I originally bought this Blazer to keep and enjoy but we just found out we are expecting so I have to part with a couple of toys.

First is the 47 Chevy pickup I have listed separately.
Second is this amazing 1972 K5 Blazer - a true barnfind!
This is a 2 family owned vehicle with 42,000 miles on it
It came out of a concrete floored barn after many years of dry storage this past summer

Body:
Still carries it's original medium copper paint and black bucket seat interior.
Paint - It is 40+ years old and has had some touch ups but is largely original and has a fantastic shine to it, never fails to get compliments. This is a beautiful color, in some lights it is a brilliant copper, in others it is a very deep orange.
99.8% rust free - you will NOT find any rot on it anywhere. NONE! It does have a little surface rust on various suspension components that were unpainted from the factory but that is IT for rust!
The fenders, core support, quarters inner/outer rockers, body mounts, floor supports, doors, tailgate, bed floor, etc... are ROCK SOLID with no signs of weakness.
Single wall top is in great shape with no splits or prior damage. Rear hatch operates smoothly and is in excellent shape. The lock works as it should. The top does not appear to have ever been off of the vehicle.

Interior:
Original black bucket seat interior, passenger seat is in perfect condition. Drivers seat needs a new cover to be perfect. The foam underneath the cover is in great condition and won't need any work to be reused.
Matching rear bench is in good shape, one seam is starting to split but could be re-sewn or very easily recovered.
Dash, dash pad, door panels and original rubber floor mat are all in great shape. Original AM radio even works well!
All lights, gauges and other indicators - turn signals, etc...work as they should.
All trim is in fantastic shape, also has an added HD trailer hitch and trailer wiring - perfect for camping!

Mechanicals:
350/TH350 powertrain operates flawlessly, goes down the road at highway speeds with ease.
NP205 transfer case works as a good ole gear driven case should
Original front lockouts operate with ease

I have just gone through the following systems on the truck to ensure smooth operation after removing it from years long hibernation:
Cooling system - new 4 core radiator, hoses, belts, water pump and thermostat
Fuel system - fuel tank flushed, coated inside and out, new fuel pump and filter
Ignition system - new battery, points, condensor, spark plugs, wires, etc...
Engine - new valve cover, intake and oil pan gaskets, new starter and alternator with lifetime warranty
Brakes - new pads/shoes, calipers, wheel cylinders, etc...power brakes work GREAT!
Trans - new aluminum deep pan with cooling fins(original was warped and leaked), new filter, gasket and fluid
Both differentials were serviced

In addition to the above repairs I have added:
Hedman headers with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers - sounds fantastic!
Edelbrock Performer intake
Holley 600cfm carburetor
Edelbrock cast aluminum valve covers and air cleaner assembly
4" lift
33x12.50x15 BFG All Terrains
Set of 15x8 period correct slotted mags, painted to match trim

This Blazer needs nothing but the aforementioned drivers side seat cover and a new owner who has the time to enjoy it.
Reserve is very fair, if buy it now is used I will get the seat cover replaced with a top quality exact reproduction.
If you have any questions or would like any additional information feel free to contact me via Ebay, I will happily provide my phone number so we can discuss it further.

2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas

Wed, Oct 29 2014

Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

A hybrid and electric Corvette, plus we drive the Ioniq 5 | Autoblog Podcast #728

Fri, May 6 2022

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. Zac drove the electric 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Greg drove the fire-breathing 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo. The two dive deep into the relatively heavy news week by starting off with a discussion about the upcoming hybrid Corvette before chatting about what the electric Corvette might be like. They have a chat about the possibility of Porsche and Audi officially joining the Formula 1 field. Then, Greg and Zac get into some quick-hitting news to round out the segment by dissecting the updated Kia Soul (now without a turbo), the 30th Anniversary Edition Land Rover Defender and the new CEO at Aston Martin. Following the news and drive reviews, they rope in Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder to give them a quick download of what went down at the first drive for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. Finally, they reach into the mailbag and answer some questions from someone who is less than pleased about infotainment systems in some new cars. And lastly, the gang hears back from someone they helped out in a prior Spend My Money segment on the podcast. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

Mon, Jan 13 2014

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments.
