Up for sale is my 68 Chevy C-10. Great truck wife wants to start a restauraunt though. Truck runs and drives with about 170k on the odometer. Four on the floor, not column shift. Old 327 gave out years ago replaced by running 305 for now. No power brakes or power steering. Truck has quadrajet carb and runs well. Exhaust dumps out right at the Y underneath the cab = very loud truck. Fuel gauge needs new wire run, but the sending unit is new from LMC truck. Recently got all the lights and turn signals working including reverse lights. New brake light lenses for safety. Short somewhere in the instrument cluster light comes and goes I haven't found it yet. Dash hasn't been hacked on too much still spot for radio, but ignition area will need some patch work. Replaced hi-lo beam floor switch and replaced the mirrors with stock mirrors from LMC truck = better looking truck. Brakes all rebuilt front and rear with new everything except the rear drums. New master cylinder within last 150 miles. Only problem I had with the new wheel cylinders is theyre a bit different shaped in the casting and the retainer clip for the wheel cylinder bolt can't be hammered back into place. Still have the original wheel cylinders if you just want to rebuild those and run them. Haven't had a problem but the brakes need bled a little better. Truck has a New Process 435 manual granny tranny, which is kinda rare for Chevy. When I first got the truck I thought the synchro was out and first gear was kinda tall. Turns out it's meant to be un-synchronized and it's tall for towing. You actually use 2nd gear as 1st. Anyway real good transmission still going strong no issues. Bed is in saveable shape, needs some patches though. Tailgate is in pretty good shape actually worth 500 bucks alone. Truck currently is running white spokes with tires that need replaced. Would not recommend you plan on driving the truck very far on these tires. Plan on bringing your trailer if you live far away from Salina, KS. Truck had a few extra gas tanks mounted to it through the bedsides at some point in time. I cut out the rest of the old fuel system and now it just runs on the cab tank which I just cleaned out. Interior was probably originally black, been switched out with a gold color. Hood has slight dent also isn't original from that same gold truck the steering column and interior came out of. Missing glove box sticker but it's not hard telling what options it had. Truck is fairly rusty just about everywhere needs alot of patchwork done, but I have a clean and clear title in my name. The windshield wipers work. This isn't a hodgepodge truck either. Just looks like it hit a deer at one point, and someone swapped some stuff around from a gold 67-68 sometime later and then the motor went? Was parked awhile from what I was told. Always a Kansas truck too from the title I had before sending it off in my name. Needs radiator support as the animal strike has bent it a little right where the hood striker is. Floorpan is rusted good don't trust the seatbelts until new floors are installed. Also has the hard to find 67-68 front clip. Truck has never had a repaint, just literally went over with a paintbrush. Everything but the motor, hood, front clip, interior, and steering column are original to the truck with the exception of the battery tray. Buyer will receive title and keys for the truck upon payment clearing my bank. $500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hrs of auction closing. Also have extra set of door locks not installed yet. Needs radiator hoses as well.

Chevy Volt 'acceptable,' Nissan Leaf 'poor' in new IIHS safety tests

Thu, Jul 31 2014

Ford C-Max Hybrid also scored "acceptable" rating. With US Nissan Leaf sales up almost 30 percent during the first half of the year, the only thing that might be able to stop the battery-electric vehicle is a good, stiff barrier. Unfortunately, thing's aren't always pretty when that happens in the real world, according to new tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Things with the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in are a little bit rosier, though. The two plug-in vehicles were part of a batch of a dozen vehicles that just went through the IIHS's "small overlap" test, in which the driver's side front corner of the vehicle is crashed into a rigid barrier at 40 miles per hour. Out of the dozen, only the Mini Cooper Countryman was given a "good" rating. Five vehicles, including the Volt and the Ford C-Max Hybrid, were rated "acceptable," two were "marginal" and two, including the Leaf, were "poor." Plug-in vehicles are unique in the crash-test context because of their relatively large battery sizes. In the Volt's case, the driver had a "low risk" of injury, said the IIHS. But the Leaf's crash substantially pushed back the instrument panel and steering column, creating a scenario where the driver was "likely" to sustain leg injuries. The batteries in both the Leaf and the Volt passed safety tests specifically targeted at things like thermo and electrical properties and overall integrity. "Nissan is proud of the Leaf's 'Good' rating in all other IIHS tests, a 4-star NCAP rating from NHTSA and its IIHS Top Safety Pick rating in all previous years since the car's release," the company said in an e-mail sent to AutoblogGreen. "As for the performance of the 2014 Leaf in the 'small overlap frontal test,' Nissan will continue to review these and other results from the IIHS 'small overlap frontal test' as we seek opportunities for improvement." Check out the IIHS's press release and small car crash-test video footage below. Range of ratings: Small car ratings run the gamut in challenging small overlap front test The Mini Cooper Countryman is the only small car to earn a good rating among the latest group of 12 cars subjected to the Institute's small overlap front crash test. Two electric models and a hybrid also are in the mix, with varied results. The electric-powered Chevrolet Volt (with a gasoline engine "range extender") earns an acceptable rating, while its battery-electric rival, the Nissan Leaf, earns a poor rating.

Mustang retakes monthly pony car sales crown from Camaro

Wed, Dec 3 2014

Going back to their origins in the Swinging '60s, the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro have been fierce rivals for fans' hearts and dollars. Historically, the Ford often led in volume, but Chevy took the muscle car top spot in 2009 upon the Camaro's rebirth. However, with the launch of the latest Blue Oval pony car, the tide is turning back in Ford's favor. November was the first full month of sales for the new 2015 Mustang, and according to TheDetroitBureau.com, the model did spectacularly well. The Blue Oval shifted 8,728 of them, up 62 percent from same month last year, with the automaker proclaiming it the model's best November sales since 2006. Conversely, 4,385 units of the Camaro were delivered, down 13.5 percent year-over-year, meaning its sales were roughly half that of the new-generation Mustang. Ford is understandably happy with the results, and product development director Raj Nair even hinted to TDB that another version of the Mustang might be unveiled at January's North American International Auto Show. Rumor has it that the model will be the even more potent Shelby Mustang GT350R. Despite the Mustang's November success, the Camaro outsells it year to day. So far in 2014, Ford has sold 73,124 Mustangs versus 79,669 examples of the Camaro. With December offering the last chance for an overtake, the Bowtie may yet remain king for this year's sales crown. A new Camaro is peeking over the horizon, as well. It's reportedly moving to the Alpha platform used by the Cadillac ATS, and production could start in late 2015. Prototypes are already testing at the Nurburgring, and camouflaged examples have been spotted weirdly being compared to its '80s forefather.

Recharge Wrap-up: Detroit Electric teaser video, Nissan Leaf is Good Housekeeping "Tried and Tested"

Mon, Oct 20 2014

Detroit Electric has a new teaser video and has updated its brand in preparation of the introduction of the SP:01. The refreshed logo uses a blue and white color palette, and the company has also given its website a new look. The teaser video, which gives a sneak peek at the exterior of the SP:01, shows the car taking form in the midst of an electrical storm. Watch the video or learn more in the press release below. Abengoa is celebrating the grand opening of a commercial scale cellulosic ethanol plant in Hugoton, KS. When running at full scale, the refinery will produce up to 25 million gallons of ethanol a year. The plant will also generate enough electricity to power itself and put some back into the grid. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz was on hand for the dedication, saying, "Every gallon of cellulosic ethanol produced and used to fuel our vehicles reduces the impact of harmful greenhouse gas emissions by greater than 60 percent as compared to conventional gasoline." Learn more at Energy.gov. Good Housekeeping has named the Nissan Leaf one of its "Tried and Tested" vehicles. The magazine called the Leaf SL its top "Roomy Electric" vehicle in its November issue. The magazine's research institute evaluated the EV based on track and road driving, ergonomics and convenience features. Good Housekeeping made note of the car's "impressive" range, but according to Nissan's Fred Diaz, "the real beauty of the Nissan Leaf is that it's roomy and, best of all, fun to drive." It uses things like grains leftover from brewing Budweiser, food waste from a baseball stadium and sewage sludge to produce the gas through anaerobic digestion. The compressed gas can then be used to power cars like Chevrolet's Bi-fuel Impala, which goes on sale later this year. Chevrolet likens the situation to the Delorean time machine in the Back To The Future movie series, which uses garbage to fuel its fusion generator.
