for the recall report. RECALL Subject : Daytime Running Light Module Overheating Report Receipt Date: MAY 19, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V261000 Component(s): Potential Number of Units Affected: 218,000 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the center console in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module. CONSEQUENCE: If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire. REMEDY: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14236. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
