1986 K5 Blazer.  Four-wheel drive with manual locking hubs.  3/4 ton running gear front and back with 16" wheels and tires. Rear and front hubs are from a 1988 3/4 ton Suburban. Added leafs to rear springs and also has new Firestone air-suspension. Also a trailer hitch.  Engine has a Banks turbo system- a lot boost setup that maxes around 7 PSI boost. Engine has recently rebuilt injection pump, new HD electric fuel pump, glow plugs, water-pump, and vacuum pump.  Brakes are near new.   Transmission is a 1990 from a diesel Suburban. Model 4L60.  Has 500 miles since a complete rebuilt and upgrade with HD clutches, band, custom made torque-converter, etc.  Exhaust has a stainless-steel muffler.  Quad shocks in front.  Blazer had some rust and a Western plow on it when I got it. I replaced some rusty sheet-metal in rockers, floors, and rear tailgate girder.  I cut part of the snow-plow frame off and used as a front tire mount.  Camper body on it now was made by Hallmark in Colorado.  Has a pop-up roof. Propane heat and a fold-out bed, along with a over-cab bed.  Also front seats fold down flat for a 3rd bed if wanted.   Front seat is split bench and there's a small 2nd seat in back that comes out. So can seat four but will be tight. Camper has its own twin deep-cycle batteries and DC to AC electric rated 2000 watts.  NOTE:   I also have an OEM tailgate and cap if someone wants to convert this back to a typical Blazer.  You can have your choice of a tailgate with electric window or crank.  Choice of fiberglass cap with sliding side windows or fixed. Also choice of OEM back seats and spare carriers. But -you must remove them from other vehicles I have here. I do not have time. I am getting ready to sell my place and move.  If bought  - I will only be at my place in New York until August 8.
I will not have time to help with anything.

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out

Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.

Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]

Wed, Dec 3 2014

Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website.
