NO RESERVE…ORIGINAL is the key word here. A ONE OWNER for 47 years. I purchased about a month ago from the second owner to sell it, he drove it for a year or so and made some minor repairs that I will share below. This truck is complete, solid in every way and completely untouched, unpainted, unaltered, etc. and it runs great. It has been my daily driver. It has a 6 Cylinder 230 ci engine with 100k miles and the 3 speed on the column. Clutch is good and shifts through the gears with no problem and stops straight.. It has little rust considering 49 years, mostly all of it is just surface patina. It has stayed in the South Carolina weather for its entire life. It seems like it was just exposed to some humidity based on the surface patina. 3 of the 4 cab corners are in excellent shape. The floor boards are solid and the undercarriage is in great condition. The Original Spare tire is still under the original oak bed (which still has some of the original black paint). I would not suggest running the spare tire of course, It’s the tire that came with the truck. The truck comes with the ORIGINAL Protect-A-Plate Warranty Book, the ORIGINAL Manual, and the ORIGINAL Paper dealer plate. The original paper / cardboard cover is still over the gas tank and under the dash. Also, all gauges are working as they should. Nothing here is aftermarket or altered. It’s the perfect restoration, daily driver, or rat rod candidate. It’s hard to go to Home Depot without having to answer questions about this beauty and it is getting impossible to find one of these in this condition, with this natural patina.

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE

Rebuilt Carburetor

New Cap, Plugs, Wires

Valve Cover Gasket

New Heater Core and Fan Motor

New Muffler and Tail Pipe

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

Leaks a little oil around the oil pan

Back right blinker lights up but does not blink

A couple of springs on the drivers side bench are collapsed, does not affect driving.

Let me set some expectations for you about this truck. If you have not driven a 1965 Chevy C10, here is what to expect: Always get the truck up to temp first before you drive down the road. These are referred to as “Cold Weather Chevys” and they like to operate around 175-200 degrees. Prepare to work a little harder in this truck as It has power nothing. It is not geared to be driven much faster than about 65. It will however do 55 all day long and you can take it anywhere. The gear set up in these trucks are not synced up, so you will have to spend some time getting used to where you need to be at what rpm. It’s a fun truck to drive.

What if the mid-engine Corvette is really a Cadillac?

Tue, Jun 28 2016

Call me crazy, but I'm not convinced the mid-engine Corvette is the next Corvette. The rumor is strong, yes. And, contrary to some of the comments on our site, Car and Driver - leader of the mid-engine Corvette speculation brigade - has a pretty good record predicting future models. But it's another comment that got me thinking: or maybe it's a Cadillac. There is clearly something mid-engine going on at GM, and I think it makes sense for the car to be a Cadillac. First off, check out how sweet the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept car still looks in the photo above. Second, there are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. There are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. The C7 is relatively young in Corvette years, starting production almost three years ago as a 2014 model. Showing a 2019 model at the 2018 North American International Auto Show would kill sales of a strong-selling car before its time. Not to mention it would only mean a short run for the Grand Sport, which was the best-selling version of the previous generation. More stuff doesn't add up. Mid-engine cars are, in general, more expensive. Moving the Vette upmarket leaves a void that the Camaro does not fill. There's not much overlap between Camaro and Corvette customers. Corvette owners are older and enjoy features like a big trunk that holds golf clubs. Mid-engine means less trunk space and alienating a happy, loyal buyer. Also, more than 60 years of history. The Corvette is an icon along the likes of the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang. I'm not sure the car-buying public wants a Corvette that abandons all previous conventions. And big changes bring uncertainty - I don't think GM would make such a risky bet. Chevrolet could build a mid-engine ZR1, you might say, and keep the other Corvettes front-engine. Yes they could, and it would cost a ton of money. And they still need to fund development of that front-engine car. I highly doubt the corporate accountants would go for that. But a Cadillac? Totally. Cadillac is in the middle of a brand repositioning. GM is throwing money at this effort. A mid-engine halo car is the just the splash the brand needs to shake off the ghosts of Fleetwoods past. And it's already in Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen's playbook. He was in charge of Audi's North America arm when the R8 came out. A Caddy sports car priced above $100,000 isn't that unreasonable when you can already price a CTS-V in that range.

PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.

NHTSA closes 4-year GM investigation, issues common sense advisory [w/video]

Thu, Apr 9 2015

Since January 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating a possible problem with corroding brake lines in General Motors' GMT800-platform models, like the Chevrolet Silverado and Suburban and GMC Sierra, in states with salt on their roads in the winter. However, as opposed to launching a full recall of millions of vehicles, the government is issuing a common-sense safety advisory to all drivers in snowy states to keep their vehicle's undercarriage clean. It even has a video explaining things. "Older-model vehicles, often driven in harsh conditions, are subject to corrosion over long periods of time, and we need owners to be vigilant about ensuring they, their passengers, and others on the roads are safe," said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in the announcement of the end of the investigation. The agency was clear in its report that "brake line corrosion seen in the GM vehicles was not unique," and the government "has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order." Instead NHTSA is advising drivers, especially those of vehicles from before 2007, to wash their vehicle's undercarriage in the winter and spring to remove salt or other de-icing chemicals. It also recommends regular checks by a mechanic to make sure everything is in proper order. According to the investigation documents, for just the GMT800 platform models, NHTSA found 3,645 complaints of brake line corrosion, which included allegations of 107 crashes and 40 injuries. The issue was found to be more common in vehicles over 10 years old. GM has released a statement (embedded below) that the company "supports the consumer advisory from NHTSA urging regular maintenance and care of brake lines on older vehicles." NHTSA Closes Investigation into Brake-Line Failures NHTSA 13-15 Thursday, April 9, 2015 Agency issues safety advisory on preventing undercarriage corrosion WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today issued a Safety Advisory and consumer video encouraging owners of model year 2007 and older trucks, SUVs and passenger cars to inspect brake lines and thoroughly wash the underside of their vehicles to remove corrosive salt after the long winter in order to prevent brake-line failures that increase the risk of a crash.
