1986 Chevrolet Cucv M1009 Military Diesel Blazer on 2040-cars
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
This is a military utility version of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer. The M1009 is a utility rig built from a Blazer and could be used for command and control, as well as officer transport. The M1009 was rated for a 1,200 lb payload and a 3,000 lb towed load. It uses the heaviest duty GM springs available for the chassis and the rear axle is a 10-bolt unit. It rolls on the original tires and has a 6.2 liter Detroit Diesel engine non-emissions diesel rated at 155 hp and 240 lb·ft and equipped with a turbo 400 transmission. I am the only other owner than the government. I purchased it straight off a military base in Indiana. This vehicle is not perfect but is in very good condition. It has the expected amount of rust. There is rust in both front inner fenders, passenger side rocker and tail gate as well as a small area in the cab on the passenger side near the seat belt mount.. I have owned this truck since 2009. It had about 47,500 mile on it when I bought it. It has been used primarily as transportation for my daughter to and from high school. This truck is no where near perfect but is in very solid conditions. Glow plugs work well. Little to no smoke on start-up. I have replaced both batteries and the dual exhaust. It does have rust in a few areas as mentioned above (see pictures). The dash has a crack in the center. (see pictures) The heater fan only works on high. The drivers seat has a tear. (see pictures) The passenger side head light needs the little piece that keeps it aimed. The rear glass does not roll up completely (approx 2" short) because the crank mechanism does not work correctly which can result in water in the cab when it rains. No spare tire. There is a small dent on the drivers door. (see picture) The paint is 99% original. I recently touched up several spots of oxidation on the top with spray can flat black. Passenger side mirror glass is missing. Please ask any questions you may have. This vehicle is sold as is with no warranty. Buyer is responsible for transportation after the sale. $500.00 deposit required which is refundable if you are not satisfied when you come to get the truck. No refunds issued after delivery of the vehicle. Final payment cash or certified check. The title will be released once funds are in my bank account. NO TRADES
Per government regulations this vehicle must be purchased by a US citizen and cannot be shipped outside of the US. |

Corvette Stingray designer lists five goals of new exterior shape
Fri, 12 Apr 2013Redesigning an icon is a difficult task, especially when you've got a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the all-new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is intended to be your final objective.
General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
