This is a 1968 Chevrolet C-10 2WD long-bed pickup with a great running 250 straight 6 engine and 4 speed manual transmission (on the floor).

The body has rust in all the normal/usual places.  They are so commonly rusted in these places that LMC (and tons of other places) make all the patch panels for them, and they're all really cheap.  (cab corners, rockers, lower fender pieces, etc.) pretty much any rust spot you have there is a cut and weld patch for it.

I included as many pix as I could.  If you want more pix just ask and I'll send you more.

Usually everyone wants to pull the straight 6 and put a V8 in but I would just hate to do that to this truck because the straight 6 in it run so great!  Just a flick of the key and it starts right up and sounds great.

All the running gear is original.  All the steering and suspension parts are tight and straight.  Frame is perfectly straight.

The engine is very clean, only has a minor rear main seal leak, no where else.  (just put a new water pump on)

Gas tank has been removed, cleaned and sealed.  Has a new fuel sending unit, fuel lines, and filter.

Trans shift nicely no noises, clutch is good, rear end sounds good, no play in the pinion, nice clean gear oil, no bearing noise.  Driveline u-joints and carrier bearing are in nice shape.

Has no power steering or power brakes as original.  That is something I think I'd do if I was to keep it.  Disc brake conversion and power steering.

Dash is not cut up although a previous owner moved the ignition key into one of the radio holes?  Don't know why.  There are some small screw holes in the dash, easy fix.

The driver's door is a bit rough. (see pix)  Fixable but I think it would be more advantageous to just replace it.  Passenger door is in really good, tight condition...closes nice and lines up great.

The tailgate is pretty much toast, dented pretty badly.  $168 for a new one.  Or another idea is to replace the whole bed with a 90s Chevy bed or anything else that has a similar body-line.  Just need to take some measurements and go look around you local Pick & Pull/Pull & Save wrecking yard.

This is a project truck.  But it is a perfect project for a high schooler to learn to do some body work, maybe put his newly learned welding skills to the test.  All the while getting to drive it because it runs so well.

There is no reserve, high bid get the truck.

I bought it to do a custom-mod to it, but I decided I better finish my 23 Street Rod and 68 Firebird projects first.  Kinda need the room in the shop for them so the truck has to go.

Buyer is responsible for picking up or transporting the truck.  It is driveable if you want to drive it home.  Although I don't know if I'd trust the current tires on a long trip.  Fronts are pretty old and weather checked.  rears are two different sizes.  Might need to throw a decent used set on to drive any real distance.

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be

Thu, May 27 2021

We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be. Camaro SS facelift and dune-riding the new Mercedes-Benz GLS | Autoblog Podcast #579

Fri, May 3 2019

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Reese Counts and Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale. First, they talk about the newly refreshed Chevy Camaro SS. Then they dish on the cars they've been driving, including the Lexus UX, Lexus GS F and Volvo V90, as well as riding in the new Mercedes-Benz GLS. After that, they ask the question, how many AMG cars is too many? Finally they turn to car buying, and suggest potential vehicles for a shopper on Reddit for the "Spend My Money" segment. Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
