The truck has gone through 3 different build levels with this being the final version. It has passed emissions in Texas the last two years. It starts and drives just like a stock truck, only with a deeper exhaust note. It idles at about 625 RPM in Drive and is very smooth.
Almost every component of this recently completed build has been completely reworked to include a much modified, MP112 Magnacharged, 6-liter iron block, Patriot aluminum headed LQ9 engine, a 4L65e transmission, modernized interior, and a killer sound system to accompany you on the back roads. If you want a Blazer that utilizes the best of the modern aftermarket to create an unforgettable driving experience, take a number and a closer look at this awesome truck.
First impressions are important and this Blazer makes one of the strongest possible. Original White paint with a beige leather interior, the truck is very clean, without any stripes or engine size logos or an obnoxious exhaust sound that would belie its stealthy performance. Since the goal was to not create a head-turning show-quality car, all the usual "perfectly imperfect" features are still present. This is a daily driver, not a show truck. It still has a roof rack, the stock Chevy logos are still on it. The all stock body features smooth panels, nice door panel alignment and a new windshield. However, with very little detail work, it would be a very nice show truck.
At the front of this Blazer, a stainless grille insert sits inside a Chevy S10 Extreme grill with a freshly painted front bumper and valence panel. Above that grille, a cowl induction hood is included, but not installed. At the back of the car, a single 2005 C6 Corvette flag emblem is centered on the hatch, just above two hidden stainless steel exhaust tips
Open the hood and you'll find a 6-Liter crate engine from GM Performance. Unlike the original LQ9, this one features a Patriot 2015 CNC lightweight high-flow aluminum heads with 67cc chambers. Chambers have been coated with a High Temp coating to help hot-spotting. Forged Diamond pistons with hand fitted rings, ARP head studs and rod bolts,10.0-1 compression, and a Thunder Racing Blower high-lift hydraulic roller Blower Cam. Of course, the polished Magnacharger 112 supercharger has been added for some extra power. A hydro-boost brake booster has replaced the stock vacuum booster. The supercharger is inter-cooled with a rear mounted heat exchanger with its own cooling fans. It is also cooled with a modified reservoir that includes a fitting for A/C Freon to flow through it in a sealed system. The engine is dressed with an 8-ribbed FEAD serpentine belt system based upon Corvette spacing. A Hydro carbon fiber coated 4" mandrel intake tube connects the Corvette 90mm Throttle body to the TBSS Airaid Air filter housed in an aluminum heat shielded housing. To the sides, spent exhaust gases are expelled through Stainless steel 1 3/4" long tube headers that are thermal coated and wrapped. These connect to two high flow metallic converters into a Stainless merge "Y" pipe into a 3.5" in/out polished stainless Magnaflow muffler. A stainless 3.5" pipe exits the Magnaflow muffler, goes over the axle and into a Spintech Crossflow muffler with twin outlets for a very, very quiet, but extremely low restriction exhaust note. At the front, an aluminum radiator cools the supercharged LS block with the assistance of dual electric fans and is assisted with fan driven engine oil and transmission oil coolers. Across from the radiator, a 185 Amp DC systems alternator provides spark and has power to spare for all of the accessories, a Sanden air compressor, and PSC power steering pump also spin off the serpentine belt. Turn the key, the drive-by-wire gas pedal talks to the PCM and the throttle body and the modern mill starts with ease. Julio installed one of his top of the line Methanol injection systems with a #10 jet. It is full automatic running off of the MAF sensor. Has activation LED's and tank level LED installed in the A-Pillar console.
The exhaust system is amazing! It's completely tucked above the frame rails.
Around the stock frame, the suspension mixes 3-Piston 13" front brakes with Edelbrock IAS shock absorbers and torsion bars adjusted for a stock ride height for a thoroughly smooth driving experience. In the center, a GM 4L65e Transmission with an FLT Stage 2 shift kit, Corvette servos and a stock torque converter makes quick work of shifting with a firm direct feel that's smooth under part throttle, yet makes the tires bark under W.O.T. To the rear, a stock S10 7.5 differential with all new 3.73 gears, a TrueTrac differential and a T/A differential cover puts the LS engine's power to the pavement. Braking is provided by a four-wheel disc brake setup which draws its power from the Wilwood master cylinder and a Hydratech hydroboost system under the hood. Steering is equally responsive thanks to a quick ratio ZQ8 gearbox. At the corners, 18-inch C6 Split Spoke wheels add some late-model Corvette styling to the modernized truck chassis. A fresh set of Nitto 420S high-performance tires connect the car to road.
Open the doors and you'll find an interior that continues the successful blending of classic and late-model GM pieces. Seating comes courtesy of supportive S10 leather seats wrapped in beige leather with Trailblazer stitching while, between the seats, a center console makes room for a floor shifter and a custom gauge cluster mounted in the center console holding an A/F meter, trans temp and intake air temp gauges. A Ravelco anti-theft system is also installed in this truck. From the driver seat, a stock instrument cluster monitor fuel, battery output, speed, revs, water temperature and oil pressure. To the left on the A-Pillar, a dual pod houses Autometer Boost and Fuel pressure gauges along with a Valet key Switch to prevent the blower from making boost. (Turn off the switch and it's a normally aspirated 6 liter engine!) The stock automatic air conditioning system controls reside in stock location. The stereo is definitely a sleeper point of the interior, consisting of a Stock GM head unit by a JLAudio 500/5 Amplifier, Boston Acoustics 6.5 Front Speakers, Boston Acoustics NX67 Rear Speakers and a JL Audio Stealthbox sub-woofer. The wood-rimmed Steering wheel is from a Cadillac Escalade and includes functional Stereo controls. The power sunroof and garage door controls are all in working order.
Driven mildly, it can get 18-19 MPG on the highway as long as it's kept out of boost (have to admit, it's hard to do ;-). It has always had a steady diet of 91 Octane gas (tuned for 91) and the only have used Mobil 1 Synthetic.
I have about 400 pictures of the build, a build thread on S10forums.com and all of the receipts.
Maintenance wise, it's just like a stock truck. It aligns as stock, it's at stock ride height, a tune based upon a 2003 K2500 truck. There are no CEL's. It drives straight, starts every time, no dieseling or other weirdness.
VIN: 1GNDT13W1Y2280890

The base options are the Trailblazer Sport package, sunroof, PS/PB/PW/power sunroof, Automatic A/C, Autotrac 4WD, touring suspension, key less entry, floor shifter, 4 wheel disk brakes, cruise, Trailblazer embroidered seat/door panels.
I didn't build the truck as a race truck with a ragged tune. It was built as a daily driver for a 45-minute, in-town commute, in Texas weather.

Tuning:
The truck has gone through several stages of performance, with different chassis tunes for each level:
Final tuner was made at: Massport-Boca Raton, FL
Without the methanol injection, the truck made 420HP/405ftlb torque at the tires on 91 octane with a conservative "in-town" tune. Truck ran a 13.0 at 105MPH after driving 50 miles to track. Same 29" tall tires, no prep, full tank of gas, no burnout. Just pull to the line, put it in 4WD high, and hit it at the last yellow. 5 runs all about the same times. Truck weighs approximately 4,700 lbs.
Julio says (M1 100% Methanol) should add around 35-45 additional HP with a corresponding drop in E.T.
Passed emissions testing in Texas 2010-2013. I consulted with a rep from TXDot for emissions certification. Since it has Long Tube Headers, it would not pass visual inspection in CA....Sorry.....
Since the conversion was started, I've put about 7,500 miles on it. Currently has 64,000 miles on chassis. The truck is currently in St. Petersburg, Florida.
When it comes to current automotive trends, nothing is hotter than a Sleeper. The blending of stock styling and modern performance creates an undeniable appeal that just sneaks up on you. When stealth treatment is performed on something like a S10 Blazer, the end result is a truck that you can drive to work during the week and play on weekends. The demand for these trucks is unusual. There is a following of LSx-swapped S10 Trucks with several web forums providing details and support for swappers. With its blend of stock truck styling, this Blazer fits the Stealth formula perfectly. After driving it for about 3 years and putting about 20,000 miles on it, I decided it was time for a change.
Title, keys, and receipts will be exchanged once transfer has been confirmed.
This truck obviously doesn't have any warranty. It is a daily driver and while in excellent shape, should not be expected to be like new or showroom perfect. Light wear & tear, and minor flaws not mentioned here should be anticipated. $45,000 total investment, Truck and performance Parts.

Chevy Cruze CNG available from Crazy Diamond Performance
Thu, Aug 7 2014Anyone out there who can somehow find a second way to link Pink Floyd to natural gas vehicles gets a prize. Because so far, we have one Michigan-based company called Crazy Diamond Performance (Shine On You Crazy Diamond being a longtime Floyd fave) that's setting out to convert Chevrolet Cruze vehicles to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). All in the name of cheaper fuel and domestic security, of course. Crazy Diamond says it can offer a converted CNG-powered Chevy Cruze for a price as low as $26,000. That four-cylinder version has 130 horsepower and an 8.5-gasoline-gallon-equivalent capacity that provides a full-tank range of as many as 250 miles. Pony up another $2,000 or so and the peppier, turbocharged CNG Cruze can be yours. The company says it will provide a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and is trying to get EPA certification for its conversions. The selling points are cheaper fuel (CNG is about half the cost of regular gasoline in some parts of the country) and homeland security (CNG reduces dependence on foreign oil). The only production passenger vehicle CNG in the US is the Honda Civic CNG, which sells in very limited numbers. Check out Crazy Diamond's flyer here. Next-gen Chevy Volt will get 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine
Tue, Oct 28 2014As General Motors gets ready to unveil the new Chevy Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in January, it's starting to reveal a few more details about the updated plug-in hybrid. Today should be fruitful on that front, thanks to an event GM is hosting today that focuses on the new Volt, and we've just had the first bit of new: a bigger engine is coming. Since the beginning, the Volt has used a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine as a range extender when the battery runs dry. The second-generation model will instead get a slightly larger 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that will be built in Flint, MI. That's a step up from the various engines that have been a part of the 2016 Volt's rumored mills, everything from a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter three-cylinder to a 2.0-liter turbo. The confirmation about the new 1.5-liter powerplant was found in Automotive News, where we also heard again that GM is going to start building the new Volt's electric drive unit in Detroit, moving production up from Mexico. We will have more information on the 2016 Chevy Volt later today.
