Restored 1955 Chevy Hardtop Red/white on 2040-cars
Nampa, Idaho, United States
I'm afraid I have taken too long in restoring this car. I'm 70 now and retired. I have lost interest and financially will have a hard time finishing this project that I have had for over 15 years. I am going to offer this beautiful 55 Chevy up for sale, but if it does not bring at least my starting bid, please dont email me with an offer. I wont sell it for any less. The car was professional painted probably 4 years ago, after that I traded a professional top notch auto repair shop a nice 1966 Chevelle to do a turn key mechanical repair to make my 55 drivable. They installed a crate 350 motor, 700 R tranny, rewired the car with a new wire harness, installed disc brakes in the front, BE COOL, radiator. They were suppose to install VINTAGE AIR, but they had so many hours into the car, they stopped half way through. I tried to call them on the carpet to finish our agreement, but they said they were way over the value of the Chevelle. All of the chrome is either new originals or buffed out original. The car is drivable. I have probably 100 miles on it since I picked it up at the mechanic shop. There is so much more that has done to the car, but it would take way too long to tell all. The tires are new. You will be getting all the parts that are missing off of the car . Actually there may be a whole pickup load of extra parts. I have the restored steering wheel and all that goes with it, the rechromed front bumper, at least two beautiful sets of original hubcaps, several grilles, just a ton of extra parts goes with the car. I have a complete set of original hardtop seats and door panels. The seats and panels are in an upholstery shop, but I think I will have to pick them up UNFINISHED. This is another reason I'm tired of the car. This is my second upholster. The first one had all my interior for 3 years and never started it, but did bleed me for some of the money. This upholster has had the interior for 1 year and has not started. I hate to say it, but I have meet more flakes in the auto business than anything else I've ever seen. Back to the 55 Chevy. You will need to finish installing the interior chrome. I do have the headliner bows, but I never have bought the headliner material ( the upholster was suppose to do that ). I do have the rolls of vinyl ( red & white ) to do the interior. You will have to button up the front end with the grille , head lights, splash pan and bumper. I have all the parts and the splash pans are painted. You will have to finish wiring the VINTAGE A/C. it's basicly minor adjustments thats left to do, but still a few hours to put in. I know I'm probably forgetting a lot to mention, so if interested please email me. I've had numerous request to call people, so to be fair to all you can call me at 208-461-5730 Dan

GM pickup truck plant in Flint to add 1,000 assembly workers
Tue, Feb 5 2019FLINT, Mich. — General Motors said Tuesday it will add 1,000 workers to build new heavy-duty pickup trucks at its plant in Flint, Michigan, and will give priority to GM workers who were laid off elsewhere. The announcement comes the day after GM said it was starting to hand pink slips to about 4,000 salaried workers in the latest round of a restructuring announced in late November that will ultimately shrink its white-collar workforce in North America by 15 percent out of 54,000. GM has come under fire from U.S. President Donald Trump and Midwestern lawmakers for its plans to stop production at five North American factories and cut up to 15,000 jobs in all. The automaker has said it is trying to find new jobs for 1,500 U.S. hourly workers at the affected plants. Flint's truck plant could be a haven for many of these employees. Sales of heavy-duty pickups in the United States have grown to more than 600,000 vehicles a year, up more than 20 percent since 2013, according to industry data. Prices for luxury models can easily top $70,000. GM on Tuesday will celebrate the launch of a new generation of heavy-duty GMC and Chevrolet pickups at the assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, that is now building all such trucks for the company. Elsewhere in the company on Monday, two people briefed on the cuts in the white-collar salaried workforce said GM is cutting hundreds of jobs at its information technology centers in Texas, Georgia, Arizona and Michigan and more than 1,000 jobs at its Warren, Michigan Tech Center. GM is filing new required mass layoff notices with state agencies and disclosed the cuts to lawmakers. The largest U.S. automaker announced in November it would cut a total of about 15,000 jobs and end production at five North American plants. The cuts include eliminating about 8,000 salaried workers, or about 15 percent. GM cut about 1,500 contract workers in December and said 2,300 salaried workers accepted buyouts, officials said. "These actions are necessary to secure the future of the company, including preserving thousands of jobs in the U.S. and globally. We are taking action now while the overall economy and job market are strong, increasing the ability of impacted employees to continue to advance in their careers, should they choose to do so," GM spokesman Pat Morrissey said, adding the bulk of the cuts should be completed in the next two weeks. Morrissey said GM would provide salaried workers with severance packages and job placement services.
