3 DAY AUCTION!!!!!    Up for bids is a 1996 Chevy S-10 Blazer 4X4. This nice blazer has the 4.3 engine with the automatic trans. Its also a 4 wheel drive. The engine, trans and 4X4 all work and sound great. The engine is very peppy to be a V-6. This Blazer has very low miles at only 102,000. It runs out great. The body is also very nice for a 96 model with only normal wear and tear and no rust. There is a small dent on the drivers side rear door, not sure what caused that, theres a picture of it. Nothing major, just want you to know everything about this Blazer so theres no questions if you are the winning bidder. Theres also a roof rack on it and one of the very small trailer hitches like youd pull a lawn mower trailer or a small boat with. The wheels are the factory ones, the front tires are about new and the rears are about 1/3. The interior is very nice for a 1996 model Its gray cloth and the only place I see in the seats is a small place towards the side of the drivers seat, not all torn up just maybe a very small hole, nothing major. Carpet is clean, there is a little wear spot in the carpet that's behind the back seat, nothing major. The power windows and locks work, AC works also. Guys this is a nice clean Blazer that's way above average condition and low miles also. Get in it and drive it home. Let me know if you have questions. You must contact me before bidding if you have less than 10 positive feedback or I will cancel your bid. I also reserve the right to end the auction if it sells locally.  Checkout my feedback guys as its close to 600 and all positive. What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

Veyron and C7 Corvette join cast of Transformers 4

Wed, 29 May 2013

Like the Fast & Furious franchise, the Michael Bay-directed series of Transformers movies has become known as much for its bad acting as its impressive lineup of cars. As filming just started for Transformers 4, Bay's website has confirmed two new cars for the next installment as well as a makeover for everyone's favorite tractor trailer hero, Optimus Prime.
Joining the cast of T4 are a "race-inspired" Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. While Bay's website did not supply names for either car, Bugatti is reporting on its Facebook page that the Veyron will join the Autobots. Speaking of the good guys, top Autobot Optimus Prime is getting an all-new body based on a Western Star with a gaudy appearance that was seemingly inspired by Trick My Truck - right down to the six smoke stacks and side pipes!

GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.
