For sale, low mile, original, clean, dry, one-repaint survivor 1978 Chevy Blazer. I recently acquired this through a friend from the 2nd owner, who owned it for 30 years. Sold new right here in the Montana high desert, land of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. This was a daily driver till last year, and it is sorted and ready to go. Well cared-for vehicle owned by an older gentleman and not abused in any way. I don't think it's even been off the highway for the last 20 years. Well optioned with factory A/C, cruise, tilt wheel and power locks.

Exterior: Shiny paint with no major flaws and ready to drive and enjoy. Not concours or museum quality by any means, but nice. Rig was repainted at some point and it's an average everyday main street auto body shop job. No major rust issues, there was some very minor rust repair at the time of the repaint, but we don't just don't see major rust or rot issues in this arid country- there's just no moisture. We only get 10 inches of total precipitation annually, and no salt is used on the roads. Typically the only rust seen here is where mud builds up and holds moisture, like behind rear wheels. Underside is beautiful with no rust, not even surface(and I know where to look) or any issues whatsoever. I will upload pics when I get to a hoist, but it's super clean. Only surface rust I can see at all is on the bottom of the tailgate latches, and on the steel plates behind the front wheels up in the wheel wells as shown in pics - both superficial. Glass is good except for one crack in windshield, and wheels are nice with no major curb rash, and 31" tires have good tread. Chrome is good with no pitting whatsoever, both bumpers do have a dent. Replacement bumpers are readily available from many vendors and reasonable. The top was not repainted with the vehicle and there are quite a few scratches in it. There is a hole in passenger side fender where CB antenna was. There was a set of running boards on it, so there are a few holes drilled in the bottom of the rockers. I will include the running boards if desired, they are in good condition. Overall, this truck is nice and ready to go.

Interior: All original and very presentable. Driver seat has one small tear as shown. Original carpet is a bit faded but not torn up. Door panels and rear panels nice, dash has a few small cracks as shown. Short headliner piece over front seats needs to be replaced. Dash bezel has one very small corner broken off, but they are readily available and reasonable. Just about everything seems to work including power locks and rear window. Gauges all work fine except ammeter. Combination AM/FM/radio/CB works and plays all the vintage stations but the CB antenna has been removed. Overall really nice shape for a car of this age and no issues to drive and use as is.

Mechanical: Starts, runs, drives out well like a little-old-man Sunday truck should. No major issues - engine runs smooth and pulls hard and trans shifts well. Oil pressure is good and runs about in the middle of the gauge rolling down the highway warm. Full time 4x4 works fine and seems tight. Recent receipts include complete carb rebuild, battery, starter, alternator, radiator hoses and brakes. No major leaks or noises or smoke (other than a puff at startup from valve seals) Only thing I can even remotely think of in the interest of full disclosure is that there is a slight rocker/valvetrain tick that can be heard by a trained ear - doesn't affect performance and there are many, many miles left in this strong 350. A/C equipment is all there and belt is on, blows fine, but not super cold so I would think a recharge might be in order. Factory cruise control equipment is all there but cruise doesn't engage, haven't looked to see if it's a fuse or what. I've put a couple hundred miles on and from what I can tell it's ready to use and enjoy.

Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this rig and you will too. This era Blazer is very hard to find, and books a ton, but the very reasonable reserve is well under $5k for quick sale. Title is signed off by previous owner and ready for you to fill your name in as purchaser. There is a lien indicated from 1985, and lien release is attached.

GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON.  Keywords 4x4 Blazer Cheyenne Custom CST Silverado GMC Jimmy SUV pickup Ford Dodge F100 F150 D100 D150 1500 2500 Bronco Jeep Scout C10 K10 C5 K5 C20 K20 off-road four wheel 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 77 78 79 80 81 82 83 84 85 86 87

Chevy Colorado gets box delete option designed for upfitters

Fri, Mar 6 2015

The Colorado, which marks the return of Chevrolet to the midsize truck segment, is receiving critical praise, and now it's time for the pickup to get to work. At the National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, Chevy is unveiling a box delete option package for the model that allows businesses to custom tailor the Colorado to their needs. The choice to remove the bed is exclusively available on the Colorado Work Truck trim in the rear-wheel drive, extended cab model with a 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 and six-speed automatic gearbox, and Chevy claims this is the only option of its type in the segment. Beyond the obvious loss of the rear, these trucks feature eight mounting points on the frame for upfitters to install any necessary modifications. They also get the Z82 trailering package and a locking differential. The versions with the box delete package carry a payload rating of 2,200 pounds an a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,001 pounds. "It's ideal for utility companies requiring service bodies, as well as landscapers and other businesses needing the utility of a flatbed," Ed Peper, US Vice President for General Motors Fleet and Commerical, said in the option's announcement. Further options with the package are limited to choosing a repositioned fuel filler for the upfitter to install and deleting the rear seat for extra interior capacity. The box delete becomes available in mid-April, and buyers get a $300 credit off the price of the Colorado when it's selected. Colorado 'Box Delete' Expands Options for Businesses Chevrolet package offers unique midsize pickup platform for alternative uses 2015-03-04 INDIANAPOLIS – With a box delete option, business owners and fleet managers can have it their way when it comes to customizing the back end of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. Chevrolet today announced availability of the package in mid-April. It is on display this week at the annual National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis. It is the only such option offered in the midsize truck segment. "With the segment-leading efficiency and maneuverable size, the Colorado makes a great, flexible choice for urban businesses and fleets to make the most of a midsize truck," said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet & Commercial.

Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step

Thu, Feb 2 2017

General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet. Autoblog fan favorite car ads from Super Bowl XLIX

Mon, Feb 2 2015

Super Bowl XLIX is in the books, and the New England Patriots emerged victorious. Of course, if you're like us, the big game wasn't so much about the battle between the east coast and west, so much as a fight between the world's automotive advertisers. We collected and collated all of last night's new ads and put them together for you to vote on. And yes, we're limiting this year's contest to last night's new features. That's why you aren't seeing Dodge's epic Wisdom among our collection of commercials, and it's a similar story with Chevrolet's Truck Guy Focus Group series, which highlights the new Colorado. You can still vote for your favorites. We won't be closing the voting on our Super Bowl page, so while the winners and losers are correct as of this writing, it's entirely possible that there could be some changes in the rankings as time goes on. So, without any further ado, here are the winning ads based on your voting. Nissan: With Dad Fiat: Ready For Action Jeep: Beautiful Lands BMW: Newfangled Idea Mercedes-Benz: Fable NASCAR: America Start Your Engines As for those ads that failed to impact you, loyal readers, Toyota was the absolute, undisputed loser. The Japanese brand ran four ads in total – two for Toyota and two for Lexus – and all of them have negative tallies as of this writing. Lexus' Make Some Noise and Lets Play and Toyota's One Bold Choice and My Bold Dad both had very weak showings among the commercials that aired, although they weren't alone. Neither Mazda nor Kia scored particularly well, despite featuring celebrity magic act Penn and Teller and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, respectively. Chevrolet was the winner of the losers, as of our writing, recording the fewest downvotes for its audience-punking The Big Game ad. If you want to take a second look at the losing ads, you can head back to our Super Bowl page for the complete collection. But for now, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the results.
