offering my beloved k5 for sale. i have built this as my everything vehicle. take it camping, hunting, exploring, offroading, and drive it down the hyway to get there. it is a factory 6.2 civilian blazer witch is very rare in the later years. i have driven it all over. been to ohio south carolina mississippi tennesse. it starts and drives great. even in the cold. i had it down to the teens and still starts fine with out being pluged in. i have replaced both axles with low mileage dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear from a cucv truck. it has 4.56 gears and a detroit locker in the rear and i added a locker to the front. king pins and wheel bearing are tight and often greased. front suspension is from DIY 4x4. it a b52 spring kit and i used low mileage 52" rear springs from a suburban and it rides great. also use a cross over steering kit from offroad design along with there steering box brace and weld on frame reinforcement plate. it has a new steering gear for the kit to work too. this will ensure the frame will never crack. it has a trackbar kit from sky offroad to take stress off the frame and keep the axle centered when the tires are turned. it drives great and dose not wonder all over the road. it has been very well maintained with regular oil changes with an extra large oil filter. it dont use oil or make noises. i added the banks turbo kit and had the injection pump tuned for the turbo and it runs real good. i have an egt gauge to monitor temps and it never hits over 1000. its much better to drive now. you can set the cruise at 75 and it wont slow down when you hit a hill even loaded with camping gear for 4 people. it has a 3" turbo back exhaust without a muffler. it has an over drive transmission that shifts great and the 4x4 works perfect. i have replaced the radiator and flushed the cooling system last summer and just replaced the glow plugs. the doors dont sag and i replaced the striker bolts so they close like it was new. the windows all work but the fronts are a little slow and the key switch in the tailgate needs wiggled to get the rear window to go down but works great to go up. the dash switch works great. the inside is clean and the seats are not ripped. there is a small crack in the dash bout 1" long and a little crack along the side of the speaker holes. the AC works great as dose the cruise. everything inside works except the trip odometer. you cant reset it. it has been sprayed with rhino lining all over the inside and the floor where the seats bolt down have been reinforced so the floor boards wont crack. there is no rust but the paint is not all that great. has a few scratches and the clear coat is coming up in a few places. it has no dents and is real straight. its a very solid truck and dosnt rattle when hitting bumps. it has a cd player and new speakers. it sounds good. the lower outside i painted with the store bought bed liner and prepped it right so its not flaking off. i have never had the top off. i have 2 cars im selling this k5 and an f350 4x4 diesel and im going to keep witch ever dosnt sell. i want them both but can only keep 1.

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

This is your 2014 Chevrolet SS

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Think you've waited long enough for this? If so, then you'll want to savor the high-res photos we've so far been given of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from The Bowtie in 17 years.
We all know its our version of the brand new VF-model Holden Commodore, but what's under the hood that earns the appellation "performance?" A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That's 35 hp and lb-ft less than the same engine is expected to produce in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet says the sedan will get from 0-to-60 miles per hour "in about five seconds."
Shifting comes courtesy of a six-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, while stopping arrive via four-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in back. The forged aluminum wheels are 19-inchers all around, each set supporting right around 50 percent of the sedan's weight, and the aluminum hood and trunk are meant to keep the center of gravity low.
